After playing the game more (or more specifically the child paralogues) I'm almost completely convinced the AI behaves differently between Nohr and Hoshido.
In Nohr, if an enemy does 0 damage to a target, has 0% chance to hit against a target, or they're OHKO'd by a target, they generally choose not to attack and will go running for someone else instead. In Hoshido they're more than happy to charge to their deaths mindlessly.
Like the way everything suicides on Marx in Hoshido compared to them wanting to avoid him because he'll stomp their faces in in Nohr is kind of interesting.
So in Nohr I'm sure you fight a decent mix of enemy types, like a decent mix of Nohr classes and Hoshido ones with perhaps a slight increase in Hoshido ones, but what about in Hoshido? I know you'd fight plenty of Nohr units but how many Hoshido units do you fight in that path?

1. Don't rush too much. Worry about turncounts on replays. That being said, therems reinforcements so turtling won't help.
2. Don't be afraid to use the save points to heal. I personally never use the full squad heals but the extra steam/HP can help when you are just figuring out the map.
3. Once unlocked, special skills can be used once every stage(not mission. For example, you can use a special three times in mission 1, as it has 3 levels to it). Shit's helpful.
4. Overwatch is good if you know a nesrby enemy will approach next turn.
5. There's a reason you can break the environment. Besides the obvious explosive barrels, there's crates to break that can make shortcuts.

Marth heals nearby allies for a good amount of HP.
Ike does a lot of damage to nearby enemies (it won't hit enemies behind him, though)
Both are pretty solid special moves. As for special skills, Marth negates enemy overwatch attacks(really good) and Ike can punt his allies(or enemies) forwards(also good). Using both together can allow Marth to quickly pass through enemy fire unscathed, and if this is near the end of the map Marth can just reach the goal without dealing with the nearby enemies(if the map's clear condition is reach goal).
