People played tekkit because it was what they had, romanticising old things with vastly limited options doesn't make for a thriving server.
That, and with a thread that reaches page 9 often, we clearly no longer have much of a thriving community in /mcg/, even big successful servers we had before would top out at 12 on the best days and taper down to like 3 people on at a time eventually.

That said, a vanilla server only works if you have creative, motivated people around, who are either good at building, good at designing minigames, and/or good at redestone

Modded servers can at least last a month or two if things go well

How do I fun?
Whenver I try to make a new modpack centered aorund Vanilla+ I ALWAYS end up with a basic modpack that has everything. I start with quality of life mods, like treecapitator and backpacks, then gradually give myself more leeway, until finally I wind up with a mishmash of everything.

This, I make my own skins and have done a few commissions, and with my own personal skin, I edit it every so often to match progression when im on a server. Like when I start out, I change my iron plate armor skin to a basic leather armor plate, then the longer I play on the server the more I altar my skin, goign from leather, to some bits f metal, to metal plate, then orante metal plate with gold trim on the armor.

Most of them are from Armour's workshop, you can craft unique block by block models to wear, some of them like the robot and boots are from open computers, while the blue halo and crowns are developer only items from botania. The goggles are from tinker's workshop and thaumcraft.

Uninstalled Asie's fork, its broken and bad. For skins you add them to your mods folder, for models you need ot download all three addons and put them in your mods folder.
