It's 1:00 AM. I'm a little sleepy.
I am putting together a flowchart (a-la-/mu/) of music similar to LiS
Currently working on a few different thoughts for the flowchart. If you guys have any ideas, please share. Current plan is 3 categories; Victoriaish, slowcore, and indie pop.
Pastebin of collected (unsorted) songs so far:

If you want to contribute, please contact me on steam, or reply to this post.

Thanks to photoshopgril for putting together the background image and the second chart,
polaroidgril for assembling the album covers/artist names/etc. onto the background image,
Dr. Zaius for helping in general.
I have a torrent of all the games music, Morali's OST, the Vortex Club party, all the licensed songs (most in lossless format), and all the albums they were taken from.
There may or may not be several songs I just found. I'm going to investigate them, see if I missed any. I'll probably post about them next thread.

Reminder not to waste your life while you still have one left to live. Your passion is out there waiting for you to pursue it, along with that special someone with whom you can share that passion--and your heart--without reservations.

I'm sorry anon, but if I did I would be lying both to myself and to you, and I don't want to do that. But I know the folks in this thread are not as far gone as I am. You all still have a chance, and it would pain me dearly if you didn't grasp the ornery bull called Life by the horns and ride that sucker straight into the paradise you wonderful people all deserve.

I'm going to assume that since you're on 4chin you're probably still young. Just know that whatever problems you're going through, they are only temporary. They will eventually end, and you have the power to change your life, no matter how impossible that might seem. In addition, it is a mistake to assume you are alone in this. I hope you get the help you need. Good luck.

I'm envious. While I loved many aspects of Life is Strange, it exacerbated the state I was already in. The endings didn't help either, but the damage had already been done by that point.
When does the official soundtrack release?
Christ, it's like I'm in a fucking blog.
>>122446950

>>122446943
> it exacerbated the state I was already in.
I was feeling worthless, and this game showed me how easy it can be to make a positive impact in other people's lives. Me, and everyone else is always waiting for some connection to just fall into their lives. Even if I had nothing else going for me, I could be that difference maker, even if it's for one other person, and that would make my life worthwhile.
It also showed me how short and fleeting life can be and how silly it is to be ruled by fear all the time. Tying back into the previous point, people aren't as scary as they can seem in your head.

Possibly nostalgia, I replayed the game after finishing it and episode 1 has an amazing atmosphere and feeling to it compared to the others. Maybe because it felt like an innocent teenage drama with a mystery to uncover while later episodes deal with stronger themes of death, kidnapping and sacrifice.

>Jefferson became a silly bad guy from Disney
>David came to save us.He's a former-soldier but he can't even fight, just listens teenager's orders. Even he doesn't know she has some time travel powers.
>Victoria's with us in the dark room.Laying there and we can talk her or not.Just it.
>Nathan get killed,Victoria too
>Nathan knew something about the storm but they cut it.
>Warren explained Max's powers(!) (thanks warryn) We found out her power causes/related with Chaos Theory and storm. It's not like we didn't know or something.
>Storm is only coming for Bay because Chloe lives in there but Max's the one who keep changes the time
>Prescotts story erased.Nobody even mention their name.
>Rachel's story fucked too.She isn't doe,or butterfly,bluejay or even shit.
>Spirit animals thing died.Blue Butterfly's Chloe just it.
>Chloe dies again in one of endings (unpredictable) It gives you a lesson: You shouldn't have used your power. And you shouldn't play this game. Now erase your choices and cry like a bitch.
>Chloe has to die thing comes true, Cemetery scene explained with that.

I finally got around to finishing To The Moon.
Go play it. It was literally made for us.
>>122466741
Oh k, I just noticed it wasn't in the op either while older polls seem to be, assumed it got lost.
>>122466850
Are you trying to trick us?
Atleast one of the steam reviews says
>One of the most emotional games you'll ever play
and atleast i'm not ready yet.
>>122466342
most people prefer Bae ending because at the very least it has some kind of message, to move forward, to fight for what is important to you and to stop trying to fix the past. Bay ending has nothing to say. It exists purely for forced tragedy.
Why did Max use the Time Distortion Sword to cut the storm
Can anyone think of a LiS related IGN for League?
>>122467003
It's hugely emotional, but it's immensely SATISFYING. It tricks you at first and towards the end it feels like another horrible self-defeating decision must be made, but then it gets clever on you and it aaaall comes together.
It's seriously like post-LiS therapy, it even goes through some of the same gutwrenching visuals but then it fixes everything!
It's only about 3 hours long, too.
>>122466959
>it wasn't in the op
There were a bunch of other polls too but no one has bothered updating the strawpolls in OP.
>>122467108
What's your favorite champion? Maybe we could pick something up from there.
Otherwise you could name yourself Max Caulfield like the new Caulfield hammer item
>>122467006
The supposed message that baefags insist is there is complete bullshit. If Max was supposed to learn to stop trying to fix the past she should have just left things as they were when Warren explained how the storm was created. How convenient she learns this eye-opening lesson AFTER she changed the timeline yet again to save Chloe. But God forbid she go to the same effort for anyone else and warn people about the tornado.

Thought there might be, that one just stuck out since I still had it open. Couldn't be bothered hunting for any other potentially lost ones at the time, and I guess it's lucky I didn't - how could I ever have doubted our based archivist wasn't on top of things?!

