I just dont know. Went for the challenger first and am very happy with it. Really want the T90, because evil eyes, but there are several tanks in the way. Really interested in the German line because they have great guns but I like rolling my tank right in to the enemy faces. Theres just no clear choice.

It has good pen and is basically impenetrable from the front, the only weak spot is the driver's hatch which is hair thin. This is assuming you don't give the opponent a favorable angle as shooting down at the upper plate, shooting at the belly or shooting against a flat lower plate is easy pen.

I guess you literally need to git gud. There has to be some sort of shot trap with the wedged turret armour that sends shells flying into the turret ring, even if it's supposed to let shells enter it easily and cause them to tumble inside it.

Well, when you do a hard mission, about half the tanks will be tier 7 and they will all pen your front plate. When you do PVP, about half the tanks will be equal tier or higher, and will pen your frontal plate. So unless you really like doing medium or easy missions. Then I would skip it.

Expeditionary tank is awesome in PVE, Fox is great in at least a couple of missions as well, although does fare worse since it relies on hanging around more. Had decent success with a couple other lights as well, Bagelpanzer does ok if you pick missions to take it on, frankly if anything I get more annoyed when playing MBT in PVE since you don't have the agility to play peak-a-boo the same way and fairly often your armor is utterly useless against HE spamming NPC's. But to say you don't stand a chance in anything but an MBT is just plain wrong.

Anything below the Stillbrew and around the gun is easily penetrated. Missiles go straight through.
The gun lacks penetration and shots love to fly to the edge of the circle.
It's possibly the slowest vehicle in the game.
At least they fixed "every penetration is overmatched" so it's possible to do damage now.

It doesn't matter, the chieftain has 50% more health than either other MBT. And it gets the best aim time by far which can be enhanced by running both aim time mods, so shots flying to the edge of your circle is literally zero problem unless you're a retard firing on the move.

The Leopard 2A6 has literally no frontal weak spots unless you consider a 1 pixel area in an indentation next to the driver's hatch to be a "weak spot."
The Challenger 2 has its (admittedly nearly impenetrable) driver's hatch and its reduced damage commanders hatch and it melts to HE.
The T-90MS has its driver's hatch which deals critical damage, its LFP which is pretty big, its commanders hatch with reduced damage, and similarly HE melts it and destroys its gun instantly and usually does critical damage.
The M1A1 has one or two pixels on its drivers hatch and its reduced damage commander's hatch and has no HE so it actually has to aim for your weak spots and can't do shit if you sling HE at it.
The Leopard 2A6 has a driver's hatch that's yellow to a T-90MS at favorable angles assuming the 90MS is at facehugging range and the 2A6 does not move whatsoever.
If you go hull down literally the only thing the enemy can do is lob HE and hope for 200+ damage rolls or win the fucking lottery by having their shells somehow ricochet into a sliver of its turret ring that might be penetrable.
I would argue the M1A2 is not the worst tier 9 MBT because of its lack of APS and bad gun depression but rather its lack of an HE round which makes it absolutely helpless against a Leopard 2A6, or a 2A5 for that matter.
