I can't believe how the interest for this game went downhill from the E3 to now. They are really ruining characters with these balance changes. If their plan post-release is to give them back their tools from the beta days that were already there in the first place and removed FOR NO FUCKING REASON then it makes the growth of the game totally unexciting.
I don't know who's to blame for these really bad, unnecessary design changes but I think Combofiend has more to do with them than Dimps this time around. And it's fucking pathetic.

If people are going to buy Street Fighter, they'll buy Street Fighter, and the casuals, by definition of their gameplaying nature, won't bother playing it for longer than a week anyway, so there is no point to catering to them one way or the other. I feel like the people in charge of marketing the game don't understand this, and there's no way to get it through their thick skulls. However, I feel it's better to just develop it for the target demograph and the casuals can play and put it down as they usually would any other game because the casual crowd is indifferent to whether or not they can get into a niche genre because casualizing it won't change how long the game holds their interest in playing it, as it's statistically shown that they only play pick-up-and-play type games like Angry Birds that only need a few minutes of your attention per "stage" or "level" or whatever.
They've already bought it and they can play games with other casuals who don't know how to do the fun tricks to make them feel bad, or they can be interested enough to learn and step out of their casual stage.
At this point, even KOFXIV looks greater than it, and KOFXIV looks god awful. At least aesthetically speaking.

For me, Aegis just needs to have one particular aspect retained, since I'm damn sure it won't set up unblockables: I want it to stop moving completely after a set distance, something Rashid's whirlwind does not do.
Though difficult, I'm assuming there will likely be a way to set up the magic distance for aegis, off of a hit tackle or some such, where it is thrown at a cornered opponent and stops moving just in front of them so it does not touch them, but gives them no room to move. Aside from the usual high/low aegis pressure, I hope that oppressive wall which is just barely not touching you is also a use for it.

Unless Capcom decides to just make an exception for Urien, the dream is dead. People can argue Fox only etc, but it's very exciting to Smashfags apparently. The thing is, fighting games are a niche genre and simplifying them to any level won't hold a casual player's interest for long, no matter what. It's not the kind of game Angry Birds is, which I just referred to as a pick up and play kind of game. You just play it for a couple minutes on your phone, complete what you mean to do quickly and get some kind of quick result feedback, and you can do it all over again in the matter of a few minutes on your phone. This is the age of phone games, and the only people really interested in a fighting game certainly isn't the casual audience. You can make all the kind of simplifications you want, but it's not going to keep the casual player playing it.

God do the people in there suck. I don't care that much, but I popped in there recently a few times and I'm rusty as shit for Xrd however I kicked the regulars asses so easily. I think I only fought two decent people in there. One guy who was actually good and I kept losing to, but was close a lot of times. Normally I wouldn't complain about people ever sucking, but considering how much they play. I have a hard time understanding why they're still so poor at the game.

Angry Birds doesn't dominate the console market and mobile is an entirely different breed of gaming. We don't play SF for 5 minutes at a time waiting at the doctor's office.
People want something with more activity going on with console games and presentation is usually key. People can go 3-25 in Cod and continue playing because they at least got a sick killstreak. Casuals play MKX purely to mash through single player mode and watch fatalities.
Casuals won't care about simple or complicated as long as they can face roll and see cool shit happen win or lose. All Capcom has to do is make the single player easy and allow people to press a lot of buttons.

Skullgirls. Combines legit fun gameplay, competitiveness, high skill-ceiling, and interesting lore. People will complain about combos being too long, but that was way back then and they haven't tried the updated version which has improved undizzy and IPS and rebalanced characters. Hands down, the best fighting game I've ever played, and I've played a good number of fighting games in my time. Also has the best fighting game tutorials that teach you how to play fighters, not just tell you to learn a combo.
