It doesn't change anything on the desktop application until you get in the beta or log in with someone else's account and download it on your computer. Why does Mercy seem so flawed as a healer?
There's little incentive to actually kill her because unlike TF2's medic, she doesn't lose her most important ability upon death (Revive teammates. = Invulnerability to you and your heal target) Besides her being unable to heal her team for what? Maybe 10 seconds?
Being Tf2's medic gives you a massive game-changing ability IF you take the precautions to staying alive and coordinating a push with someone.
While Mercy gets a similar but much more powerful ability, it's fucked up balancing wise because her ultimate is infinite range AND brings back the entire dead team, killing her doesn't drain her ability or even wastes it if she dies during the animation. This is easily one of the most game-changing and powerful ultimates in the entire game because you're effectively reviving a bunch of shitters to kill or soak up enemy damage again.

Additionally, almost every character has a skill that negates all positional mistakes. For example: caught on the ground as the rocketess Pharah? No problem, just press this easy button and you're instantly in the sky, where you're most effective.
Ran yourself into a bad spot as the fragile but swift Tracer? No problem, just press this easy button and you're instantly back where you were before.
Got caught in the open as the close-range slugger Reaper? Just press your invulnerability button and float over to a healthkit. You get this and many other movement tools completely free, there's nothing you give up for them, like sacrificing health with a rocket-jump.
The tools Overwatch gives you to solve problems are contained in a single, brainless button rather than a complex and difficult set of movements and/or offensive measures. The entire game revolves around identifying the correct rock-paper-scissors situation to press your button, then pressing it. There is no serious skill of any kind involved. You're going through the motions of what you think a video game entails.
The miniscule difference between a week-old Overwatch player and a year-old Overwatch player will be lost in the cloud of instakill ultimates, teleports and AOE abilities. This game is transcendentally shit, and there is no escape from it. This is the very profitable future of FPS. Hell. Population: you.
>Overwatch may be boring and shallow as an FPS game on account of all of the 'canned skill' abilities eliminating the impact of mechanical skill, but as a strategy game it's good! Just look at how many characters there are, and how many abilities! Surely that leads to good strategy gameplay.
Makes sense until you consider that Overwatch is trying to pretend it's an FPS game, not a strategy game. All of the ways in which Overwatch is different from other real time strategy games (the camera, the pace, the lack of resources to fight over) are flaws.
Let's consider Overwatch's strategy merit compared to another the-player-controls-one-unit strategy game like DOTA. Each player has ~3 skills and an ultimate, so there's parity there.
The camera perspective isn't top-down, it's first person. This makes zero sense for a strategy game and inhibits the player's ability to get an overall picture of what's going on. The controls also make it impossible for the player to ever control more than one unit, like they can in DOTA.
There are no map resources to fight over - as a strategy game, the only strategic element is the win condition.
Overwatch is shit as either an FPS game or a strategy game.
So it won't sell by its quality.

The hero limit thing is obviously just them stalling, they're going to add in more heroes but it's obvious with Genji that there's already power creep: he's got double jump, wall climb, primary fire, alt fire, dash (that resets on kills AND does damage), and deflect; meanwhile you've got older heroes like Bastion that have primary fire and alt fire, so I think they're trying to avoid making new heroes be just straight upgrades over other heroes (Genji is arguably a straight upgrade over Tracer, or certainly borderline).

Blizzard/Activision fucked up pretty much any chance for this game to become relevant when they announced how the game is going to be sold
This game could have easily been in the lights for a very long time if they made it F2P with rotation heroes per-month.
It could have been the next Dota, the next Smite.

I think I just figured out that uneasy feeling of Paladins artstyle/gameplay.
Lack of contrast lack of lighting and lack of impact with no "Ultimate". The characters blend in too much with the arena (They even changed an actual good looking character into a bland one that's almost the same color as the landscape. Left to Right) Yellows, on yellows etc.
The lack of actual lighting. This ties in with contrast. Everything is constantly bright without proper dark areas (or "Champions"). This gives a very "Wrong place in the uncanny valley" feeling. The weapons lack impact or have poor sounds when the fire. Combined with the fact the projectiles are slow moving. I can go on but I probably shouldn't.

I'm not a Blizz employee, but it makes no sense from a business stand point. The game doesn't have little content, no ranked and no carrot-in-a-stick/progression system, so it's very easy to turn off the casual crowd, and like it or not, we need their money for the game's success, it's easier for them to come back to the game with content updates and help muh esport scene.
I guess it helps for me as i want to try first to see my semi-toaster performance and the netcode, and second to see if i'll enjoy the gameplay by actually playing it.

Played a few rounds and the game is fucking trash. Cards give RNG shit like 40% chance to do double damage on the archer chick or 20% chance to inflict poison or prevent healing. Some give stuff like 60% more mount speed. Imagine getting that at match start when everyone rushes to the capture point. Cards also go on cooldown when you die but they have different timers so if you're getting spawncamped or something you're never going to have all your cards up at the same time Which you will have less of anyway if you're behind because you start with one out of three random cards and get a choice of one out of three every level.

Seriously, the whole card system needs to be scrapped altogether but the RNG doesnt stop there. You have to capture a point to spawn a siege engine to kill the three enemy gates. Guess where the points spawn? Randomly all over the map, sometimes closer to your base, sometimes not.
What bothers me the most is that weapons seem to have a max range. If the enemy is out of range you're not doing less damage or are less accurate. You just wont hit at all.

Widowmaker, just like all other aspects of Overwatch, is catered towards the Casuals.
It's much easier and almost as efficient to just 100% charge bodyshot people and follow up with another quick shot to kill most characters. There's almost no reason to quickscope or even go for headshots when you charge so fast.
The entire game is a casual fest. No ammo. No fall damage. No respawn waves. You can see the enemies health. "5 PLAYER KILL STREAK." Abilities on cooldowns. And of course, Ultimates, that don't lose charge when you die and are often "I win" buttons.
The game looks fun, but when fucking TF2 has three times the depth, you gotta fear for the longevity of the game.

I'm tempted to contact blizzard support and tell them how much I am legit excited for this game but not having access to beta is killing my hype. Having to wait for release without even a taste is just making me want to give up and never touch the game at all.

TF2 is a joke in the competitive aspect too. Demo is so broken they had to limit it to 1 per team. By that logic, there is nothing preventing the community to setting up heros/teamcomps/skills limitations on OW for it to become competitive.