I never said it's a great message or a well executed one without logical flaws. Still doesn't change the fact that she learns the lesson at the end of the bae ending and there is still no lesson to be learnt in the bay ending.
>>122467350
>.. she should have just left things as they were when Warren explained how the storm was created
-in Episode 5 (during the storm)-
Max: Hey Warren i've got time-travel powers and probably i'm causing all of this
Warren: Oh Max i believe you.. didn't you hear about Chaos Theory (says some scientific shit we've heard) So that makes sense...
Max: OK so my power's origin(!) explained. Anyways where's my photo? I need it
Warren: Here
Max:OK.Bye
Ah,never gets old..
>>122469142
>>122467350
Also, isn't it kind of normal for the protagonist to learn their final lesson at the end of the story? What kind of stupid argument is this to say "hurrr Max could have learnt the lesson earlier than when she did, hence it doesn't count".
Well, yes. she could have learnt the lesson in episode 2 at the fucking junk yard or when Kate kills herself and then that would have been the end of the game. But that's not how storytelling works, you genius.
Is the hospital in Arcadia Bay or not?
If so, Kate will not be ded?
Because fuck the bay.
>>122469330
If you need to force your protagonist to be a retard to make sure they wait for the climax, you're a shitty writer.
>>122469297
>>122469297
>Woo, art gallery!
>Max, halp, the storm, I'm ded!

>Oh shit, thanks Warren I'll keep that in mind.
>Get the fuck off me, past-Warren. And feel free to go to the diner tomorrow morning, it totally won't blow up or anything. Anyway, Chloe, you're about to die so let's avoid that. Nothing else of any importance is about to happen though, let's just go back to your place and fuck. Send your mom to work or something, it's fine.
>Oh shit Max, a storm, what'll we do?! My mom doesn't deserve to die in that fucking diner!
>lolwhups
It's easy to get sad to the sad songs... But does anyone else get pretty sad even with the happier songs?
Naughty has made me cry before. Just had a dream where I heard it and in the dream, I also felt my chest tighten and the feeling of wanting to cry. Since it plays all the way back in episode 2, it makes me miss the happier times, the times where everything about the game felt great and made me smile. It's such a happy song and it just makes me even more upset.
Fuck this when will it end
>>122469484
No, that order is the very basics of story telling. Protagonist has a goal, faces struggle, overcomes or succumbs to said struggle, then takes something away from that. Whether that's personal growth, a specific lesson or just a funny punchline, doesn't matter. The resolve comes AFTER the struggle, not in the middle of it.
I don't disagree that Dontnod are clearly terrible writers whose entire story is relying on the fact that Max has to act several times like a complete retard, but the actual structure is not wrong. Max shouldn't have learnt her lesson before the real climax even began. If anything, it's Warren and his ridiculous explanation that Max just believes at face value, that is out of place here.
>>122467350
You wanna lesson? Okay..
Bay ending: Max shouldn't have used her power, she shouldn't have saved Chloe, and even you shouldn't played this game. Also Chloe causes the storm because fuck the logic.Wait what about Max's powers? Only God knows it.Now, erase your choices and cry like a bitch.
Bae ending: Your choices will be matter at least. Wait, what about other characters? They left other characters's fate unknown, we don't know they died or not. Chloe's alive and storm's gone forever. How? because fuck the logic.
>Epilogue for both endings: Fuck the logic and use your imagination:)

