The dlc download itself is really small in the ps store
How from usually handles dlc is that they'll patch all the content into the base game a little while beforehand and then the dlc acts as the key to get in the new areas and get to all the new content, this allows people who don't have the dlc to still interact with people who do get it
Because of this people were already in the dlc areas before it went on the store for DaS2 atleast
Plus it seems silly to do 2 big patches that make changes to the base game within a few days of eachother, you have to pay money to put out patches on the networks

There's definitely some negative space where it's clear that they had to rush things out but Skyrim and FO3 were WAY worse when they came out. In FO3 for instance you could skip half the game right from the start with some creative jumping and very easily make the game unwinnable if you went to one location too early.

Yeah, the early chalices are pretty shit, they really liven up when you get to Loran, Isz, and depth 5 pthumaru.
Basically, just stick to it anon, I know you can do it.
As for the build, basically focus on strength leaning quality, the one on the left is my main but if you don't like tools then I'd recommend the one on the right, if you feel like 20 end is too much I'd recommend putting the extra points into skl just so you get that extra visceral damage, going from 40-45 or even 50 str isn't gonna increase your damage output all that much.

Also the fundamental rule of successful BB invasions lies in understanding that your character needs to resonate with pvp opponent in order to initiate invasion. And to resonate you need to be physically close to the host in another world at least for a moment (so the host gets touched by the "circle" that appears around your character while using the Bell).
So it's advised to constantly move around while trying to invade to cover larger area and increase your chance to resonate with a host. Also invade in choke points which everyone traversing the location has to go through.

This ain't DS1, BB works differently invasion-wise.
For all my 500 hours there never was a situation where i invaded someone who was just in the boundaries of an area. I never invaded ahead of them unless they deliberately crossed the area already and then backtracked.
Just pay attention to this next time you try to invade. You will never invade an idler staying near the lamp post if you ring the bell even in 10 meters away.

It works similarly to Dark Souls zone boundaries, except they are more strict. Illusorywall has even done tests on this. I have no clue where you even got this idea from.

I would do more random non-super-cursed dungeons because you can find neat stuff like that, but there really is no point as the reward from them is minimal
Also, the items in the chest didn't "break" I just came up to it from the correct side and had an "Open chest" prompt, which just picked up the item

The summoning hasn't actually changed since DS1, they just made it automatic because your bells continue to ring, you will be summoned/invade in the same ranges in which you would see a summon sign in DS1
The zones seem a lot smaller than DS1 though, a good rule of thumb is the same room, but you can for instance be summoned up the ladder in cainhurst if the host never pulled the switch or even made it up the stairs

I always stand in this cove, in the spiders room, and often invade someone just entering the room or someone who hasn't even opened the door
An example is also shown in this webm >>122690232 where they haven't even aggro'd the spiders, much less reached that spot
