So, /fgg/. How much do you train and what is your routine? Warning, this might sound autistic.
Personally for me I train everyday. I wakeup, take a shower, and train execution (mainly just motions) for 15 minutes before I go to work. Some time after I get home I watches matches of my mains for about 30 minute then go train either my combos or new tech if I found any. Finally I practice a little bit more execution 15 minutes before I sleep. On the weekends if i'm not too busy i'll usually train for another hour each day.

Now that I think about it my only experience with Tekken, aside from one of the old PS2 games when I was younger, was watching a buddy play it online on his 360 and every match was just "who gets knocked up first", then they'd get combo'd to death in one string. Never really took any interest in it after that. Even today it trips me out that the characters still move, collide, and react like they're in an N64 game despite how much animation and mocap technology have advanced. It's very uncanny valley to me.

I'd use tracking moves. I spent an hour learning how to deal with that shit and it turns out you can cancel moves and side step. They would always teleport after like 2 hits so I'd just bait that shit out and use the one button super. Worked for like 88 percent of the cast. they were ASS at the game.

I never knew how to train. Like, once I can reliably get one or two BnB combos down, I never touch Training mode again. The only thing I really do is play matchmaking, over and over again for hours almost every day. Back when I was playing regularly, I'd probably play for 4 hours straight after coming home from work or classes. I could never tell you what I was doing or why. I never really thought about tactics or strategy. I basically just turned my brain off and fought on instinct, and after a couple thousand games, my instincts became pretty good. Not great, but above average.
Eventually though, I hit a wall. My instincts couldn't really help me any more. Higher ranked opponents just wiped the floor with me, while lower ranked opponents were easy. I decided I had reached equilibrium: this is as good as I am, and as good as I will ever be. Then I stopped playing fighting games after five years of 30-40 hours per week.
