There's no workaround.

You destroy the towers, BOOM, Tamriel no longer exists.

The workaround is that the Thalmor believe that when the towers are destroyed, they become like gods.

It's not going to happen either way because when the towers die, that means TES dies. Can't have TES games without the Elder Scrolls and Tamriel.

The only way I can see the destruction of the towers working if Bethesda pulls a "the Kirkbride stops here!" and says that killing the towers causes a new cycle or kalpa and Tamriel gets reset, like what happened to the dreugh.

Honestly after some time it just has to end though, that plot can't go on forever else it gets stale. And the "new cycle" is basically a free card to make a "new TES" that still uses stuff from the previous games so they don't have to think of an ALL NEW universe. They can still use most of the history/lore and probably a bit of the races and places and probably breathe in some new life into the series by adding stuff that previously didn't fit.
They could pull off shit like industrialization, renaissance or hell, they could make a cyberpunk spinoff. Just imagine the possibilities, they could even merge Elderscrolls with Fallout Jesus Christ, how horrifying!

This is slowly driving me insane

I have the memory patch and Skyrim still CTDs nonstop when it gets so much as close to the old 256 limit. It doesn't even reach it; it'll CTD at anywhere between 225-236 despite everything saying that 512 is working.

What the hell has gone wrong?
>>
>>122765428
Why would a new cycle give you industrialization or a renaissance?

If anything, we'd be back to smashing each other with sticks and rocks in some prehistoric "iron age" Fire And Ice world.

Now that I think of it... that'd be pretty cool.

A TES game set in a world where the mightiest weapon and armour set is iron.

Planning on restarting and trying to finish the game at last [spoler] wont happen [/spoiler], remember playing vanilla ofr a while, is there any good mods that i should install and they will "fit" into "vanilla" type of game?

Right now installed faster running because fuck the police, couple of official plugins and that huge graphics-upgrade pack(can't remember how its called).
Oh, and mod that gives x5 if you only level once and not 10 times, remember how i was just suffering through leveling 30 skills before levelup because i didn't wanted to lose stats.

Also what skills are people like to take? From work cant give screen, but i think i decided to pick: to major long blades, light armor, conjuration, mythicism, illusion and something i can't remember, i think alteration. I also picked speechcraft and sneking either in major or minor.

I use BTB's Game Improvements, whatever I don't like, I change in MWEdit. Luckily it's minor things.

Other than that, you can play how you want. Vanilla Morrowind is extremely broken, and extremely unsatisfying in some aspects (kill a Nix-Hound, its meat is worth shit, what the fuck).

With BTB's Game Improvements you are forced to play your character (Misc Skills increase so slowly it's basically pointless to train them).

Thing is, this is a TES thread. TESVI won't support anything remotely similar to the improvements in the Fallout gameplay because it doesn't have shooting or robots, which where the only things improved in that series.

Almost everything else was worse. Just like Oblivion to Skyrim.

"science" is halted in Tamriel because of magic and conflict. If the sentient inhabitants of the next iteration are unable to utilize magicka themselves, they might follow the way of the dwemer and build constructs that do the work for it, with or without magic.
Sure, it probably will take a while before civilization developes, but who's to say it has to be at the beginning of the cycle? Though you are right, a stone-age TES might be fun. Would give Toddy a reason to reimplement spears.
I still wouldn't be surprised if Toddy merged the two games though. Disappointed, but not surprised.

Really though, TESVI will be so bad. Just look at the work put into the "greatest city we've ever made" in Fallout and how many sales the game got despite even being short for a Bethesda game.

Even when you try to imagine the improvements a newer title might bring nothing comes to mind outside of graphics and physics. Maybe voice acting? Writing will be complete garbage and the combat will likely still stay shit.

>>122769373
That's a good idea kiddo. Will do.

>>122769659
>The combat was slightly better
No jump attacks, no attacks underwater, more animation locks, less animations, less combat mods thanks to new restrictions. They changed how magic works(arguably better or worse) and gave you duel wielding which was shit.
>The world building was all around better
Smaller world with clutter in it. Maybe you're right here but it's subjective. I liked even vanilla Oblivion's world better let alone modded.
>The dungeons were all around better
Still shit and worse than Morrowind.
>The loot design was better
No it wasn't, you couldn't even choose which pants you wore and staffs were casual af. Less models too until DLC but they were still mostly shit.
>The questing was worse
>The dialog was worse
>The leveling execution was worse
Smart guy.
>>
>>122768765

Nono, read the readme, it's incredibly. Part of that is what makes it so easy for me to edit, since he was kind enough to list everything.

