Welp, looks like i ain't getting farther than this.
Anyone else think that an Etrian Odyssey Maker type game would be neat? They already have the easy to use map making system, all that would need to be done is have drawing out a map actually PLACE walls, stairs, specific types of floor, etc.
You could say which enemies populate each floor and at what level, place FOEs and their behavior, place gathering spots and what they have a chance of giving, mark where events happen and write out descriptions and such.
I dunno, I think that would be pretty cool.

I could never get into the Untold games because one of the reasons I love EO is your party isn't special, they aren't the Chosen Ones or anything. They're a bunch of shitty dime-a-dozen nobody adventurers in a setting where there's no end to them. Untold makes you Dante or some elite warrior from some tribe or whatever.

The pits aren't arranged as neatly and as linearly as they are there, and there's frequent one/two block walls dotted about. There's maybe four or five foes which remain totally inert and block access to some areas, until you light the torches. Playing through EO4 again, trying out some party combos I didn't look at last time I played the game. Are dancers a bad combo with rune masters?
Aside from the first rune I throw down any later ones usually offset my dances and since my dancer is much faster than my RM if a dance gets overwritten I have to wait until the start of next turn to reset it.

For damage I've mostly been using Delayed and Cross Charge, buffing with bloody offense while waiting for it to tick down to zero. (for bosses.) Arthur and Frederica get the chance to continually attack while he's setting up for several turns.

Don't forget to use Spear Assist and Limitless to get more damage done between the charges, and that Bloody Offense also helps with getting more damage out of the others. Bloodlust also lets you get in extra attacks in each turn you have Bloody Offense active, so keep that in mind.

Someone needs to come up with some kind of online simulator that lets us pit our guilds against each other in mortal combat.

I just got one of the King Grimoires by chance from the bird boss and decided to try and get them all. So I've read that in order to raise the odds of getting the grimoire you need to match some stats on the guild card, but I wanted to clear some things up. The stats I have to match are the ones on my guild card and not the other ones I get by streetpass, right? So that means that if my steps taken stat and my total en earned stat both end in, let's say 33, the odds of getting the King Grimoire raise? Also, how much do the odds raise by each stat that I raise?

You only need to match the very last digit, and yes, only the digits of your guild card. As for how much is increased individually, I honestly don't know, but if you match all of them you should have around 30% of getting it after the battle.

Yeah,so long as you don't go overly gimmicky or try adding multiples of the same class without knowing what you're doing, you'll be fine. Just don't have more than three of a class specialized for a specific row, or some units won't be fighting that optimally.
You'll unlock one more class each after beating the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stratums, but the game gives you easy ways to level up new characters if you want to swap one in. Just focus on whatever's most fun for you.

It's probably just differences in calculations. Unarmed is usually treated in games as its own weapon that scales differently from other kinds of weapons, though only in EOIII is that actually designed to be used as an effective weapon thanks to Monks and Fist Mastery.

Dragonbane hits harder than Yggdrasil Sword because of str scaling. Unless you need HP and TP significantly more, Dragonbane is better that the Dragvandil by far. Not to mention most classes don't get to cap any of their stats in EOU2, at least not without the help of stat up foods and/or gear.

Use grimioire stones for the shield skills, you generally only need to equip one of those at a time for a given area. Also, Shield Smite and Rush are nice to have because of all the different ways you have to boost physical damage. Swordbreaker is a priority speed move and the physical damage reduction is almost always useful.

I should also add that that party is pretty much ideal for an element chaser setup, though I really don't like investing points into a bunch of different elements, it's probably easier to just focus on one and rest people if you wind up needing to use other elements for something later. Fantasias lower resists enough that something near immune to damage from an element will probably be able to take close to normal damage, so that's not something you'll need to do often.
Bloodlust and Imbues go great together, especially if you're going to use Bloody Offense on all your primary attackers.

You can't really "ensure" stone creation, just increase chances of getting certain things. If you need stones for a particular situation, you might be better off using guild cards or developing certain districts for the restaurant to increase chances of those classes showing up with what you need.
You can also carry over people to trade with from Untold 1's extra data(though it doesn't give you their names), and retired characters in U2 also show up from time to time to trade stones with(in this case, you DO see their names).

