Why is this card still allowed to exist? The only one true downside to the card is that it's so jack-of-all-trades that occasionally there isn't a spot for it in a deck such as Freeze Mage. But in pretty much every other run of the mill deck it's amazing- EVEN AGRO!

That's why you end up with cards very slightly below curve with stats with random elements yet controllable effects are far below curve.
Just look at Antique Healbot vs Madder Bomber. One is a 3/3 that will heal face (not even targeted healing) and the other is 6 split damage with a 5/4 body. That can be the equivalent to a 1 dmg board clear + 3 targeted damage if the dice roll in your favour and yet the stats are relatively higher

As someone who plays almost exclusively Control Decks and Mage/Rogue combo decks, I do have to agree with you.
Normally I'm used to alt+tabbing every so often when my opponent is taking the more complicated turns, but more often than not games at least go quick enough that they don't out stay their welcome.
With the current meta, I find I'm mostly doing whatever I'm doing and occasionally checking back on the HS match I'm babysitting.
While I think Reno is a good card for the game, I do think he also highlights the issues of how basic and shitty HS really is as a card game.

Think about it like this.. at whatever moment in time, a certain play is the most optimal. The 'best' play. Players with experience know these plays and predict them, they even instigate them to bait them into a counter.

Dragon Paladins usually run Lay on Hands + Healbot/Guardian of Kings. The problem with trying to run 1 ofs is that there aren't that many Dragons to work with.
There's Consorts, Guardians, Azure, Chillmaw, Blackwings, Chromaggus, Ysera, and maaybe Deathwing/Alex/Onyxia.
Hungry Dragon is random, but could work with it's amazing stats, and Volcanic Drake sucks as a 6 drop and would only work in controlly style decks that run a lot of EQ+Conc or EQ+Pyro after you've mopped up the board. But those have bad synergy with the bulk you're using.
The one thing you realize about dragons is that there is no usable 6 drops (You can get Consort > Chromaggus turn 6 or Ysera + Coin turn 6, but that can be unreliable) and it really sucks having to choose between all the good 5 drops like Azure Corruptor and Consort and then playing your 5 drop off curve the next turn.
If Reno were run in a Dragon Paladin deck you would have to start using a lot of the B-Tier or even C-Tier dragons to thin out your roster.
Personally, I think Brann will be a much better fit with his Battlecry synergy in Dragon Paladin.

Dude I can tell you probably don't play much fighting games. You probably watch streams of it from time to time but if you actually played at a decent level you would understand why you can't quite compare it that way to a card game.
This is a bit hard for me to explain but in a card game it's hard to know what to play around and what is a real punish to a poor play because you can't ever truly know what cards are in your opponents hand or what you or they will draw next.
So you just Mae the best of and try trading as best as you can without knowing if your playing into their hand or not.
In fighting games stuff like that doesn't really happen in the same way. Once your at a certain level you know exactly what your character can and can't do. You know which of your moves can be punished and what can't be punished by every other character.
So yes, yomi, or mind games, does come into play more and predictions matter more between two very high level players.
BUT the shitter player is not going to understand as well as the high level player what can be safely done and what can be punished. So if the high level player sees the shitter going nuts, all they have to do is sit back and play safe while the shitter kills himself by constantly over extending

It just means you have to start running unexpected burst like Mindblast or Lava Shock so you burn them down before they get the Reno out.
A lot of people will get greedy and try to get maximum value out of him by waiting until they're within 3-4 of on board lethal.
