They said the items only drop from raid battles, and they do only drop from battles that are marked as raids. The daily limited battles that give you seals of bravery but -aren't- marked as raids don't drop the items.

The droprates for good stuff are low enough that I don't know why anyone is clamoring for Nexon to remove it from the non-limited battles.

That has never ever mattered. Those boxes only show a small subset of the entire drop table.

Similarly, your choice of the random button or the ? boxes don't matter either. What you get is predetermined and when the server is lagging you can even get the item long before the boxes cheekily show you "picked" a box next to a good item.

If you're using the wiki values, I'm fairly certain those are completely off. It should only be about 11-15m per level for each of them.

I don't have actual numbers on me though, but I leveled 4 characters to 90 and there's no way I did anywhere close to 1000 Autumn Reed runs.

Karok's revamp will bring absolutely nobody back. NA's karok playerbase doesn't exist, literally nobody cares about the character. None of the old players will come back for his revamp, it won't draw in any new ones and current players probably won't even make a karok to try it out.

We might get some people back with the Kai and Vella revamps since Vella in particular has always been pretty popular.

The biggest revival this game is going to see in the near future is Hagie's release, since that'll be concurrent with Lugh. Even then, new players are going to check the game out and quit before Ainle like always, and old players will lose interest with Hagie and quit again when they realize he's boring as shit and half-baked.

Is the solution to completely rework how the story is structured, possibly including multiple story bosses of S1 in their own map? That would take a lot of effort for the dev team.

For starters, fix up perilous ruins so that it doesn't look so awful. As the first area you play in, it's a really poor representation of the game as a whole.

Package most of the Episode 1 missions into 'Prologue" and allow it to be skipped, beginning directly at the Gnoll Chieftain fight and allowing them to start Episode 2 immediately afterwards.

I think that'd be good enough to at least smooth things over. Hoarfrost doesn't look terrible and leads into some bosses that are at least interesting and suitably challenging for a 1st proper area and then into Ainle which is actually decent and will probably hook any player that would actually like the game anyways. Plus then Ruins of Sanctity come across as less of a blatant rehash.

In complete honesty, I would advocate they trash pretty much the entire 1-50 from scratch so that it's graphically and design-wise up to the standard of current content, and isn't just a parade of blatantly recycled procedural dungeons and filler bosses. One of the most common issues I see new players bring up is how they feel like levels 1-60 were a dull steamroll and didn't really push them to learn their character's mechanics properly or git gud, so they were totally unprepared for level 60+ content where things actually start getting difficult and using your character properly begins to matter. I know they'll never do all that, but it would probably be the best way to salvage the dogshit earlygame.

It does. Honestly easy Elchulus is a pain in the ass since if it starts flying it tends to waste way too much time if you're trying to farm during 2x AP windows where you only have a few hours.

That and I'd imagine anyone new would still get hit by the DoT and end up dying due to the stalling putting them at 1HP and not being practiced enough to finish it off.

Use counter drain to absorb off CD. Throw your crystal out, stack it to 5 hits, and detonate it off CD. Use L (Hold) if the window is too short for you to reach LLLL, otherwise LLLLL is more effective for both damage and MP.

I think if you have enough speed you can throw, stack to 5, retrieve, throw, stack to 5, detonate in under 10 seconds. But that'd only work on sandbags.

I'm not really sure how the armor breaking system, works. The safest bet is probably 'don't get hit', but I definitely get the impression that higher-level armor takes longer to break than lower level armor. Going from level 60 gear to level 80 gear when S3 hit I went from having S2 raids break a piece of armor with every hit to facetanking like a shitter and most of it surviving 'till the end of the raid.

I used to find it far more annoying back when I didn't carry Temporary Armor Repair Kits, but now that I do I hardly worry about armor at all.

Running Away and Standing still for 30 seconds will drop any boss aggro on you as long as you aren't alone. So repairing armor mid-fight is really easy.

I think the only thing that really disappoints me about the Karok revamp is how unarmed combat is still completely worthless.

The whole idea of giving a better clash buff for clashing unarmed is neat, but it still gives you no reason to actually punch things after throwing your pillar and with the boosted SP gain from unarmed removed it's completely worthless.

I really would've liked to see them give unarmed combat itself a niche. It's actually pretty fun using unarmed combat but currently it's never really worthwhile and the revamp relegates it purely to pillar throw -> clash -> pick up pillar.

No idea if you can impen them, but you can get out of the way if you use charge (or whatever his dash is called) when you see the cloud of dust beneath you.

She has two variants, the single tail you have to react to and she does 3 in a row if she shouts and the screen shakes.

Are you level 90?
Make a purple one, run your daily Muir until you have enough stones to get it ~+5 and you'll have enough attack to avoid getting booted out of everything. It should cost you less than 2 mil in total.

Running the S3 maps and S2/3 Raids are probably the best way to make big bones if you're poor and you'll be able to get on most raid trains with a purple 90.

Step 1: Canibalize the Perilous Ruins and Hoarfrost Hallow re-hashes. Re-distribute their levels in the parent areas and make certain each mission is unique.

Step 2: Update Ainle to be structured consistently like the Season 2 and 3 areas are.