>Epilogue for both endings: Fuck the logic and use your imagination:)
>>122469908
that pic isn't real y' know? that's why Max confused when she saw it.
>>122470098
Choices matter so much less in the Bae ending. Everyone is either dead or too traumatised to give a shit about any little thing Max might have done that week, and Max is leaving range Bay behind and will never see or be impacted by them again.
In the Bay ending Max remembers everything and will take that into her future interactions with everyone (probably causing another storm since there is no way for her to continue on as if she never got powers, but that's another issue).
>>122470324
Shit man, at least BP disingenuously said sorry, way more than Dontnod's done.
Dontnods more "what should I do?"
>>122469947
>Anyway, Chloe, you're about to die so let's avoid that. Nothing else of any importance is about to happen though
Seriously, that was easily the most idiotic part of the entire game. Max just barely escapes the tornado, then she doesn't mention the tornado at all to Chloe. How did she even expect to survive that timeline once autopilot Max takes over? She wasn't in any way aware that autopilot Max would bring up the lighthouse. Even real Max didn't know that the lighthouse was safe.
>>122467350
>If Max was supposed to learn to stop trying to fix the past she should have just left things as they were when Warren explained how the storm was created
FOR GOD'S SAKE PEOPLE!! CHLOE HAS ALREADY EXPLAINED IT IN EPISODE 2.
But game devs wanted to make ''we couldn't explain Max's powers but at least we can make this dialogue, they don't give a shit anyway ''
>>122467350
You're forgetting the most important factor here. Max is willing to possibly fuck things up more to bring back Chloe. If she were still alive when she went to Warren, she probably wouldn't have done anything further
>>122470643
How the hell did they even justify the Bay ending after Max already went back to save Chloe while knowing full well that it was her causing the storm? Why did we not have the cliff conversation in the focus?
Seriously, why the fuck does that Warren conversation exist? It's the worst written piece of dialogue in the entire game, it makes Max look like a moron on multiple levels, and it completely obliterates the flow of the plot.
>>122470458
>Choices matter so much less in the Bae ending
>In the Bay ending Max remembers everything and will take that into her future interactions with everyone
Here we go again.. Both endings are shit i agree but;
In LiS's original timeline where game started when we saved Chloe in the bathroom, also where you started to made choices. In the Bay ending Max remembers everything but you erase ALL YOUR DAMN CHOICES. Chloe and David never argued in her room, you never talked with Wells,Kate didn't commit to suicide,Frank, all your relationship with all people... Max remembers everything but that's not that point.
In the Bae ending Chloe lives and at least some of your choices will be matter also Max always tried to save Chloe and shit. Also we didn't even know everybody's dead or something they said it ''we left blurry'' that's why we shittin' with Michel about using our imaginations:) bud.
>>122470638
I remember this and Max's response was all whatever to Chloe and in Ep 5 she believes Warren. It was frustrating.
>>122470996
>Max remembers everything but that's not that point.
How is that not the point? Her experiences with people over that week will directly influence how she treats them going forward. Just like she's a bitch to Vic in the classroom focus if they were on bad terms or nicer if they were on good terms.
If Vic is dead or traumatised, it doesn't matter in the least how Max treated her.
That your choices happened does not mean they matter. That they didn't happen doesn't mean they didn't matter.
Your choices happened in the Bae ending, they didn't happen in the Bay ending. They matter in neither because this game sucks and we're all chumps for playing it, but they would have much more impact on the future in the Bay ending (which is also a giant plot hole).
>>122471167
Chloe brings it up again in ep3 and Max accuses her of being funny.
God damn Max why are you so stubbornly moronic?
This shit annoyed me enough at the time when I was still curious about the storm and it seemed to be something worth looking into, but at least back then I thought we were moving towards an explanation by investigating the Prescotts.
>>122471167
Because Max didn't give a shit about the storm (even she sees visions) until Episode 5. She interested with Kate and Rachel's story.
And honestly in during the storm,if Pompidou starts talking and says me ''OMG UR POWERS CAUSE THE STORM'' i'd believe it because it's already happening.
>>122470996
>Here we go again..
You brought it up man. This is what happens when you rank one ending over another in any way instead of uniting in blanket hatred.
>>122470458
You forget that a tornado hits Arcadia Bay roughly every 4 years according to the game. If we are to believe bayfags, then there is no way to possibly survive a tornado, the townpeople are all incapable of seeking shelter, so they are doomed to die anyway. You sacrificed Chloe so they can have 4 more years to live.
>>122471379
I think that was in reference to Oregon in general, but yeah even in ep1 that struck me as a really weird thing to point out like it doesn't matter.
But also Max's tornado was a magic double-moon tornado, so it's probably more lethal because the writers need it to be.
>>122471357
>we'll never get a Silent Hill secret ending where the dog did it
>>122471486
>probably more lethal
>telephone polls are still standing
>main home structures are still standing
>cars are still right side up sitting in the street
Hell, that's about an EF2 level of damage. EF2's rarely have any body count outside of people who are struck with debris being outside
>>122471216
>How is that not the point? Her experiences with people over that week.Just like she's a bitch to Vic in the classroom
So doesn't it change everything? even timeline?
>That your choices happened does not mean they matter. That they didn't happen doesn't mean they didn't matter.
Dude my whole point is Max always tried to save Chloe in whole game. And in the end you let her die, erase your choices and shit. How could even possible that it doesn't mean they didn't matter? Just Max remembers it and probably she can't use her powers anymore. But she remembers everything, people and relationships.. But it doesn't change the fact that choices are erased.Because they erased.
Anyways I'm not gonna argue with you because i just said ''Both endings are shitty enough''
>>122471647
That's just muh budget. Warren says there were flying cars from 9am trapping him in the diner, and apparently the train was pushed into the street or something etc. It was clearly intended to be devastating. Sacrificing Chloe's life to save some buildings from being repainted is just retarded, even by Dontnod's standards.
>>122471486
>so it's probably more lethal because the writers need it to be.
They never actually established that though. It was caused by Max's time travel, nowhere did they mention it was exceptionally strong because of its unnatural origin. The very fact that the tornado just affected one tiny coastal town kind of leads to the opposite assumption, that it was an exceptionally weak tornado.
>>122471739
The point is Ep5 contradicts itself and eps 1-4 at every opportunity which is why it's a giant pile of shit, and why both endings are shit, and holy shit someone shout already.
>>122471583
The dog ending is amazing.
>Pompidou inside the tornado controlling it.
>"So it was all your work!" Max OTL
>Pompidou kisses her face. Fade to black
>Credits of LIS with dog barking music. Best ending ever.
>>122471779
A wizard did it dude, they ain't gotta explain shit, it's as strong as it needs to be for them to force their stupid choice.
>>122471849
Caps anon where are you?! Save us with your cathartic fury!
>>122471739
Just as Max can't prove that she can stop the tornado or that it's even her fault that it exists, she can't know for certain just how much damage the tornado will cause. When you're given the shitty ending choice selection, you're putting faith in an ability to stop the tornado or accepting your choices might have caused the tornado and moving forward, hoping it isn't as deadly as it looks. Guess what? It wasn't as deadly as it looked.
>>122471889
Oh god, you know that shitty bark effect on old piano keyboards? Just imagine Obstacles but with the lyrics replaced with that barking melody.
Forget replacing ep5 with something well written, forget an extended epilogue, forget DLC. Just give me this.
>>122472129
Or you could just, y'know, watching the tornado and see what the damage is, then focus back and kill Chloe if it's too much to justify and see if that works. Or even go back, save Chloe, then change nothing else and see if that works. Or go back, save Chloe, then evacuate the town and see if that works.
There's literally no reason for Max I go on faith here.
>think about setting my phone's text ringer to Max's text notification sound
>realize I have no friends and get no texts
>>122472262
Like I said, it was a shitty ending choice selection. My point is that if we have to look at it from the terrible perspective they presented us, that's what happens.
>>122472384
Except not really, since word of God says there's no kiss in that ending because it'd be innapropriate with all the death and destruction, but also we can't see what really happened because we have to move on and leave it ambiguous.
>>122472356

