How do you guys get around the optimization problems?
I have a Radeon 295x2, and a i7-3770k.
Even with that much vram my fps fluctuates like a motherfucker.
Just wondering if you guys could offer an Arma newfag some tips.

increase your pagefile size for your operating system. that helped me a lot (my computer is much lower-end than yours, though).
also, if you can generally get a >60 avg. framerate when playing alone in an editor mission, then the problem isn't on your end, ultimately. the problems are with the server you're playing on.

Does disabling Windows search and indexing make any difference, or is this placebo? I have 12 GiB of DDR3 RAM and a Geforce 740 on an Asus motherboard.

r9 290, 4770k here, doesn't really affect much for me. Might help him with the 3770k but at that point he may as well just go for a processor upgrade because that performance level out of an nVidia GPU will cost way more than the CPU upgrade.

Searching and indexing can be a pretty big hit on the CPU so it could be an issue. Worth a shot, at least.
Anyone have any clue when this game will be optimized so it doesn't run like Shit all the time? Even on my pc I got AMD 9590FX and an R9 290X and 16Gb of DDR3 RAM, yet my fps is so unstable and constantly fluctuates

AMD processor is the big issue there. Single-core performance on AMD processors isn't great, and Arma relies pretty heavily on single-core performance because it only uses two cores right now.
They're adding in DX12 features with the next expansion in early 2016, so I'm hoping that will help it use more of the PC and get better performance.

lel. its never gonna happen. Even ARMA 2 was left unoptimized and laggy as fuck until Dayz made it popular and got BI off their asses, and by then PC hardware was way more advanced than A2s "recommended" system specs and it STILL ran like shit. The only time A3 will be optimized is in 3-4 years when all PC hardware has surpassed the current hardware that A3 was made for.

does JSRS suck now or something? It kills your frames and manages to sound almost the same as vanilla now? I remember JSRS2 in A2 the guns actually sounded powerful and not so machines, and the sonic snaps were way better + that comfy equipment/canteen sound effect when you moved seems to be gone.

don't bother with JSRS unless you can handle it. when the shooting starts I literally drop 15-20 frames yet it palys fine when I don't have it on.
Arma 2 here, have a question for you guys, is Jackal realistic mission, as in solo 1 man infiltration and so on? as sending 1 operator seems to be like splinter cell material.

BIS hired a decent audio engineer in the past year, they go out to the shooting range with good mics sometimes, and they're putting programming time into making sounds more realistic (attenuation is the big buzz word they're using).
