How is unarmed compared to melee in this game? I'm 20 hours into the game but melee weapons have a lot of good mods that I don't see in unarmed weapons. Actually I have only seen knuckles so far and that doesn't look as good as a 60 damage baseball bat that ignores 30% of damage resist.

I've got the Power Fist that deals more damage as you attack a single target.
It has two mods. One that adds damage and armor penetration, the other adds energy damage.
I've also found a regular Deathclaw Gauntlet.
The only mod available adds an additional claw for more damage.
All in all it's pretty lackluster when it comes to modding unarmed weapons.

I don't really understand your point or where this "true RPG" comes from.
Bioware and other similar RPGs are story-driven, and the Fallout games (prior to this one) are generally more character-driven and focus on the individual player experience over this style of game design and storytelling.
Fallout 4 is Bethesda making quite a substantial focus to story over character/adventure. This itself is fine, whatever, they can do what they like with the series - but I don't believe I've ever played a Bethesda game and seen evidence that they're good writers and capable of crafting emotional and deep stories. So many things in Fallout 4 feel hamfisted and downright silly that they just simply stand out, and this wouldn't be an issue if they had made the game less story-driven and return once again to a focus on character roleplaying and adventure.
The voiced protagonist is my main problem with the game, because so many things stem from it:
>dumbed down and shallow dialogue wheel, resulting in a less involving system of dialogue more similar to cutscenes
>drawing the player out of their character immersion and limiting their roleplaying
>reinforcing the game's story over your own
I have many objections to Bethesda and things in their games, but I'm not a shitter and won't just sit here and say they're bad developers and they can't make good things. They've struck a decent balance regarding this in most of their previous games, but this one really feels like them experimenting and trying out an emphasis on their story and the player being along for the ride as opposed to focusing on the player's own character and individual adventure - and as a result I think it's deeply flawed.

There are at least two trains that have Power Armor, one near the first settlement the Minuteman sends you to help, down in the ravine (Beware the random encounter down there, if it's three radscorpions and you're low-level you are fucked) you need at least hacking 1 to open the cage there's another ...I think near that diner with the owner's son addicted to Jet, same Hacking level required.
Also I hate the random pool of radiation at the Drive-In. Because the Drive in is an awesome base.

I cleared out two raider bases an hoarded all their armor in Sanctuary but I still can't use the fucking armor workbench. I personally think the story, and in particular the voiced PC, was a last min decision and it shows. Lip sync issues and some of the dialogue, to me at least, are disjointed as if they were'nt designed for the player to have a response. I also get some weird camera angles during a conversation.

sort of, there's no exclusive unique items to survival. there's only unique item modifiers. these won't matter on normal though because you're not fighting against things with ridiculous resistances and damage.

I have a 5 charge from the Castle (Just sitting in the armory), and it is a devastating sniper shot. I put a recon scope on it, and I kill even legendaries in one hit. Thanks to the hilarious abundance of Fusion Cells the game throws at you, I have practically infinite shots. The reload speed sucks, but whatever.

Yeah but they made it so that the power suit isn't something you can wear right out the gate. It eats power worse than your dad's 20 year old van, which means it's not doing anything but slowing you down when your first fusion core runs out of power and then you either have to scrounge around hoping you find another core or pay out the nose for them at Arturo's place. You also need to be able to repair it when the armor decays but steel is like my most plentiful resource so that's not too big a deal. It's not feasible to wear it all the time until like midgame.

Gauss Cannon doesn't have shit on the Musket though. The musket's firing sound is loud and proud as fuck, where the gauss cannon was just a basic sniper rifle with energy. The downside is one shot per reload session, but the damage more than makes up for it.
Also, the damage shown on the weapon's value is misleading. For each charge, it adds that much damage per shot. So, if you have 50 damage baseline, a 5 charge does 250 damage. It's ridiculously strong.

Institute weapons are really weak. They look great, but they don't compare at all to laser. Just upgrade a laser pistol/rifle and you're set for the whole game. You could also just upgrade the musket you get in the start of the game, it's hilariously strong when modded.

What the fuck is the deal with this game's framerate drops? Can someone actually help me out?
I've got a Sapphire R9 290x 4GB GPU
8GB of RAM
Intel i5-4690x 3.5GHz Quad Core
Fallout detects Ultra settings on default. I've turned off godrays, turned view distance way down, turned off motion blur, turned AA down. I still get absolutely TERRIBLE framerate drops whenever I go near the area outside of Diamond City. Is there something specific I can turn down/off that will help framerates in this area?
And my game settings NEVER save. Unsure why, but it's annoying as fuck to have to change sensitivity and game difficulty every time I open the damn game.

After playing nearly all of the game in French, I have to say Bethesda's choice for English voice actors suck. I've watched streams and videos of regular playthroughs, and none of the characters express any real emotion, do half assed fake voice acting, just normally just sound bored.
Seems most of the international voice actors put effort into their lines probably because work isn't as common. I know this is a common problem in Bethesda games, but you'd hope they would have put a bit more effort into a game that focuses on a voices protagonist.

There's been games with great voice acting, and even New Vegas had better voice acting compared to 3. The Witcher did it pretty well.

It's really fun, and worth playing.Dialogue is shit, dialogue wheel is even shittier, there's no roleplay because of voiced protagonist because devs can't into RPGs. I'm fucking serious Mass Effect did the wheel so infinitely much better, and I want you to think about that statement.

Having followed nothing whatsoever about this game pre-release, I can say it's a pretty decent game. Maybe wait until it's on sale, but I've enjoyed at least the first 7 hours. It's much better than Fallout 3 if nothing else. The atmosphere is probably the strongest of all the recent Fallout games as well.
It's definitely flawed and still buggy, but as long as you weren't stupidly hyping a Bethesda game to be Game of the Century like Reddit was, you'll probably enjoy it.