Make it the consequence chime instead, because every time someone contacts you will be so unusual that it will feel pivotal, but then really just turn out to be a telemarketer or some shit and will have no impact on your life, just like LiS choices.
Personally, I'd like to have 'holy shit, what do you want now' and 'time to shut the fuck up okay' as my text and ringer tones because I hate getting calls and texts (because it's usually fucking telemarketers). I really wonder what kind of guy Nathan would have been if he hadn't had all his problems.
They really defined him. He wasn't even really a person anymore by the time we met him, just a culmination of behavioural issues and abuses. Which is both why Jefferson knew initially that he'd make a good target, and a direct result of his manipulations - easy to puppeteer someone harder and harder once you really strip them down until you're all they have left, when they're just a husk who'll politely wait for you to murder them because there's nothing left in them that would to enable them to simply choose not to die.
Kate's pretty defined by her current predicament, but we still get a hazy idea of the sort of person she probably is outside of that, based on references to the past, her general behaviour, the hospital scene, etc.
We get a feel for Vic from others' comments, the AU, her reconciling with Max.
We can separate Chloe from her trauma through flashbacks, the AU, character growth.
But it's interesting that we're never really going to know what kind of guy Nathan is at a default setting.
I guess that's why he's still quite a polarising character, because he's hard to connect with on a casual human level. You might connect to what he's going through, and you might connect with what he's done, but there's no real "him" in between. Which makes him both hard to blame and hard to forgive.
He literally is just a tool. And I find that so damn interesting.

If the multiverse exists and there is a universe for every possible outcome, do you think there's a universe where LiS lived up to it's potential, or was it always doomed?

Seems like the writers always wanted a forced sad ending, no matter what. Maybe there's an alternate universe where Donnie Darko and The Butterfly Effect were never made, thus these movies never inspired a whole generation of hack writers to end their time travel stories in this particular cliché way.
In that universe, the writers were instead inspired by Back to the Future and LiS is a comfy, humorous time travel adventure with a second season already confirmed.
>>122491489
Stop making me feel those feels.AU me, you'd better build a fucking universe jumping machine and deliver the true ending.

>Even real Max didn't know that the lighthouse was safe.
If anything her visions had her thinking the lighthouse wasn't safe. The finale is pathetic. Just because the game is about characters doesn't mean the story doesn't have to make sense. And even ignoring any plot illogicality, this story at so many points only "make sense" if Max is a proper retard for some of them or a malevolent bitch for other. Same goes for other characters for that matter. It's so infuriating. We weren't even rewarded with satisfying endings for enduring and having to fucking actively participate in her stupidity.
>>122476480
This sounds mostly reasonable, but I think there's definitely some character quality to be found there. His fascination with the morbid is very much something he's personally intrigued by. Seeing Jefferson as a father figure maybe drove him into the dark room relationship, but his obsessions are his own and just because he didn't "want" to hurt anybody pursuing it doesn't mean he wasn't at least willing to take that risk. He's disregarding other people left and right. I don't think we can just put all of his behaviour down as a product of circumstances out of his control. He has some personal will and desires and if anything, the fact that we do know that he does know how rotten the stuff he does is and that it does hurt people strenghtens the blame. Same with his chill AU self supposedly still being involved with the dark room.

I don't think there's supposed to be very direct connections, it's just an allusion to David Lynch's work that acts like a clue to what's going on in the game.
Lynch is known for repeatedly using the theme of dark, twisted things going on behind the peaceful facades of small, rural towns. White picket fences, etc. . .
I think that's basically it. They're just using the allusion to hint that there is something like that going on.

>>122504537
Only that in TP there actually WAS something evil and ominous going on and people WERE involved in shady shit somehow. Here it's just some washed-up hipster taking photos. So I don't know how well that setting applies here.
But you are right, references in general are just little fun hints and mostly used for the sake of it anyway. I didn't mean specifically TP references either. Just that there's quite a lot of stuff to discover in LiS obviously, and I used to eagerly look at that. But now that I know most of it just doesn't lead anywhere I can't get myself to look at the things with the same eagerness. Maybe it even CAN be puzzled out somehow, maybe they DID put some elaborate thought in there (i. e. Rachel and native american stuff) but at this point it just seems too badly made for me to waste my time on that. The dev straight up saying the nightmare is "Max's subconscious" put the final nail in the coffin of trying to find some greater interconnected meaning between all the stuff.
>>122505087
Why would you think this when there's literally a scene in the game that proves otherwise?

It's just that you can't have too demanding standards with such a niche game, and a secondary ship on top of that. There's a handful of good stuff out there, - but chilla/haize collaborating and then putting something out there of that comic-y quality really is disappointing when normally each of them (primarily chilla) can be considered of a go-to for decent Maximum Victory stuff.

Besides. It's possible that Max and Chloe left Arcadia Bay the next day, after they did look for survivors. Which would explain why both of them looked so calm. I really could not see them just driving by the Diner without even checking and driving straight out of the town.
Max and Chloe are actually girlfriends since the night between Wednesday and Thursday, but Max doesn’t know because she was in a different timeline so a few months after the tornado Max “accidentally” confesses and Chloe is like: “Dude I hope so we’re dating for a few months now after all”

Why did this qt want to end it all?

Possible answers:
1. supernatural storm theory that kills all things human indiscriminately, as long as they are human.
2. gods(Read: Max) think in absolutes, either Chloe or everyone else.
3. humans are wiped out except for two females which sucks because no one will repopulate the planet. Animals reclaim the earth.

Same. I'd be willing to give anything with Max and Chloe a chance. Hell, someone could write LiS books detailing what happens after the game and I would buy them.

While you'd expect a hospital to be marked as a major facility, it could just not be. Or it's located off the map.
Do we receive any messages while we are in the hospital, or is there a clock on a wall? I know the devs are known to not pay to much attention there, but using those we could try and estimate how long it took Max and Chloe to drive there.

