Nah. it's the Cryolator full upgraded.
The best upgrade for it, turns it from an Icethrower, to an Icicle thrower. Where it shoots Ice Spears like an Automatic gun. It's pretty neat.
Heavy Weapons increases the damage of it. The Ammo is extremely expensive. I had to get several hundred Purified Water sold to afford only 1k Ammo. (26k Caps)

My character decided to become a specialized op mercenary after the main quest. He and Piper just go around doing jobs for people, clearing out raiders, retrieving items etc.

Doing power attacks outside of VATS lets you trigger criticals without having a critical bar. Also lets you do the critical non-lethal strike in form of just doing a power attack. VATS is killing your damage.
Guessing it's because of the complaints that in FO3 and NV, using vats with melee was basically essential due to a straight up 20% damage increase when in VATS.

The voice acting thing pissed me off before even leaving the vault.
At the start she says the crap about Nate and being dramatic, as would anyone, she then sees the skeletons and says "W-What happened here...?", then 5 minutes later she finds a locked safe inside the Vault and when she unlocks it she says "Nice!" in an energetic voice. Within 5 fucking minutes the PC just loses all character. This is why you don't fucking do PC voice acting.

Minutemen is basically just a fallback option in case you decide that you're unworthy of the BoS and can't bring yourself to pick the other two inferior options.
The minutemen basically just exist. Even if you build up every single one of the settlements and recruit a ton of settlers nobody seems to really notice or care except the settlers themselves. Like I'm pretty sure there are more minutemen in my game right now than raiders but doesn't really matter when all they're good for is being a hoe.

It's the unique finishers, as well as other animations. The cool animations you occasionally see NPCs do? The shove, the slam, the hip-glide and the kick among a couple of others.These are also triggered by doing melee bashes with a gun, though less reliably. You trigger those as well, when you do power attacks, so you get more of a defensive bonus to entirely shut down one enemy for a few seconds. Well enough time to beat someone's face is.

Small doses of radiation have a long-term and cumulative effect. Those people have lived in irradiated areas their entire lives, their parents had been irradiated, and their parents' parents had been irradiated. You're still much cleaner than they are.