You get some weird changes, such as certain items having a name that isn't reflected by the changed enchantments. But other than that (which can be quickly fixed in MWEdit), it's pretty great, I can't play without it.

Thats the equipment system, I'm talking about loot placement and risk/reward to getting them, like how uniques dont scale and they're all around good weapons until super late game.
>>
>>122770091
Actually I take the last part back, the leveling execution was slightly better than vanilla Oblivions because Oblivions system didn't actually work and was broken at launch meaning that if you chose your primary skills you actually wanted they would level slow as fuck later.

>Can't have TES games without the Elder Scrolls and Tamriel.

TES VI: Akavir.
>>
>>122770743

Not him, but Morrowind is a much better game than Skyrim in almost every sense.

- Better worldbuilding
- Better quests
- More and better factions
- Many more RPG possibilities
- More lore that made the game actually feel alive instead of "yeah, dragons are around and there's a civil war going on".

Skyrim's only objective gameplay improvements were dual-wielding and... nothing else I can think of, to be honest. I prefer dice-rolling combat myself, then again, that's a subjective opinion.

Morrowwinds good and all, but I reckon that if you try and sell it to people as the best RPG ever, but they've played a lot of the more modern Bethesda offerings first, they're going to find the whole affair somewhat slow and clunky in comparison.

At the time, Morrowind blew my mind away, but now, trying to recommend it to people who are coming off of Fallout and Skyrim, I've gotten somewhat mixed feelings from that about it. Its definitely more old school than most people are happy with these days.

Just don't make em like they used to.

Even those boring Skyrim crypts were a lot better than the ones in Oblivion.

Making FO3 and having Obsidian make FONV really taught Bethesda some new tricks on designing dungeons.

Oblivion was really... vanilla combat-centric RPG design. "here's your enemy, here's your loot, NEXT ROOM."

Ayleid and Imperial ruins in Oblivion are creepy as fuck.
>>
>>122785136
Going back and replaying Oblivion recently, I think I preferred Oblivion's. A lot of them felt samey visually but they usually had pretty varied enemies in them and there were a number of them that did neat stuff, like the caves that broke into Ayleid ruins and whatever. Plus Shivering Isles had a bunch of solid new dungeons with interesting designs.

Skyrim's only really good dungeons were the story-related dwemer ruins and some of Dawnguard's.

>>
>>122785395

At least Oblivion had a damn good variety of enemies as well as the Shivering Isles. When it comes to Skyrim, the design is piss poor.

You get some twists and turns, some linen wraps strewn all over despite them being useless and just clutter, with maybe some stupid turn-table puzzle regarding snakes and whales, with bottles of oil laying around to act as a casual way to disperse enemies.

Then your enemies consist of one of three things. Draugur, Vermin, or bandits. Where are the Daedra? Where are the bloody minotaurs, land dreughs, and spriggans?
>>
>>122787137
Your actual load order should be in %appdata%\Local\Skyrim. loadorder.txt is the list of all the mods you currently have in your data folder and plugins.txt is the list of all the mods you currently have active.

This is assuming NMM doesn't move them anywhere, but if it does they should still have those filenames so maybe dig around in the NMM folders if you can't find them in appdata. MO should be the same way but I've never used it so I dunno.

I don't think it has to do with Bethesda not being able to do it, and more with Bethesda getting (artistically) fucked over by their own success.

My old housemate has four favourite game series. God of War, Halo, Battlefield and The Elder Scrolls. He doesn't care about well-written quests. He only cares about one-shotting a giant with his bow.

Remember, Todd Howard is the guy who turned Morrowind into that amazing game we all loved.

Nothing changed except the amount of people playing TES games.
>>
Is there a place I can go to get the previous versions of NMM?
>>
>>122787430
>Where are the Daedra? Where are the bloody minotaurs, land dreughs, and spriggans?
This. People complain that Oblivion felt too "generic high fantasy" or whatever but literally all Skyrim has is wolves and bears and lions and then maybe a giant spider. Oblivion had skeletons and zombies and ghosts and wraiths that were all different enemies with different attack styles. Skyrim has skeletons and draugr, which are fundamentally identical to skeletons except they yell at you.

