While it is never outright said, you'd be able to understand that their love is platonic and non-sexual in nature if you used a bit common interpretation and completed the Solavellan romance:

Solas has no hesitation when touching Mythal, but the passion present in his romance is not there either. So no intense full body hugs or anything.

This brings me to my second point: the ass grab. We can see that Solas is quite physical in his romance: he does not hesitate to hold his lover's hand and let his touch linger on her - ahem- butt. Do we see him try to touch Flemeth's boob even though she has plenty of cleavage? Do they intertwine fingers? Nope.
Moving on:

According to the most prominent Solas Origin theory, he was originally a spirit that was enslaved and given a body by Mythal (google it if you do not know it). Why would he feel passionate love for someone who is essentially his personal Jesus Christ? Moreover, nothing in the Fen'Harel mythos suggests that he ever lusted after Mythal, while we have some obviously erotic undertones in Solas/Andruil and Mythal/Elgar'nan relationships even though we only met two of these characters.
On the other hand, Lavellan is Solas's equal -- both have been in leader positions, both serve a master they would rather not have (Evanuris and the Chantry), and, most importantly, both are in youthful elven bodies.
Point is -- even if Solas might have had some attraction to Mythal, it is not present in her current withered shem form (Flemeth). Indeed, if that was the case, shouldn't Fen'Harel have been romanceable by shemlen females as well? No - Patrick Weekes intentionally race gated him to show that there is no romance between them.

Not saying that I'm not pro-Solas in this respect, but if Solas was just an agent of Fen'Harel like Viddy thought, she would have killed him after she cornered him instead of getting petrified. I guess you are right in that the narrative was anti-women in that respect, but she did not strike me as incompetent throughout the DLC. Same with Tallis -- while mary-sueish, she is highly competent in terms of achieving her objective and is only troubled by her own conscience. Meanwhile, Sten starts Origins starving in a cage, the Arishok is a dumb ass, and Salit dies like a bitch from a single crossbow bolt after making a fool of himself in front of the Orlesians.
As for women fighting in Trespasser, I see it as a case of story and gameplay segregation: they might be random servants for all we know because we're not dealing with an actual branch of the army, but they still act soldier-like because they're just video game enemies for all we know. It would be too much to ask of Bioware to give them unique combat behavior that shows their actual status.

You're right -- I sided with the Brotherhood of Steel during my first playthrough and haven't seen the Railroad's side yet. Fresh synths escaping from the institute seems a bit dumb, but that's Bethesda for you. The abuse bit makes me dislike Father and his buddies even more though -- they just seem like generic evil scientists without good reason (seeing how they can't even cure cancer yet but waste their time replacing random humans with synths) unlike the Qunari who seem to know something dangerous that we don't.

Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights games have similar combat.
The Witcher 3 has a romanceable woman who is similar to Morrigan.
Divinity: Original Sin has satisfying magic that isn't pure action like Dragon's Dogma and other console games.
Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion Mask of the Betrayer lets you be evil in a satisfying way.
Fable 1 has a similar atmosphere with a mix of peaceful lands and edgy, nightmarish ones.
Origins is unique though so it's hard to make recommendations.

I think that the problem with the circles is that they just put the children under the watchful templars but don't do anything to train their discipline. That's why they grow up to be lonely, insecure adults vulnerable to demons and cultists like Anders.

There's nothing wrong with having someone watch over the mages, but I think that the Seekers as we've seen them in the series are too secretive for their own good and also kind of useless. That's my point -- they were too lax when training the apprentice mages. We weren't given any details about Kirkwall's circle other than that it's 'extra bad' and 'bad templars' rape poor apprentices all day everyday, but I assume that the mages themselves didn't have much discipline in terms of being trained, having strict schedules, and so on. I'm thinking about something like 18th-19th century charity boarding schools in the UK where the kids had to recite the Bible for three hours a day, wake up at five, live like underage monks and so on. Basically, harsh life to harden their minds against mental pollution. I think the Qunari are doing something similar with their youths and it seems to be working.

They did try to appeal to the templars, that's why the conclave was held instead of the mages just going full ISIS. Besides, now we know that the Seekers had no intention of letting them live in peace after the cure for the tranquility was discovered.

Pro-circle mage is the only way to go. Templars should be watched heavily as well to ensure that power is not abused. The Harrowing is a good way to weed out unstable mages. Corrupted templars should be taken out of the towers and given jobs where they don't have contact with mages.

I partially agree with this -- however, that does not account for their teenager years, which is when children generally stop listening to their superior and become really irresponsible (unless they're like Bethany). I don't think it's safe to leave them with their parents for that reason unless you live in a society that does not fear magic and is willing to face it (like the avvar or the Dalish) instead of just locking the mage child in a barn , and that is impossible in Chantry-controlled Thedas because of Tevinter stigma.

I don't think this is true, we haven't seen a single templar with inferiority complex when it comes to magic except for Carver. It doesn't make a lot of sense from a psycholanalitic point of view either, unless the society in which a templar finds himself in treats people with magic as some sort of greater beings (like Tevinter). I think that the natural reaction of a Thedosian when thinking about magic is 'golly, I'm glad that's not me'.

I don't have my own pics of them and the ones on google images are a bit shit so excuse the quality, but their heads aren't the same -- there's definitely some variation in horn shapes (curved up, down or straight, shooting up instead of curving like Mythal dragon). No horn dragons seem to have the same head though, so I took the dragons from the dlcs who at least have different jaws and teeth from other hornless dragons.