Step 3: Well, we just cannibalized all the clones, so it's time to replace them.

Chapter 4 was about keeping Gnolls from teaming up with the fomors, so create an area that exists between the Perilous Ruins and the Prarie and play off the story of interception properly.

Not too certain about the other two areas, but bottom line is keep those Unique and keep them to Season 2 and 3 standards. If they want to know what to do with themeing, follow the Mario Conventions.

Step 4: Give all Raids a Kid Icarus/Smash Bros styled difficulty setting that runs from 1 (lv 10) to 9 (lv 90). Of course certain raids would have their usual level minimums, but it would keep raids from becoming obselte.

Step 5: Update the fucking raids. Season 1 Raids rationalized that Faster = Tougher, therefore by the time you reached Colru he was literally doing Sonic the Hedgehog Shit.

Step 6: Politely ask Mabinogi for some enemies and sprinkle in 3-5 or so redesigned Mabinogi monsters thoughout the missions. Because, you know, we're like a prequel.

Step 7: For Normal and Hard Mode Stages, make the hard-mode elemental enemies appear. Not as strong and definitely toned down, but just have enemies who have enough poise to keep from getting stunlocked out of existence.

Step 8: Tweak the stage bosses so they feel and look unique to fight. They don't have to be as original as, say, the Raid Bosses, but give them things that make them seem unique. They started finally getting that concept once Rorchestte started rolling around but they didn't completely learn their lesson until Season 2 where there was naturally more pressure to make each boss in a stage unique from one another.

You're pretty much spot on except for the fact that S1 raids in general are still the best set of raids and Coloru especially is probably the best single raid in Vindictus. They could use some updating, but they certainly do not need to be slowed down or made easier. The whole Idea with S1 raids was that when they were active, they were aggressive and threatening enough to limit your damage options severely. That's why the whole term 'sandbag dps' came about, because every character did significantly more damage when a boss was held down and you actually had time to get a 4th smash out. S1 raids were all about managing the bosses attacks and getting minor hit&run damage until you had an oppourtunity to hold a boss down and do as much damage as possible. That's why virtually every S1 raid, including Colru, had some mechanic that would knock down the boss for several seconds and give you a brief window to wail on it. They actually went back to that design with S3 stuff, though only Lord Glas is really fast and aggressive enough to where it makes a difference.

S1 endgame was still the best endgame Vindictus has ever had. S2 raids and the general S2 endgame was absolute shit by comparison, and part of what's killed the game so completely. S3 is still too young to tell but it's probably a step in the right direction.

Probably. I think gear progression was actually possible the worst thing about S1. If you were poor, there was no practical way to make money. The game was far too focused around spending hours and hours farming the same few missions in Fomorian Base or Sewers in order to produce gear that you could sell for a few mill a pop. Once you had yourself 'endgame' gear (read: a +10 level 60 weapon and BH/swift or BH/ingkells armor) there was nothing to do anymore except farm for more money, buy side-grade armor for fusing/fashion and spend too much money for minor stat upgrades.

Devcat had never anticipated stats ever getting out of control so there was really no balance around caps and you'd end up with goldbuyers running around with +15 black hammers and +10 armor, 10k defense and ~15k attack facetanking raidbosses to death and doing 70% of the damage in a full party.

And the introduction of R9's was cancer, because of course there was no weapon revival option and no rune to protect gear, so every scroll was a crapshot that risked ruining your character. Not to mention the introduction of level 70 gear with Ancient Elchulus stratified things even more. Suddenly you had people going around with +12-15 70 gear, fully scrolled in R9's, popping all 3 kinds of stimulant and making every bit of endgame content a joke.

By comparison, S2 actually wasn't so bad once they introduced nighthawk. ~14-15k attack was actually more than enough to do pretty much any S2 content, contribute meaningfully and complete in a reasonable amount of time (reasonable by S1 standards). It was really the community that made gear stratification in S2 such a problem. A few goldbuyers get 80 gear, realize how excessively powerful it is and suddenly everybody demands that you have 19k attack for a raid with an 18k cap because it is absolutely reprehensible to imagine a raid taking longer than 10 minutes to complete.

That would be my vote. Some minor mechanical changes would also be interesting. I'd give my left nut to see a few new moves tacked onto some of the old raids.

Particularly, I think some of the old raid mechanics have become a little obsolete. It was worthwhile at the time to have someone running the catapults on Colru because Evie was the only character with a holding skill, so that knockdown was precious. Now that everybody has one, there's really never a reason to use the built-in knockdown tool.

I think Ancient Glas was a really clever solution to this. Having the boss be immune to knockdown and flinching except during as brief window after you've successfully performed the raid mechanic sort of reconciles the old designs with the way that character power has creeped over time. I would actually like to see that become a petty much universal mechanic: have raid bosses immune to most or all CC out of brief windows related to their in-built raid mechanic. The only obvious exceptions being Karok's clash and Lynn's flinch.

The breakoff would be kind of obsolete in an level 90 difficulty, wouldn't it? Raid mechanics being relegated to farming purposes kind of defeats the point, like Thor's shitty stillborn breakoff gimmick.

