TENDER ARMS DEMO REVIEW:

+Love the style, minimalist artwork, and color choice.
+Interface/movement/sfx are very nice and juiced.
+LoS doesn't look like shit, unlike most roguelikes.

-Game crashed almost every time I tried to use a scroll on a door. I only got past the first sealed door once. (Error message: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.)
-Holding the move key against a wall causes you to move trough it.

Its probably good you didn't play the demo to see the rest of the sprites I ripped from. They're placeholder, its a demo. I don't have the time to make original assets yet having straight collision rectangles don't make the cut.

You at least need to have a single unity scene with a single gameobject and monobehaviour attached to it, after that you can do absolutely everything via IDE.

That being said, Unity's greatest strengths are in the run-time debugging that you get from being able to mess with all the different components as well as the flexible asset creation.

Most of my actual game logic work is done in IDE, going into Unity to run and check that things work properly. Trying to make scenes and things by making prefabs with different monobehaviours and junk like that gets messy fast, in my experience.

+The physics are practically flawless, I tried my best to get stuck in a wall or jump into odd collision angles and shit, and it always worked fine.
+I've been dying to play this game since it was only gifs of not-ultraman getting his skeleton ripped off his body, so thank you for this demo

That's really weird, and I have no idea why that would happen. There's nothing that intensive happening. The only thing I know of that causes slowdown is creating particles and projectiles because I haven't implemented object pools for those yet.

The first game's art was bland as fuck, yet it's got 215000 sales.

The shilling for this game is far beyond the previous one's, and while the art isn't as "hot" as the previous game, it's got a strange sort of cuteness that loads of fags will gobble up.

I need to write some sort of validation function for my random road tile generator. It doesn't need to be too fancy, at the lowest level it'd need a way to parse sequences like:
road - end_of_road - n*empty_lot - start_of_road - road

I don't want to hardcode this, I'd like it to parse text templates for rules. Anyone have any tips for such stuff?

Ok, dev.
Here it goes.
First of all, you game is looking really nice, I like the setting and the visuals, polish it and you might get some good stuff.
Now, let's talk about what's bad.
First, the camera. It's just bad, it changes way too quickly when you move from one side to another.
Second, climbing speed is way too slow even. Make it just a little bit faster and it would be fine.
Third, I'm sure you will change the attacks, but right now they are really shitty.
The sword is useless in comparison to the ice shots and even then, the shots are just a question of "keep pressing the button until it hits something".
Fourth, I couldn't get through the part in the tower you need to pass with the rope, the rope just didn't reached there, so I needed to go all the way back to your crab form to get the boots, I say you should check this matter.
As a last note, It's nice for the boss to have multiple attack patterns, I liked that, but I still couldn't beat it because of these fucking weapons. Maybe I am just bad at metroidvanias.
Keep devving, this could turn out a good game. I hope you find the objective you are looking for.

Random events can happen now.
You can also name units, the AI is more developed, and multiple AI teams will interact with each other.
Health, health bars, and combat is in the game.
Going to do some 3D modelling for the buildings now I guess, since I have to add in all the basic buildings to finish the AI & add in the tech tree's functionality.

That dev is a douche, but he didn't abandon the game. He just keeps expanding the scope of a game for which development was always slow to begin with, even before the Kickstarter campaign (they've been working on it for like 10 years now).
