No Soviets vs Mujahideen action is a criticism of the whole game in general. They could've had a whole host of other missions based around MGS4 style sneaking around the battlefield had a faction system (Mujahideen, competing PMC factions in Africa) been implemented.

It is, but it really stands out in Backup Back Down because it was the perfect opportunity to have something like that take place in a controlled mission environment. There wouldn't be any excuses about performance issues or pacing problems.

Although some of the other outposts were large in their own nature, they just felt small when compared to Central Base and OKB Zero.

I don't think it makes sense to start it in Chapter 2, since the mid-point of her arc (which is gated by episode 31) deals directly with the fallout of Chapter 1's ending. Like the rest , it's a pretty important bit to get at the right time, IMO.

Constant visits to MB is just the tip of the iceberg. When I open the idroid I always wait for two beeps of the icons before doing anything. When loading the game I wait for the press x to continue icon to flash at least 8 times before pressing it. Every visit to the ICC I must pan the camera around slowly observing everything, one time unzoomed and another zoomed. There are plenty more.

i had some AU in the backburner for some time where a bunch of characters live on like the same street so they're pretty close-knit
I've based it kinda off of my own life experiences and travels haha
Like one house is Boss, Sorrow, Fury and Fear (End lives in new hampshire and pain's somewhere in the south managing his family's honey business). Boss and Sorrow adopt Fear and Fury as their sons [i like to think fear's the youngest of the cobras while fury is the second youngest]
Another house is Volgin, Raikov, Eli and Mantis/Tretij. Basing off of the vague-ish cut ending with Chapter 51, I like to think Eli and Mantis flee to somewhere in Manhattan [through Tretij's premonitions] and wind up on the doorstep of Raikov and Volgin's flat. They decide to take the boys under their wing and take care of them like their own offspring. then after 9/11 raikov couldn't handle living in nyc anymore so the family moves to new england where the cobra family is
and there's snake and otacon and sunny and strangelove i guess lives in another house too and paz is her gardener/housekeeper/spicey lover oohlala

jesus I know this game has relatively few glitches, but it makes it such a pain to do all the mission tasks

Man I forgot how good it is, really well designed and the atmosphere is great. Even the little things, like how the marines wear ponchos to keep them dry from the rain.
If TPP had 5 or 6 missions where you were dropped in these Ground Zeroes sized maps, with the same thought and effort put in, it would've been fantastic.
Another thread made me wonder, imagine how a Liquid based MGS would be.