If I were to change Colru to be an endgame raid again, I think I'd start by making him normally immune to knockdown skills, and become vulnerable to them for a brief period whenever a catapult hits one of his breakoffs. Indicate it visually by having the glow in the breakoff area fade for the duration. Once the breakoff is actually broken, he becomes permanently vulnerable. I'd probably also make his party wipe deathballs, the rocket punch in green mode, the first hit of the 2-hit combo in gold mode and the last hit of the charging uppercut in orange mode all red attacks. I would, however, slow down the channeling time on the black ball move to give players more time to get behind the barrier or for a lynn to flinch him.

Also, I believe the S2 raid scaling in KR is now the same as S3. Solo is 45% of the full 8-man party's HP.

I honestly don't think the ground fire attack is a problem, outside of the obvious issue that it remains active while the boss is knocked down.

The original concept of Colru is that each of his movesets heavily favour certain classes over others. Grey destroys most iframe classes that simply can't keep up with the long combos and active frames, but is trivial for fiona, pillar karok and hurk, who all have ways of dealing with those attacks and dealing damage; Gold is trouble for slower classes that have trouble dealing with its small openings and short downtimes between attacks, but is great for characters that can get in quick damage during the gaps between his attacks, like TS vella/lann; Green is a problem for any melee class (except fiona and karok post-revamp) but great for ranged classes; and orange is good for the slower classes like scythe evie and lynn thanks to the longer opening and shorter attacks and is also just generally easier than the other 3.

Anymore, almost every class has some way of dealing with the fire shockwave and still dealing damage. Lann can slipdash->doublecrescent, Fiona can counter it, etc. If it was still the 'melee no fly zone' it was back when Colru was new, it'd be a problem, but the fact that certain melee classes simply have fewer chances to deal damage during the green mode is fine considering that every sort of character has at least one mode where they have a harder time dealing damage.

If you revive your weapon and try again, each weapon is effectively 2 rolls, which means each +10 has, on average, a 55.6% chance of making it to +11. That probability is consistent all the way to +15. If you have a +14 that hasn't been revived yet, it has a 55.6% chance of reaching +15 across 2 attempts. Unrevived weapons statistically favour success, which means on average it shouldn't take more than 2 fresh weapons to reach the next enhance level. 3 if they can't be revived again. In the end, you don't actually need all that many +10s to end up with a +15. Enough to make it impractical to buy your way straight to a +15 80 or 90 weapon at the current prices, but a 70 is certainly within the realm of possibility, as is a 60. With the sheer amount of attack you get off R7 scrolls, even a +15 60 is still relevant at 90.

When you consider a healthy number of players are whales pouring rune after rune into making those +10s, the number of 15s running around in the server currently is pretty believable.

I have fond memories of Colru since I actually got to use my small shield in there. Elchulus is the only other raid I used it on back then, but dragons had a whole other set of issues.

Really the reason old raids are easy is just stat inflation and power creep. If they change some of the old raid gimmicks to red unblockable and pad up the stats they'd be decently challenging again.

The one raid change I'd urgently want is a flinch animation for ogres (and Titan). It's mostly for Lynn, but animation resets just look bad and make it annoying to play as and with flinch characters.

I had a +10 regina spellsword sitting on my 85ish Arisha for a really long time. After some update I decided I should break it and pass on the materials for gearing another character. It went 10-14 over the course of about five minutes before breaking.

When it comes down to it, it's Vindictus RNG being Vindictus RNG. My Karok has trouble reaching +10 without coupons and has yet to get anything above 10.

I think I've mentioned this before in this thread but their randomization is very likely done by server time, and depending on the way it's implemented, that could mean that certain times and dates could result in the actual success rate being lower or higher than intended if it's done in a poor way.

And since the icecube event proved that they seed inventory contents as a randomization factor, that could be an influence as well. Though I've never seen any empirical data to support it, most weaponsmiths I've talked to insist on running a battle between each enhance and claim that doing so makes them succeed more often. The anecdotal tendency to believe that could be read as a sign of inventory seeding, though it's really anybody's guess.

The fact of the matter is that the odds of actually reaching +15 are so slim that any numbers we glean are going to seem anomalous due to the sample size. The game's population simply isn't large enough. If every player still active right now started enhancing a +10 weapon, odds are that nobody would end with a +15.

S2 will be a big difficulty spike from S1 because there's a gear jump. If you're soloing map bosses, you'll want to aim for around ~15k attack in order to clear things in reasonable amounts of time. If you're finding it too difficult, try the 50-69 difficulty instead of the 70-80. That difficulty level is there specifically for players just transitioning from S1 that don't have the gear or stats to do the higher difficulty yet.

As for the damage they do, yeah that's just what they do. Devcat tried to compensate for the fact that near the end of S1, people had been able to stack so much defense that they trivialized map bosses, so they just made everything in S2 do millions of damage. My best advice to you is just to learn the boss' patterns and don't get hit. Take your time with them, being risky isn't going to make them die any faster. For the most part, the S2 map bosses only have like 2-3 attacks that they cycle through, so just learning their pattern and staying safe is a pretty quick lesson.
