How does /smtg/ generally feel about SMT4's system? At first I thought it was cool that they got rid of defensive stats/level as a damage factor, but now I'm not so sure.
I'm in my first NG+ run and am actually finding it harder than my original runI did New Lifein spite of the fact that I have been using massively overleveled demons from the Compendium, simply because I'm not fusing as much, finding as much stuff, experimenting as much, and finding that I'm missing some of the things that made my original strategies successful.
Literally, missing something like 'Doping' is the difference between a breeze and getting wrecked may times, even with level 70+ demons at my disposal ludicrously early.
Also since I'm underleveled compared to my original run, I'm seeing the bosses often get to go first, which is the difference between getting wrecked and having no issue whatsoever in many cases.
It's as though the system has been reduced to a sort of puzzle, where the one which goes first has a massive advantage regardless of any other factor. I understand there's a lot of 'git gud' in here, but I'm not complaining so much as looking at it from a purely systemic perspective and asking 'is this positive?'
