Well the most stupid deaths were altar deaths, playing mist elves (fucking 8 HP) and getting carless around the lesser vault in the PC, due to frustration that there wasn't a single altar and I had metric tons of unidentified gear.
I usually go Unassuming Cave>(Infinite Dungeon, if I play something weak)>City Dungeon>Puppy Cave/Druid Dungeon.
Afterwards I though I could search for the weaker random dungeons, but I guess I could also go straight for CoC.

You can save the puppy cave for later, the quest doesn't ever become unavailable and at low levels it's a death trap. You can always safely skip the first cave unless you're hoping for an altar or something.

Keeping a stash in ADoM is kinda risky though, until you have seven league boots or something of the sort to reduce the time you spend in the wilderness. Unless you're very good like the troll archmage guy you want to avoid hitting the 90 day limit for as long as you can.

cool beans, do you have a preferred setting/style? I'm personally best able to give advices about the Angband variants (though most here can give broad or beginner advice on any of the games linked in the OP).
Personally I'd recommend starting with one of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (listed as DCSS), PosChengband, Brogue, or Nethack if you feel like kicking around for a bit. Sil is also very good.
DESU Nethack is a decent one to start with because it has great humor, lots of weird things that can happen (and amusing ways to die), and a well-developed "the devs think of everything" type of content, without being too open-ended.
For highly experienced nethack players the endgame is kindof a grind, but I've found it's a really fun way to get into the genre.

Anime is inherently japanese though. They just took the easy way out, storywise. Its really hard to have a story about these horrifying "monsters" and how humanity tries to deal with them without humanity having some way to equalize themselves. It would have been really interesting to actually see a show about humanity waning in the wake of these "monsters" for once, and have the show being about how humanity deals with its inevitable death and how it declined rather than "And than Vincent was the proxy and did some real cool bleach shit to kill all the other proxies, and now the real human beans came back so its all ok." Why not explore the AutoReivs more, or do more shit with the dead city domes that litter the white wastes instead? Attack on Titan pulled the same shit and suffers for it too.

Texhnolyze is considered a patrician anime. It's light on dialogue for most of the show, with some beautiful artwork and thoroughly depressing characters, world, and story.
The biggest hurdle is that the first two episodes are particularly light on dialogue, and if you're accustomed to typical wordvomit shonenshit then you might find the pacing glacial.

Just got into DCSS. It's my first rougelike and I'm enjoying it a lot. I don't have much of a clue as to what I'm doing though. Wiki suggested I do a few runs as a Troll Berserker to get a feel of the game. This is the furthest I've managed to get so far, mostly due to this quarterstaff I picked up off some crazy guy that caused all sorts of status ailments and debuffs. I was training maces at first, but jacked up quarterstaffs after finding it
I was wondering if I could get some tips? Not entirely sure what I'm doing. I was kind of just autoexploring until a filled out the whole map of each floor, killing everything I came across and picking up whatever I found (Except for armor as nothing seemed to fit me) before heading to the next floor

Youre a troll, dont use that staff, your claws do a lot of dmg. Train unarmed combat for that obviously. Use trog hand for the mr and regen when in sticky situations, brother in arms to summon minions to aid you if in even more sticky situation, otherwise just berserk thru stuff. Use berserk accordingly to the situation and stuff you see.
Use the scrolls in your inventory of which you have 2 or more but on a fully explored level, incase one of the scrolls is tp and it teleports you to some shit spot. Use id scrolls on pots first, then scrolls then everything else according to what you need. Never drink non-identified potions. Thats pretty much it to begin with, for everything else and more read the dcss pasta in the op its rly informative

Typically, for a melee start character like a troll, you'll pick 1 form of melee skill. Trolls should nearly always pick unarmed combat, since they have extremely sharp claws that give HUGE bonuses to UC. Don't split your experience between several different melee types unless what you find is truly worth it, but I don't think there is anything you can find on a troll that will trump their innate claws. Just pick 1 and stick with it! Especially if you're berserker, since papa trog will provide. As for what to do, your first matter of business is always find a god. Since you have trog, your next step is finding the lair of beasts, between D8 and 11. If you can finish lair, come back and we'll dump more information on you.

Sadly, you don't. Dragons have a good chance of dropping their scales on death, you got unlucky. Their corpses also always convey the appropriate resistances when eaten, but some can't be gained this way.