It's the early name they gave Arcadia Bay, just like how Rachel was called Jessie(?) to begin with
>>122514543
But the in-game map misses other locations as well (the cemetery, which seemingly replaced the hospital ending). The hospital is obviously in AB, even if it's not directly marked on any of the maps.
>>122514906
2 is just the lumber mill.
It's hard to tell what 1 is supposed to be, given that this is an unwrapped texture. It might just be assigned to generic rocks on the beach, or some other nature texture like that.
>>122515263
Arcadia Bay was originally called Aurora Creek. Much the same way as Rachel Amber was originally called "Jessie". They changed a few names here and there, but there are hints of the old names in the game files.
>1 is probably Blackwell?
Blackwell is on the opposite side of the map, the empty clearing. Without going and checking, I presume the red building texture on the right is supposed to be the main building when the texture is wrapped to the model.

When you think about it does it really make sense for a tiny town like Arcadia Bay to have a hospital?
They don't even have a shopping mall.

No, the contrary of the contrary. Max and Chloe just randomly drop in for a few minutes one morning between Chloe's house and Blackwell. It's in town.
>>122515965
>When you think about it does it really make sense for a tiny town like Arcadia Bay to have a hospital?
Most towns of reasonable size have some sort of medical facility, even if small. What we see of the hospital indicates that it's reasonably small. Given that we're talking about a town with a lot of reasonably hazardous industry (a port and a lumbermill), and given that the town is a little bit out of the way, it's pretty reasonable for it to have such a facility.
>>122516001
The hospital must have been planned to be featured regardless of Kate because on of the endings was supposed to involve a hospital though?
Plus didn't Michel try to weasel his way out of explaining the Max in hospital gown concept art saying that she was supposed to be put into hospital after the Dark Room in concepts or some shit?
Either way, hospital was always considered.

But it's unlikely that it would have featured as a location on the in-game map given that it would have only been seen in the ending cinematic, after we lose the ability to even access the map. The cemetery is also not featured on the map, despite appearing in the ending.
>>122516294
>No, the contrary of the contrary. Max and Chloe just randomly drop in for a few minutes one morning between Chloe's house and Blackwell. It's in town.
No. It's not on the map and nowhere in game it's confirmed to be in Arcadia Bay. Thus you can't claim it's "obviously" there. All you have is your assumption. You don't even have time frames to support your time argument.

>>122516732
>You don't even have time frames to support your time argument.
Actually, we do.
Max wakes up on alt-Chloe's bed sometime around 8am (from the most recent text from Victoria). Then she bums around in the alternate timeline for a bit, talking to Chloe, William and Joyce. Then she jumps back. Then she talks to Chloe for a bit, then goes down and bums around in the house trying to get into David's files (this is longer if he's still there).
Then they go and visit Kate.
Then they arrive at Blackwell, during which they bum around in the dormitory courtyard for a bit talking to people. THEN they enter the dorms. Then Max gets a text from Kate, which indicates it's only 10:30am.
Yep, for all the stuff that happens between when Max wakes up (8am) and when they get into the boys dorms (10:30am), plus the travel time, the hospital IS obviously still in town. To add insult to injury, they always arrive at Blackwell at the same time (for obviously game design reasons), so there isn't just this random big chunk of time missing for when the girls may have skipped to the next town over to visit Kate. It makes sense that it's just a quick stop-over they made in town between locations.
It's in town. I don't even know why you're bothering to try to argue against something so obvious ...
>>122517465
YES, SIR!
I don't know why the hospital's location would be significant anyway. The idea behind the bae ending is that Max doesn't care who dies and who doesn't, that she only cares that Chloe lives. For Kate specifically Max is comfortable with her staying dead (if she jumped) by making the decision not to go back, after all.
>>122518220
I think it's wrong to say she doesn't care about anyone else. It's just that at that moment she has the possibility to save Chloe from guaranteed death so she secures it.
She obviously feels bad about those who didn't survive, if she didn't care she wouldn't have looked sad.

I'm at least glad that episode five proved that letting Kate die was the canon choice.
Kindly reminder :^)
>>122518431
Yeah, I'm not saying she doesn't care about others as in she doesn't feel bad, but that she doesn't care enough about any of them (who specifically lives/dies) as much as she does about Chloe. And again, if Kate jumps her death is guaranteed as well and Max could save her. And we know the Diner explodes, so Joyce, Warren, Frank (if you didn't let him die beforehand already) as well as the fisherman die as well. So same for them I guess.
Max doesn't even so much as ask Chloe how the week went (Nathan and Victoria could still have died) or look for survivors in the end. I at least get a strong "don't care" vibe.

There's too many unknowns to guess accurately what happened. Max rejoined the timeline during the storm after she prevented Chloe from going to the Vortex Club party. In that timeline she could have told Joyce not to go to the diner that night, or other people to get out of town, but she wouldn't remember it because it would have been before her consciousness caught up to the present. David also knew about the Dark Room, so he could have brought Joyce and others to it for safety.
I'm not saying people didn't die, because some obviously did, but there's potential for those close to Max and Chloe to survive.
Plus, it's possible that Max and Chloe left Arcadia Bay after looking for people. I don't think they would have just driven away immediately after the storm. The road would likely be blocked and they wouldn't have been nearly as calm as they were. No way Chloe would be smiling like that if she thought her mother was dead (And driving by the building where she would have been).
So that leads me to believe that either the diner was empty, or that they already looked and had their answer that people either survived inside/ evacuated to another location.
>>122519665

