I say this as an OB with Concierge, I backed three years ago, I have continued to chip in as I could afford and justify it. But the last year has been so much talk, and so many sales and so little actual visible progress that I have run out of faith, and if tomorrow is yet another "It's almost ready guys plz be patient and buy a another ship" I'm gonna turn from a serious promoter of Star Citizen to most everyone I encounter IRL and in various MMOs, to yet another jaded, jilted, cynic who feels like my faith and patience has been abused and tells people as much when the topic comes up.
In particular I feel like the marketing/community department has been intentionally holding back info and keeping stuff out of public sight for hype and fundraising reasons. Frankly, if I am right, that's bullshit, you asked for 6 million dollars and promised us an inside look at the game as It grew, we gave you 90, and have gotten a paywall into an area of exclusive content and a window into development that has gotten more heavily tinted with each passing week.
We see fighters go on sale that have never been seen before by anyone, we got to CHOOSE what the freelancer looked like.
I bought into a dream, and this kind of deflection in pursuit of money is not what I paid for. I',m not even saying stop the ships sales, I'm saying stop keeping us in the dark to generate maximum hype and money on the ship sales. Stop holding the cards close to the vest because you're afraid of what trolls might say or do with that information, the game is funded, frankly, fuck them.
Give us what we backed for, information, plenty and often, I can deal with delays I cannot deal with this coy bullshit marketing does in pursuit of attention and money.

I gave away an original backer account, which had the privilege of unlimited alpha access - a privilege which got removed from OBs recently, before any notable alpha of SC appeared.
I received 50 bucks for it (which buys me a complete finished game elsewhere).

They charged for module passes. Module passes are not alpha access. Alpha access was given out to early backers on a first come first serve basis and never cost more than whatever package you bought. Even the really cheap packages that didn't have LTI had alpha access.
I'm not exactly sure on the details of how melting or refunding module passes works, but it's not like they fucked you out of whatever money you spent on them. Even if you didn't get your money back you got something of equivalent value (UEC).

There he been almost no serious developments to the game in year. "social module" Is a barely functional test environment in which there is almost nothing to do, I understand, It's alpha, what I am saying it that social is not FPS or Multicrew, which were both supposed to have happened long before now.
We were supposed to be already bored with FPS and discussing how great MC/2.0 was now that most of the bugs had been worked out. Meanwhile we have been told that gret progress is being made, but we have seen a couple canned demos and a fat handful of screenshots, half of which are behind a paywall.
Either stuff is being made and held very tightly(we know some of this is true because of that big content leak a while back) OR far less progress is being made than we are being told and we are being strung along in the interest of continued fundraising and avoiding a refundpocalypse.
Either way, the marketing and community teams are not playing a straight game with the people who literally gave them jobs. this corporation and project exist only because we parted with our cash on a promise from a person we felt we could trust, However I feel like the integrity of the business has been handed off to people who are less worthy of that trust.