Oblivion had scamps and clannfear and hungers and xivilai and daedroths, and minotaurs and ogres and land dreughs and will-o-the-wisps and I can't even fucking remember half of what it had because there was so much fucking variety, and I'm not even counting human enemies.

Skyrim has wispmothers? I guess those are a thing? Even the falmer are less interesting than Oblivion's goblins. Fuck, the most interesting enemies in Skyrim are the ones they took from Morrowind. The only genuinely cool thing about Skyrim's enemies are giants, and mostly because they're not immediately hostile to you.
>>
>>122788149
>Remember, Todd Howard is the guy who turned Morrowind into that amazing game we all loved.

Neither do I, but the reason why Beth don't put any effort in its games is because, ultimately, it simple doesn't matter, their next game will sell millions regardless of its own quality and mods will "fix" its issues i.e. reduce them do a tolerable level.
>>122788475
>Skyrim has wispmothers?
I honestly think I only fought a maximum 3 or 4 of them in a +60 hours playthrough, and the lore about they being a witch coven that achieved immortality through some wierd ass ice-necromancy is never explored.
>>

Okay, it's about the success. As in the enlarged playerbase.

The more people play, the more it'll get casualized.

...We can hope.
>>
>>122788537
But George Lucas was a retard from the start and Star Wars was saved by its editing.

Todd's problem is that he can't be as involved in the design process as he used to be, because the games are so popular now. He has to play the producer role, he can't sit down as project lead like he did with Redguard and Morrowind and make a cool weird game anymore. He isn't free to experiment.

I can honestly only remember seeing them on three occasions since the game came out, and one of them was part of a quest. None of them were memorable.

Dragons were nice, I'll give Skyrim dragons. Dragon fights were big and boisterous and could be fun, and still are fun to come back to after a while. But they're not hard, and they telegraph their presence from so far away that it's impossible to be truly startled by one, unlike say getting charged by a minotaur out of nowhere in the woods in Oblivion.

Morrowind charm was not that it was hard (really, is quite a easy game once you understand its mechanics and explore a little), but rather because it had a incredibly well thought world, with genuinely interesting stuff in it.

That also happened to me once, with an Ancient Dragon, but it is a shame that dragons had most of their shouts removed outside the generic fire/cold breath. They could have been actually challenging in a way that was not "They have 100.000hp and deal 5.000 damage per attack".

Hard might have been the wrong wording... perhaps "hardcore" would be better.

Hardcore meaning an RPG with a world and quests you can put your teeth into, like oldschool Bethesda rpgs, the Witcher games, the Souls games.

Opposed to casual rpgs like the Dragon Age games. Fun interesting characters MORRIGAN THE MOSTE set in a boring world as flat as a puddle. (Or more like a theoretically interesting world that is presented incredibly boring in the games.)

Dragon Age was purposefully focus-shifted. They focused on characters and their development instead of an environment. It's clear when you read the dev interviews.

Meanwhile TES focused on a vivid world where things happen, which automatically lead to somewhat interesting characters, even if just for a short sidequest.
>>
>>122792402
I want to see FO4's weapon and armor crafting system in TES6 somehow. Even something along the lines of Way of the Samurai's sword collecting and customization would be really neat.

The ES series thrives on letting fans do the work. For some it's "mods", for others it's "open source" lore.

Most people are just boring fags who at best can argue some meme opinion they believe in because they read it somewhere. They aren't unique individuals and they barely have brains.

Basically mentally ill spectrum posters who don't even try.

>10 years
It's more like two and a half centuries. I don't think "magic" is the right word to describe it. Nobody ever seems to notice any actual changes in climate. For most people and things, "reality" is a constant, how things actually are, so if and when it changes, they might simply change with it.
>>
>>122801787
>Retroactive changes that induce reality-bending situations is a pretty core element of ES lore.
I know that, but the key issue is not the alteration itself, but rather why it was changed and how said change was used within the games. For exemple, the reason why Zenimax choose to maintain Oblivion temperate jungle was both because it didn't want to potentially alienate Oblivion fans, as well as that they could partially reuse the previously established enemy list of Oblivion.

I just installed and modded skyrim and this is the first time I've seen or interacted with the NPC. The mod is 3.0

also I tried to google and I guess he's supposed to die and I take his helmet so I tried to kill him with the console and he's essential somehow. I also tried to remove that but setessential (id) 0 didn't seem to work

I'm not saying it's not an issue, just that it's the same issue with every ES game. Bethesda are lazy shits, and we really shouldn't accept the quality of their games, but the insane lore that comes out it has made things a lot more interesting, and one of the few things they do right is letting fans evolve the lore instead of taking complete control and saying "this is exactly how things happened, and every other theory is wrong".

