The F-15J Tiger has a strong claim. Highest cost of all fighter Eagles (tied with 60th anniversary), and 6AAM, which is better than 4aam. Only strike against it is that it doesn't have HPAA, but it does have QAAM and SAAM.
QAAM is not as high damage as HPAA, and is a scam because the homing is not THAT much better than HPAA.,
SAAM might be useful in the right hands, but requires baby-sitting. If you can position yourself well before firing, and put on propulsion, it is nigh-undodgeable.
Otherwise, if you would rather not use 6AAM or SAAM, or just think the Tiger skin is hideous, I would say it would be Cipher, closely followed by Pixy, given that they appear to have imminent cost increases, and have a loadout of 4AAM, QAAM and HPAA, which are OK in co-op, and very strong in TDM. IMO Cipher and Pixy have a heavy emphasis on TDM performance rather than Co-op, which is understandable, given that Galm events are only TDM.
I would have rather had SAAM instead of QAAM, but hey, you can't have everything.

I generally always preferred most shit on the PC but now that my PC is old and can't handle new games, I'm starting to see a lot more value in consoles. I'm too old myself for most games at this point so I'd mostly just be focusing on Ace Combat and maybe a few other cool titles.
Fortunately, I already have a PS4 so I'm hoping AC7 will be available for it. I'm already pretty happy with how the game looks so I'm just looking forward to maintaining a solid 60 fps. Excalibur can be a disaster with the frame rate and even B7R at times.

I think it should be doable amongst high MRs with high cost planes but it's annoying when low MRs don't open up the room to more people. I've gotten it 3 times with low MRs so far and we have yet to S rank it. It's usually me and one or two others doing work and then the rest of the people having absolutely no idea what to do and getting shot down every 3 seconds.

How do I actually do anything in the A-10 considering everyone is 50 times faster and can sweep an entire map before I even get in range to lock on? Mine is already at level 4 but still too slow to do anything.

Are you playing in 8 player rooms? Are the rooms cost restricted?
If your A-10 is that low, consider running only in cost restricted rooms, playing your own MR, and if possible to do while keeping S ranks, play in smaller rooms.
Smaller rooms are important because in 8 player rooms, first striker will almost always win. Cost restriction should reduce your disadvantage. MR is pretty self-explanatory.
Other than that, you should focus on getting compressor LL ASAP. It's the most important body part in the game.

Also, unless you have spent more than 3 million on a single plane that you will never fly again, you are still doing ok.
If you can't get compressor L, get M, If you can't even get that, get engine M or L
The game is much easier than when I started playing. Research goes faster, credits come faster, planes are cheaper.
If you don't have a "single viable plane", take this opportunity to learn how to do your best with your shit planes.
Those skills will take you to the top when you finally get the plane you want at the level you want.

I generally try to fly my favourite planes only, but I'll try to help my team by switching to the appropiate role if needed.
If a nugget/challenge player is in the room and it doesn't jeopardise the mission rank, I'll leave them some space so they can get something at least.
But if I see a confirmed clubber/shitter, I will go at them with everything I have.

I only leveled the Weasel to 5 for the sake of the "level 5 planes to level 5" challenge. I also took the F-5E, F-20, and F-14A to levels 4, 7, and 5 respectively because I like Area 88 and missed out on the drops, so I stuck with the standard versions. It's fun until you start getting to matches where you lock on an enemy, only to watch it explode before you can even fire a missile because someone else sniped it from across the map.
I don't mind the wasted credits so much as I wish I hadn't wasted all this time on research. I'm still a long way away from the mid-tier planes and good parts.

We're viewing the helicopter and plane from the side, slightly below. From our vantage point, the helicopter should appear slightly smaller than the airplane does to us in addition to the fact the the helicopter is presumably already much smaller than the plane.
Yet the helicopter appears about as long as the aircraft itself does in the photograph. Either that plane is very small, that helicopter is unusually enormous, or that photo has been edited.

Level 5 is solid for planes in that cost range. I myself have an A-10, and F-16XL and an Su-33 at those levels. They're not top tier but they do the job well enough if you're not playing against metafaggots. You can always level to 6 for the two extra slots, but 5 is a good place to stop imo.