>>122519140
This is Max's grand crime that apparently caused a storm and demanded that she be punished.
She acted selflessly to save a girl that she didn't even realize she knew and the universe/ God figured that was enough to traumatize her for life. She, unwillingly, gained the ability to prevent that moment and then went through Hell just to learn that she shouldn't have intervened in the first place. Which, again, she did unwillingly.
The universe is fucked up.
>>122519798
Nah.
>>122520029
Yeah.
>>122519698
Everyone else died and the duo left it all behind to pursue a happy life together. The end.
The choice is SACRIFICE Arcadia Bay. Not let a couple of buildings get demolished while everyone hides in the conveniently placed network of bunkers that have had no foreshadowing beyond a tiny one-off reference.
>>122519935
So you think you have a point because it's easier to write a believable guilt trip when someone died?
>>122519750
Well, to be fair, if Max cared half as much about Kate as she cares for Chloe, she would have at least considered going back in time to try and save Kate after she learnt she can time jump through photos.
I always thought it was kinda weird that Max never even entertains that thought, considering Kate's suicide happened only 2 days before she gets that ability.
>>122520190

>>122520093
>The choice is SACRIFICE Arcadia Bay.I think I've already argued this point before. We're going in circles, aren't we.
"Sacrificing" doesn't always mean letting everybody die. Max has a choice between helping Chloe and helping people in AB. Whoever she chooses, she sacrifices the other side, letting them fend for themselves. She doesn't kill every single living being personally.
>>122520327
Are you that retard that argued with everyone Kate dying is the canon route sometime back in August and couldn't provide any arguments as to why but just called everyone autists and told them to play the game?
>>122520093
Even if it was only mentioned once, it still remains canon that there were bunkers. Plus, residents had four hours before the storm made landfall to either find somewhere to hide or to flee. Anyone who was still in the town, after watching the storm creep closer and closer, is responsible for whatever happened to them.
Not Max. And while we knew what the outcomes of the choices would be, Max did not and she would have had little reason to think messing with time again would cancel a storm that she assumed was caused by messing with time.
>>122520093
>The choice is SACRIFICE Arcadia Bay.
Exactly Arcadia Bay. Not Citizens of Arcadia Bay. So yes it's basically to get a couple of buildings get demolished. The End.
>>122520093
Well, then Dontnod should have chosen a different kind of disaster. A tornado simply can't purge an entire town of all life. It's physically not possible. >>122520093
In that case, the people of Arcadia Bay are doomed anyway. Oregon gets a tornado every couple of years. If you are saying that it's literally not possible for them to avoid death and seek shelter in the event of a coming tornado, then they're all destined to die next time a natural tornado hits the town.
>>122520807

>>122520807
>blatant evidence
How about you show it to us? I don't see any.
>>122519698
And these are unknowns to Max at the time of her decision as well. She doesn't seem to care and comes to a decision despite any of it (even despite certain knowledge that people are dead/will most likely die).
And I never really got the argument that they may have looked for survivors. Looking for survivors after something like that can take weeks and you need heavy machinery. And even if they peeked into the Diner the argument that she doesn't care/is willing to take that chance still stands - and then doesn't care about anyone beyond those couple of people after the fact either.
I see no room for any argument; there'd need to be ongoing rescue missions with police, ambulance and fire department involved for me to buy the idea that Max and Chloe really did something of value after the storm. And all that is secondary anyway, Max makes that choice only because she wants to keep Chloe alive, everything else she doesn't care about as much, including the guaranteed and likely death of people close to her, not to mention that of potentially a considerable amount of strangers.
>>122520509
If they're still in the town then it's pretty safe to assume they can't get out. Max is the only person there who has the convenience of rewind powers to navigate the place safely.
It is not canon that there are a whole bunch of easily accessible bunkers that everyone can just conveniently waltz into. We have no context for the bunkers beyond some existing (in unspecified locations) at least 50 years ago. Not one person ever mentions them, suggesting that most Arcadia residents don't know about them or that they ceased being in active use a long time ago.

>>122519698
We know Joyce is still in the diner in the end because Chloe says she is. If they had been looking for survivors they would be occupied helping them, not driving off.
>>122478473
This is also what boggles my mind and I thought about this a lot.
The theme of the game was butterfly effect and how even subtles changes can have a big impact.
There is literally no way Max's continuous existence and the experience of that week won't alter the fate's of people around her with or without her knowing.
It will never be like it was originally supposed to be had she not discovered the rewind powers, so if Chloe's survival summoned a tornado then I guess Max's existence will keep causing tornadoes for as long as she lives.

Except you missed out the courtyard scene, which is the busiest of the episode so far. So even if I were to grant you that the girls would just randomly pull an hour round-trip on a whim like that - and still arrive at their eventual destination at roughly the same time - your timing still doesn't make sense. You'd have to reduce your travel times to more like ~15mins each, which becomes too long for travel to some neighbouring town, given what we're told about Arcadia Bay being kinda in the middle of nowhere.

Well it will obviously require FEMA, Natl. Gaurd, etc. to fully repair the damage and find survivors.
While Max and Chloe couldn't personally do much, I believe they at least looked in some places where people they would know would be or got messages that people they knew ere safe. And if not immediately after the storm, then a few days after when phone service is restored.
I firmly believe that neither of the two would be so calm if they knew Joyce was dead. The Diner looked fairly intact, not like it exploded in that timeline. As established by the game, the smallest changes can have profound effects. One different action in the lives of anyone could have prevented the explosion.

Once they have their answers, more money, and had some time to reflect on everything, then they can start their roadtrip adventures.
even then though, both Max and Chloe will probably have some times where they feel like they're going to freak or have nightmares.

