the guns are calculated separately and added as a group, the average resultant is displayed as a "grazing shot" "smashing" or what ever

Well in terms of the way T2 and T1 cruisers worked used to be on par with sort of how T1 frigs and T2 frigs worked
T1 frig that filled a role, the T2 variant would fill a more exclusive role and be exceptionally potent at it.
T2 cruisers used to do the same thing long before the T2 HAC upbringing. T2 HAC's used to be exceptionally focused at a particular role but now they've gotten pretty potent besides

I don't see why that would make any difference. t3ds need a lot of changes to make them much weaker. in most fights in a brawling t3d you'll start off in prop mode, then you'll get into defence mode until the end. there isn't a load of complicated switching going on.

I tend to wander around for exploration, skimming the edge of the NPC sovereign cluster, but Ammatar and Amarr lowsec seems strangely low-population and high value real estate. The Sansha rats are more high value salvage, relic sites there drop intact armor plates and other goodies. You can also make forays into nullsec pretty easily from a base in Derelik.
There are also hisec islands on the other side of Amarr space where not many people live, due to their isolation, like Zaveral/Keba or the larger cluster in north Aridia. You can jump easily from there into Fountain which is all nullsec. However there might be more competition from other explorers in this area.

They are decent but I ended up dying one time and another time I got low and had to get out. Is there something better I can run with guns and drones? I don't know what ship that is, but in lowsec and nullsec you will not be able to fight anything in it. You might be able to tank sites by going fast enough, but with just drones you'll never be able to DPS down battleships, which are common in those sites. Just focus on Relic and Data sites, which do not have rats and give good loot.
If you're training towards a ship, long term, play around with exploration a bit first. Again, I don't know what that ship is (probably could figure it out from slot layout but I'm too lazy), but there are only two advanced kinds of ships with exploration bonuses. Covert Ops frigates, which require lvl V in the racial frigate skill, and the Sisters of Eden ships, which are the Astero, Stratios, and Nestor. They require Amarr and Caldari skills for their ship class, but not to lvl V. However, they are massively expensive for a new player, much more expensive than the other faction hulls. You'll never be able to do 100 percent of the combat sites you find in the same ship you scanned them down in, but if you're looking for an exploration ship to fly with guns and drones, these are what you eventually want. Check them out.
Short term, you should be focusing on your scanning skills. Check out what's there under the market tab (make sure to click the gear next to the search button and uncheck the "show only available" box so you can see them all), then pick up as many of them as you can afford/train and get started. Start by getting Astrometrics to IV, then get the rest to IV, then Hacking and Archaeology to V so you can use the t2 modules. It's worth it for how much faster you'll scan and do sites. It's worth mentioning that if you go down this skill path you'd be forfeiting a lot of SP into the "core" skills that do stuff like make your ship more tanky, make any type of gun shoot better, and so on. This is only ok if you're really happy with exploration, because you don't need these skills for doing it.

I see, didn't realize you were stacked. Anyway, the Asteros is not much better combat-wise than what you're flying. You still wouldn't be able to use it to fight anything in low/nullsec. Stick to Relic and Data sites until you're at least able to fly a t2 fit Stratios.
However, if you are interested in the Astero as an accessible Cov-Ops hull (which you should be, being able to warp while cloaked will save your life in low/nullsec), I'd recommend grabbing one, once you can fit the cloak and fly the ship. Doing low/nullsec Relic/Data sites will make you the worth of the ship in a day. You might not mind losing an Imicus to an instalocking gatecamper, but losing the shiny loot in your cargohold will make you sad. With an Astero, the only thing you'll ever die to in lowsec is forgetting to d-scan while doing a site. Gotta keep an eye out for enemy probes in dangerous space. The Astero is expensive, yes, but it's probably the best ship for a low-skill character to experience the kind of exploration you do with a Cov Ops ship. Once you have the skills to fly it, you could keep training Gallente Frigate until you can fly a Helios. You could even stick to hisec for a while, doing combat sites there, which you'd definitely be able to handle with five drones and an Astero's armor bonuses. That would give you experience with the kind of stuff you'd eventually want to do in lowsec and null. Whether you want to go straight for the big loot in dangerous space or start trying out every aspect in hisec is up to you, but I think the Asteros is a worthwhile choice either way.

Also, this is not cap stable for even my character, since I figured with your lack of capacitor skills the best you could hope for is pulsing the repper. If you're not going to do combat sites at all, take out the drone damage amplifiers for a nanofiber internal structure and overdrive injector.

Your suggestion would add more ehp to either shields or armor, which would make your tank stronger than if you had a smaller health pool of armor/shield.
If you're shield tanked, your armor pool means fuck all as enemies will burn through it in seconds, and vice versa. Your idea would just give ships a bigger tank.

the fits posted have tank, you should never drop on stuff you cannot stomp, your hunter alt should also do half the work to make sure you can kill it and get out fast..

for you, in low/null, leave the rangefinding array on and just do all the sites completely, hack all cans relic and data, because it'll be worth it most of the time. in dangerous space it's more important to scan quickly because there is less competition of explorers and more people trying to kill you. once you're inside a site, the only way you're in danger is if someone else with probes scans you down, and if you're keeping an eye on dscan you should be able to warp away before that happens.

There are other arrays than rangefinders.
Also, looks like you have your probes right on top of each other, try shift and alt drag combos to arrange them so they have overlap. It's the overlap that gives you that extra precision as to where the target is, not just stacking probes and mods in a pile.