Make the face a little less "perfect". Maybe make the brow and chin a little less angular. Try to make her look less angry. The skin texture is also part of it--it has no blemishes or any real change in skin tone or anything. Also, that scar looks out of place and discolored. I'd also personally lower the cheekbones, but that's just me.

I doubt it very much. I'm still not sure it was possible for Bethesda to add some feature showed in the gamejam video if they had taken more time to work on Skyrim. Remember the seasonal foliage? I wonder if it was even something real. If it was'nt a lie, I would love to see that in the next TES game, but again I doubt that Beth do that.

I think it is good thing that the thread is slower due to the Falout 4 launch recently. This way we have opportunity for slower conversations and discussions.

Also I cannot wait to purchase a new computer capable of running Skyrim & Falout 4, I just imagine porting the hestia mod and see her blasting away the mutants :)
>>
>>122806834
To play devil's advocate, it could have also become a performance issue. I can easily see it becoming a problem when it's updating every single tree within your viewing range while you're moving.

I need some help, nothing works.

I have installed XP32 Extended, Dual Sheath Redux and every second weapon appears at my feet.
Installed Equipment Overhaul 4.25, same thing.
Yes, I'm running the SkyProc patch.
Yes, I'm running FNIS.

Every fix I can find is "install a custom skeleton lol". Installed the normal XP32, same shit.

Can someone please fucking help me?

Bear in mind also that the gamejam video was them given free reign to make dumb shit without having to worry about optimization or balance or actual gameplay implementation. Stuff like seasons was probably never implemented because console RAM, whereas spears were probably more a matter of them not being able to conveniently fit the skill set within the purview of another category, since spear combat is inherently very different from two-handed swords or axes or whatever.

Skyrim got fucked by consoles and by the release date. It's obvious when you look at stuff like all the cut content regarding the Civil War.

Virtually every single game made since 2005 was built for 512MB of RAM. Now they're being built for 6-8GB.

RAM and storage space have always been Bethesda's biggest limiters. FO4 was their testbed for what the new consoles are capable of, as well as to try out some new engine stuff. TES6 will benefit very much from it.
>>
>>122809608
Just need to look elsewhere and stop sipping all that which exits from Todd's throbbing penis.
Wasteland 2 and Divinity Original Sin were good alternative in the TB top-down genre. We just need a decent team that can put up a game worth of Morrowind or Daggerfall.
>>122809847
But games for the 8th generation of consoles are already parsecs behind their PC counterparts. By the time TES6 comes out game development will have been dragged down by them once again.
You're thinking of 8GB of RAM (5 actually, that's the weakest link of the XBONE) now, but you need to do that with the mind of 3 years in the future.
>>
>>122809847
>>122810165

So there is still hope. That said, the fact that Bethesda seems to have learned nothing from Obidian for Fallout makes me worried about how less of a rpg TES VI will become, Skyrim being hardly one to begin.
>>
>>122810470
Yeah, about that. You'd be surprised how many people there are who actually like FO3 better than FONV. Since Bethesda feeds the masses it's only natural they ignored most of the good things Obsidian did.
>>
>>122810165
>By the time TES6 comes out game development will have been dragged down by them once again.
Bethesda's games don't really follow the curve of "popular trends", though. They've always focused on shit nobody else does while also being vastly behind on the stuff that other people do focus on. Other games will for sure suffer, but I don't think Bethesda games will be particularly worse for it.

>but you need to do that with the mind of 3 years in the future.
I am, though. Developers will do nothing but get better at how they use those 5GB is it really only that much jesus fucking shit microsoft, and while that also means that graphics will hit a plateau very soon that's never been a major issue with Bethesda games anyway since they always look like shit.
>>
this might be a common question, but what the hell happened to seasons of skyrim?
>>
>>122810728
You're missing the fact that hardware limitations impose limits not only on the pretty side of graphics, like textures, but also on the amount of graphics they can cram into a single place. That's how you go from Balmora to Solitude, passing by Anvil. They have to shrink everything, or section things off like with the Imperial City.
As for the 5GB, there's always the possibility Microsoft will patch the OS to allow games to use more memory, but at the moment that's the limitation.
>>122811025
It's not common, why are you asking about it?