But this is just headcanoning for the sake of coming to terms with an ending. Like people said before, it's just cheating at that point. The choice is to at least be willing to sacrifize everyone - arguing that maybe some change somehow lead to something and that saved everyone goes against the nature of the decision. Then I could go and say Chloe survived the gut shot and faked her death so as to elope with Max - Max's smile and the butterfly not being a spirit like the doe being proof that Chloe is still alive...And that's just for us as players, my initial argument is that Max doesn't think about any of that. She doesn't ask or contemtplate, she just says "you are my top priority" and saves her despite certain knowledge that this means Kate and Frank are dead (in a respective playthrough), Victoria and Nathan may be, Joyce, Warren and the people she saw die in town are very likely to die etc. - even if she was somehow convincing herself that everybody will somehow survive because duh bunkers and duh everybody can save themselves from tornadoes that throw trains around hours before they hit land - she would still at the very least be taking the risk of them dying anyway.
And that's what the decision is inherently about for her. Either Chloe is more important than anything at all - or she isn't. With players justifying their choice by creating some in-between I get a bad taste but can at least understand some of the arguments why the ending ultimately might not mean "everybody died". But Max herself makes that decision in a manner where "everybody may as well die, whatever, I have to save Chloe". That's the reality of her decision as I see it.

The obvious answers that lie within the game when you actually play it. Maybe you should try it sometime.

>You still have zero evidence to back yourself up while I do.
"Evidence" out of your ass is not real evidence. You still have zero evidence to back yourself up while I do.
I guess my evidence shows I'm right, since you have none at all. Try playing the game sometime.
>>122522008
>You mean them talking to Jefferson and going inside the dorm which takes maybe like 2 minutes?
No, the courtyard scene which includes talking to like a half-dozen different people (Jefferson/Chloe, Daniel, Brooke, Ms Grant, Samuel), participating in a number of different activities (looking at the new stuff in the scene, flying Brooke's drone, optional photographs). Like I said, this is the busiest scene in the episode so far, so ignoring it entirely is pretty dishonest. It should be given AT LEAST another 30 mins going by your previous time estimates.
>The only absurd thing is your unwillingness to admit that your claim that has no support in canon material at all could possibly not be true.
What unwillingness? So far everything points to my argument being true. I have no issues with changing my mind on this issue if you can actually bring something more concrete to the table, but as it stands, the answer is still clear - the hospital is somewhere within Arcadia Bay. :)
>>122523225
>"Evidence" out of your ass is not real evidence.
Except the evidence was a screenshot from the game.
You still have zero evidence to back yourself up while I do.

>>122523203

Yes, that's correct. The obvious answer being that Kate dying is the most canon choice. Good job!

>Like people said before, it's just cheating at that point. The choice is to at least be willing to sacrifize everyone
Nah, it's not cheating. it's logic. Only bayfags justifying the ending to themselves call it cheating.
Everyone dying goes against any kind of common sense, experience, statistic and it's just plain impossible.
Yes, the choice was between willingness to sacrifice. The risk that people may die.
Doesn't mean everyone died. That's just retarded.

>>122523192
I can agree that the choice is about if Max feels that Chloe living is worth risking the lives of many more. Or if one life is not worth so much destruction.
But I cannot agree with the idea that everyone Max knew in the town is dead because it flies in the face of logic.
>>122523171
>TFW have yet to see tearjerker cuteposting involving Chloe comforting Max after having PTSD nightmares post bae ending
>>122523192
As far as I'm concerned everyone else is dead and gone in the bae ending. I refuse to waste my time dreaming up wish-fulfilment scenarios where everyone magically survived because Arcadia Bay just happens to have a bajillion nuclear bunkers lying around. Polarized was a miserable mean-spirited shitfest and I don't believe for even a minute that something so nihilistic and fixated on death would allow anyone else to survive.
Like you say I could just as easily pretend that Chloe survived and went to the hospital while some other beloved Arcadia Bay resident died and had a funeral. I'm not going to because the endings are still fucking awful and treat Polarized and babby's first theory as canonical.
>>122523995
Yeah, it shows that Max was more intelligently written with real human emotions of regret rather than "le everything is okay xD" fairytale writing as per your screenshot.
I guess your evidence shows I'm right.
>>122524046
A bunch of fics have stuff like that. I cannot remember any specific titles though.
There was one pretty intense one that comes to mind is where Max was in the bathroom looking in a mirror, and started seeing people she knew speaking to her about how she killed them. Eventually Jefferson appears and says she was a worse murderer than him and Max snaps, punches the mirror, then collapses on the floor sobbing and muttering that she was sorry. Chloe walks in and finds her like this.
>>122523247

I was waiting for you to make this argument.
But nope, I'm sorry but unfortunately additional tasks don't count in forwarding canon time.
In EP1 you can skip the entire courtyard scene, rush to the dorms, only do the required interactions there, grab the flash and run to the parking lot.
You can also talk to everyone in the courtyard, explore every possible dialogue, arrive in dorms, carefully inspect Max's room, lie on the bed for an hour, play the guitar for the next hour, then go out, deal with Juliet's drama, explore Victoria's room, talk with Dana, explore Dana's room, go to the parking lot, explore the parking lot, look at every car, stand another hour 2 meters from Warren hearing him desperately calling out to you, and only finally talk to him 3 hours later.
And guess what? In both cases the time of all events stays the same.
>So far everything points to my argument being true.
Literally nothing does. It's not even on the fucking map. It's not stated anywhere in game. There was plenty of time to go there even going by the text messages even if you assume it's 0.5h from the town. All you have is your ridiculous assumption that it's there because??? Because. Cool story bro. At best you can say the location is unconfirmed but that you believe it's within the town and the devs just forgot to establish that.
>>122523578
Yeah, because it's not like the finale had anything else that went against common sense and logic.

