I think I would have. It's a bit silly to drop a second Dark Mage on the player at the halfway point when they already got one a few chapters back and they've started promoting, and I don't think he was fleshed out nearly as much as he could have been. Maybe make him show up with Aversa in a bunch of cutscenes pre-timeskip as one of Validar's lackeys, and have him join you promoted as the game's Pent character or something. Also, the meme localization NA did to him was terrible.

In Nohr he has a very strong start considering not much besides Kumeraga can hurt him severely in his opening map. He's extremely helpful in killing the assholes on the stage.
He slows down pretty hard once chapter numbers get in the 20s or so but he still has his uses (tanking Exorcists for Aqua in 24)

So I lied about the special guest appearance. I had forgotten that you can't go back to the castle after 27, so my plan to have Zero kidnap a Maid and then use her as an emergency Bifrost failed. I even tried doing the second castle defense map for a Maid, but I guess you can't Capture in those. There was a special guest this time, though, as I still hadBenoitas a Dark Flier, who gave Ophelia the perfect amount of damage necessary to win.
This took an embarrassing amount of attempts, compounded by all the extra time to redo 27 over and over, but I finally fucking did it. When I was moving over my screenshots, somehow I ended up deleting the Garon kill, oops. Kamui got him with Astra.
Anyway, everybody gets buffed to hell with drugs, we rush through as far as possible, and then a path is cleared so that Foleo can Vanished Disaster Lutzif I had put him in the proper position that wouldn't be necessary, Shigure can Vanished Disaster after, and then Lutz can run up and let Belka smack Takumi. Then Ophelia Warps in and finishes the job.
I was fucking horrified when I saw Ophelia's first crit go off against Takumi's dual guard, but thank god, she got a second crit which just barely put their combined damage to 80 for the kill. Not a single bit of damage wasted. Thank you, Chosen One.

Let's assume you're getting both around chapter 18-20, which is the range a lot of people get the kids in. The only way Mitama can compare is if you're ready to burn a ton of resources (Parallel Seal/Dread Scroll and Arms Scrolls) on her, unlike Velour who is ready to go right out of the gate. Otherwise Mitama's best class is fucking War Miko out of the gate, which doesn't compare at all to Managarm (or however you spell the name of Garou's promoted class).

I used both, Velour is much easier to obtain since you can just glue him to a womb immediately and probably unlock the paralogue by chapter 21 or so. Meanwhile Asama joins both terrible and late to the point where if you want to even use her you need to support grind like a madman just to get any reasonable use out of her. And even when I did use her for IK she was stuck as a War Miko since I really didnt feel like further support grinding her with Kanna to unlock Berserker and then proceeding to burn at least 2 Arms Scrolls on her when I could instead be having fun with the S Rank weapons. She was still fine as a Miko but Velour just starts great and doesnt stop.
Mitama doesnt have this issue on Hoshido since you get Weedman pretty early. I like Mitama a lot but she takes way more effort than she's worth in IK which is a genuine shame.

His name is Domynar and he's Raymond from MK404's hack's evil twin from an alternate universe where the planets aligned during pregnancy and he killed Raymond in the womb and became the protagonist of the hack instead. However, when he got inevitably NTR'd by Eliwood, instead of cowering like a beta and going on with his life, he flew into a murderous rage and squished the life out of Eliwood with his bare hands. He then offered the entire army to Nergal and ordered the wizard to craft him a suit of armor using their quintessence. The armor pulses red with blood due to the anger felt by everyone at Domynar because of him betraying them. He then killed Nergal and added his quintessence to the armor, and walked through the Dragon's Gate into the Outrealms. Learning there of universes where Eliwood survived and had a child, he has made it his sole goal to find and kill as many Roys as he can to further empower his armor with their feelings of hatred and despair so that he may one day become indestructible. He gained the scar on his face when he clashed with Walhart on the Outrealms when the latter was on his quest to conquer them after the end of Awakening, and though he ended up adding the Conqueror's quintessence to his armor in the end, the battle taught an important lesson to him: never play around in battle, and never go easy on someone.
He also takes special joy in finding alternate versions of his brother and killing them in inventive ways for being weak.

Flannel is noticeably underleveled due to being used in only 2 out of the 5 chapters he's been available for and only has a C rank with a waifu (B if you're lucky). On top of all that the first 3 chapters in Touma have a very strict deployment limit, so the chances of him getting off the bench are extremely slim.

Nigger, this takes literally every shortcoming Awakening had with gameplay and fixes it. The story's still pretty shitty but you're getting 3 games multiple chapters longer than Awakening for the price of 2. That's a hell of a deal, even before the art book and case thrown in.

She is my waifu, but I want to have a playthrough with the best 2nd gen characters as possible. Severa and Inigo are already top tier characters due to having easy access to galeforce and the mercenary class. You then have daughters having the possibility to inherit unique classes that none of the parents know. For example Nowi/Gregor Nah and Tharja/Henry Noire inherit the troubadour class; if Vaike marries either Sully, Nowi or Tharja his daughter will inherit mercenary class. And then there's the pegasus knight class. I'm already sure that Donnel will be paired with Sully, and Nowi and Tharja are in my list because of galeforce. Said two girls are pretty okay to me, but ultimately Cordy stands as the superior waifu. I only listed Cordy in there in case I cave in later on.

iirc if you bought all the DLC in packs, that was something like $50; god forbid you're dumb enough to buy them all individually
paying $90 for one game vs paying $80 for three games, and something like $20 for DLC if yen-to-ameribucks holds true, last I saw
$90 for Awakening vanilla + an almost-standalone DLC campaign
$100 for Fates vanilla x2, IK, and current DLC
I guess we'll see if more DLC pops up in the future, though
