It depends how much you can stick with rhythm games. For me I'd say that's definitely worth it, 80+ songs, lots of customisation, five difficulty tracks per song, it's quite a bit of content. If you're the type to play each song once with a basic pass and never touch it again then maybe not, but it's awesome if you want to aim for the higher difficulties and try and FC songs.

Yes. It has a full story mode, including some interesting boss battles with bomb notes you need to avoid and enemy obstructions that cover part of the screen. You encounter and recruit different Namco characters, and outfit them with different equipment pieces that change their stats. Things like attack, defense, speed, elemental differences, that sort of thing. It isn't massively deep but the main story mode will take 8-10 hours to beat, plus actually playing all the songs you unlock for beating it. It has some interesting visuals but you can buttonmash through the text if you don't understand without losing the context.

It's just two buttons but there's combinations and many different note types (balloons, drumrolls, confetti balls that burst open if you hit them enough), that sort of thing. It may only be two buttons but it gets fucking difficult. It's basically a rhythm game with all the fat trimmed, it's pure rhythm and gameplay.

There's only HP/ATT/DEF/SPEED and an elemental difference. There's no english but it's all really obviously written out, big red/blue arrows showing what's changing and they all have little graphics showing you what's what. I don't understand a word of written Japanese but I've done fine without needing to look things up. Only thing you'd ever need to look up would be the trophy list since it's untranslated. And to answer your previous question yes, you can use that control method.

Taiko's comfortable unless you go for oni difficulty. Just play normal and have fun. Unless you're aiming for the platinum (in which case you need to pass 25 songs on hardest difficulty, exploitable to only be 13) you don't lose anything. The main story mode can be difficulty scaled too. Just get it and have fun anon, it's way less overwhelming than Miku can be with notes in every direction. Its very direct focus on the notes and gameplay make it a little more simple to get into.

The great thing about it is that it has 80+ songs, so even if you only ever play normal difficulty you still have a lot of content to get through, especially if you go for full combos. Just playing each song on normal once through and beating the story mode would take you about 15 hours, which is fine for a full-priced title IMO. You could easily quadruple that time taking in the other difficulties and repeated playing of songs to get competitive scores.

I'm the same. I have a huge list of played games on my account (I bought my Vita in June 2014, and both PS3/PS4 this year so most are new buys) and most games only have 5-10 percent. I have no platinums and some with 60-70%, but my backlog's getting out of control so once I've played something I usually move on.

It looks overwhelming, but the bottom two charts are really easy. The Taiko plat has something like a 30% completion rate. If you use the Shiuchi option, you barely even need to do the middle.