I spent my entire childhood being obsessed with tornadoes. With the level of damage shown in the bae ending, it's absolutely ridiculous to think there was a high mortality rate.

Instead you waste your time dreaming up scenarios where everyone magically died.

Yeah like trying to save her good friend.
I guess my evidence shows I'm right.
>>122524035
Yeah, I don't know if people actually make a case for "literally every single Arcadia Bay citizen died", I was primarily highlighting the certaind and highly likely deaths that Max does know about (and others she at least doesn't even bother to find out about beforehand or afterwards).
>>122524183
I wouldn't say everyone else, and you don't have to assume that for the symbolical meaning of the decision either. For that the willingness to have everyone die instead of Chloe is what counts. And I mean, there's a whole world between everyone and nobody, but even IF everyone had survived, Max would still have made a choice that had potentially everyone dying, it just so happened that they then wouldn't have.
Normally I don't go into arguing endings either, because I agree that the whole setup conceptionally and the execution have been very disappointing. My main gripe is that neither ending is really "bittersweet", both seem just bitter and hopeless to me.
>>122524624
Yes, the regret of failing to save her good friend.

The friend she got over in a matter of hours, after which she spent the night having fun in the pool?

>I was waiting for you to make this argument.
And yet, you didn't feel the need to address it when it was relevant. Interesting debating style.
>But nope, I'm sorry but unfortunately additional tasks don't count in forwarding canon time.
So your hard-hitting rebuttal is to stick your fingers in your ears and repeat "no no no I'm not listening no no no none of this huge scene matters no no no".
Great.
Sorry, the scene obviously counts. Feel free to do some finagling of the timeline to make it count as little as possible, but you can't ignore it completely. I was being fairly generous when I timed it at ~30 mins previously.
That you need to act so dishonestly to try to salvage your point just strengthens mine. The first rule for getting yourself out a hole, my friend, is to stop digging. :)
>>122521674
It came into existence because of Max's time fuckery, but never did the game establish the tornado had special, magical destructive powers. If that was the case, they absolutely NEEDED to show that destruction in the bae ending, which they didn't.
You really sound like you are a bit stupid or something.
>>122524812
I don't get why so many people make a huge deal about the swimming pool.
What else was she supposed to do? Sulk in her room for some predesignated mourning period?
In both outcomes, where Kate lives or dies, Max can do nothing more to help her.
Sometimes after seeing something fucked up the only thing you can do is something to take your mind off it.
Plus, she used that time with Chloe in the school to try to find answers regarding Kate and Rachel. So she didn't just completely forget about her.
Did this game have a greater meaning?
Was there supposed to be some moral of the story?
>>122524898
>So your hard-hitting rebuttal is to stick your fingers in your ears and repeat "no no no I'm not listening no no no none of this huge scene matters no no no".
No, my rebuttal is that you tried using an optional scene/conversations to say the timeline between events changes based on that. And it doesn't. Did you even try reading my post? It doesn't matter what you do and for how long. In this case this is an optional hub you can skip entirely. It's not mandatory and has no effect on the in game time.
>The first rule for getting yourself out a hole, my friend, is to stop digging. :)
Great so are you finally ready to admit you are full of shit and have no facts to suport your claim except for "b-but muh optional conversations surely prolong the timeline!"? :)

Like I said, you can feel free to finagling the timeline so the scene counts as little as possible. But it's patently dishonest to ignore it entirely.
Hell, even if I were to grant you that we should ignore all optional content without assuming they contribute some reasonable amount of time to the story (because fuck exploration in a game based on exploration, amirite?), your argument doesn't even make sense for that one scene. Because once Max and Chloe finish talking to Jefferson, Chloe says she's going to go and talk to Justin to try to get some dirt from him. It literally makes zero sense for Max to then run directly for the dormitory door to progress the scene. Canonically, Max and Chloe spend some time bumming about in the courtyard with these other people. That the conversations and such are optional doesn't mean you can just dishonestly ignore the scene.
Owned. :)

I found it really cute...I like anything about them as kids; really wish that could have been explored more. I bet they already liked each other back then, but weren't aware of/couldn't identify what it was exactly. Also adds to my heartbreak when I think about how much Chloe has changed from then.
Did this game make anyone else feel nostalgia for experiences they never had?
>>122525063
>So she didn't just completely forget about her.
No but she hardly treated Kate's death any differently from Kate's potential survival. Max has known Kate for a few weeks at the most. They're really not that close.
>>122525721
fuck no
Why did Chloe get so butthurt about Max not calling, when she never called either?
>>122526285
They aren't even entirely optional. You have to talk to people (Ms. Grant?) in order to learn that Nathan left campus before you can progress the scene.
C-can't you guys settle it by having someone tweet dontnod again? Asking where the hospital is supposed to be located seems innocent enough.
>>122526496
Absolutely. I agree that they probably knew what they liked each other and didn't realize it until it they were apart. And Chloe went through a lot of crap, but underneath the ink and dye her younger self makes appearances.
How she speaks to Max about the last week being the happiest she's been, makes me think she's kept up her tough-girl facade for those five years and it's finally starting to crumble. She will obviously never be as happy and care-free as she once was, but she will find a balance.

Definitely. Like you said, that younger Chloe is still very much there. To me, she always seemed like that 13 year old girl who just aged on the outside. Yeah, she did "adult" things like smoking/drugs/sex/getting tickets/etc, but those were just things to hide the fact that she's still stuck on that day when her dad died and she felt like she was left behind by the people she most cared about. I think that's one of the ways in which the game excelled in characterizing through the environment: the drawings she made with Max, the phone she decorated with Max, the box with photos of her with Max and William that's just lying there and without a cover -- they all really showed that point home rather than just saying it through dialogue.
