The nigga Daigo entered his first fg tournament (SF2) in 92. Everybody played SF2 casually, but Daigo was already playing competitively in that time. When Daigo as a 13 year old is able to get 9th place at a national tournament for Vampire Hunter, you know damn well he was probably playing something before that game.

It's a chain combo system, just input what you want to do immediately after your move hits.
Also once you've got basic combos down, try learning dustloop combos, it's pretty much the best way to maximize corner damage with Sol. It's a link, but there seems to be a really big buffer window.

I kind of had the same issue but sol doesn't have many hard combos. Even dust loops aren't hard when you get the j.d timing. What is kind of wonky for me is remembering combo routes. Just stick to simple things in the mean time if you don't want to grind out combos and want to get a feel for how the game plays. That's what I'm doing and it isn't bad, but you'll quickly get to a point where you're going to do it anyways because you confirm a simple combo and want more damage but don't know the routes

The strange thing about Tekken x Street fighter is that there has been nothing about it for years and then suddenly Harade out of nowhere says the game is mostly done a few months ago.
A Tekken that attempted something new for the first time in over a decade with crossover characters sounds like something that could revive interest in the genre but it sounds sketchy at this point.

well, tekken in particular is supposed to be like that. there's a whole generic movelist that each character works from. the reason why every character's full crouch right kick feels the same is because it is.
the differences are in the stances and some unique moves. for example, bryan has a crouch dash and back sway, but that's just like paul, but bryan has a taunt which is an unblockable knee with poor range that gives combo opportunities on hit. that, along with his personal movelist in neutral stance, makes him vastly different from someone like paul. and, of course, lei (jackie chan) has like 8 stances or something. that's pretty different. steve has no kick moves aside from generic kick moves and instead has more movement options.
it's stuff like that which will differentiate a character. you're right that it's not so obvious, but sometimes it is. you'd think jack has better punches since his arms are so long and huge and he's a robot that can extend them and power them up, and you're correct. they are.
virtua fighter is the king of boring on the surface, though, because that game is really trying to imitate real martial arts and has an emphasis on throws where tekken doesn't.
