Stuff like clamber is just retarded since the devs purposely make parts of the environment just high enough to be out of crouch jump range and force clamber. In a relatively fast paced multiplayer fps you shouldn't be forcing players into animations just to navigate environment.
Something like boost which is multi directional and short range could work and still feel like halo. It's not allowing players to fly around the map and adds to engagements and strafing.

Additionally casual people would literally commit suicide without it, after going through so much other shooters (Reach/4 even)

Higher base movement speed and sprint speed and thrusters. That doesn't just mean deadzones for sprinting, entire locations are just larger just to accomodate for thruster duels (a great strength of Halo 5) and the like

I feel like that just reinforces my point. I feel like bungie got spooked by COD etc and added it in reach and we'll never be able to close that box they opened.

A better approach would be no sprint no clamber and just have directional short range boost. Keeps the good part of making duels more interesting could use it for skill jumps. Animation locks just suck.

I feel like I half agree with you, in that with sprint I doubt we'll get amazingly memorable maps like Lockout or anything but I still think sprint works in game as it is right now.
But let's be realistic: in a post CoD world we're not going to get a mainstream shooter without sprint simply because it'd alienate general audiences a lot.

Obviously not, lack of sprint was a complaint by casuals for quite a while

Crouch jumping letting you surpass animation lock creates a nice skill gap. Chaining them also obviously gives skilled players an advantage too. I don't really mind the animation lock so long as it's not some flashy "look at how mobile I am" thing, and as long as it's still possible to crouch jump. It was one of my biggest complaints in the beta because of how GP was binded to crouch, but I'm personally pleased with crouch jumping's return and its relationship with clambering.