An issue I see with this set-up is I have pretty much no good way to inflict binds or status. Which is going to be an issue for conditionals... though I guess, again, a gap that can be covered by Grimoires.

Binds are simple enough, since Gunners can use bind shots. Axes have head smash, and Shields have Shield Smite. Stigmata is also an option, I suggest running Absorb on your Highlander or whoever you want to use that skill, or Displace on someone else to get rid of the binds and attempt an infliction on something else, Highlander has terrible luck so they'd need to run Blood Fortune or stack it past level 10 for a good chance of it working, same with attempting Head Pierce for head binds. On the other hand, with Limitless Highlanders are capable or running Ecstasy for decent damage, among other things.
Ailments are a bigger problem, and you'll definitely need grimoires for those. Hexer skills are probably the most likely to work, though a lot of enemy ailment skills have useful secondary effects.
Also keep in mind Triple Charge raises bind/ailment chances, so putting that on whoever you put in charge of doing those is a good idea.

I was gonna have my Prot/Landy be aswordfagthough so hrm. Still, this is a much better chance to actually use Grimoires instead of just lazying and just sticking matching class ones on everyone and ignoring the rest.

Level 70 would be way overkill, it's like leveling to level 30 just to kill a Ragelope. You'll do fine, don't worry; MIKE's fight was balanced around the time limit, so it won't be unforgiving.

No you're not.
Level 70 is the soft cap which can only be surpassed once you hit postgame. Until then, you can't level beyond it.
For perspective, you can easily march through floor 26 of the Claret Hollows at level 70 without much of a problem.
MIKE's fight is easy because of the time limit it has to work around, and the final boss of story mode will take fucking huge amounts of damage from every attack you deal to it. If you're fighting MIKE at level 70, it's only because you grinded to a ridiculous amount.

Firstly, if you ever find yourself needing to grind, it's because you're doing something very wrong with either your party composition or your battle strategy. Every Etrian Odyssey game is, on standard difficulty, balanced so you shouldn't be underlevelled
Secondly, the game quite literally has systems in place to making grinding mind-numbingly easy. Rare breed enemies, passive EXP boosters, the map auto-travel system, and the fact that you can auto-battle your way through fights just by holding down the A button.
Some people like to, when they're levelling in post game, like to keep something pressed on the A button, set a walk cycle in the labyrinth, and go to bed while their characters just rack up EXP on fights overnight.

I had a hard time finding my way around the 5th stratum, and ended up taking the long way around to places more than once. I think I was actually in my early to mid 60s when I got to Visil with the story party, but I needed to respec so I just went the whole way from there and went back down to 68 for the fight, which is obviously more than enough when your skills are in the right places.

The reason im at this level is because its hard to level up, so i didnt bother grind as it is hard to do so too, i did fight some FOEs along the way and they gave me alot o exp, but i fought 3 of them so it wasnt a big deal.
But yeah tomorrow gonna try to fight M.I.K.E, glad to see that lvl 56 is actually decent. Visil wasnt hard too, he couldnt do some attacks if i binded his arms, the only problem was the moves that could hit everyone, they dealt alot of damage, but everyone barely survived.

I usually have all 3 elemental arms and Regal Radiance. Regal Radiance is neat, since it the attack's "owner" is actually whoever's enchantment you're dispelling, so enchanting and releasing the enchantment of someone with high weapon attack power and/or a weapon focused Zodiac with Ether/Relevant Element Masteries at high levels can do a decent amount of damage. It also has a secondary non-elemental type so you can use it against things resistant to that element(i.e. the dragons). The problem is my party rarely ever had a reason to use Regal Radiance until 6th stratum outside of occasional crowd control, so I kept it at level 1 and now they're in they're 80s where leveling takes forever. The cost is kind of high but my party's setup doesn't give a crap about that.

Sovereign is probably better, since it has better skills for healing and boosting Force with, which your party is going to make heavy use of. You can put shield skills on most of your party, and if you're running a Dark Hunter, they'll probably want a shield to survive attacks on the frontline with anyhow. If you need more than healing to survive attacks with, Guard Order and Dauntless Order are both really useful, especially at levels 10+.

If your Fort is getting taken out by mooks like that in one turn, you're doing something wrong.

That's something I've never understood of the extra stratums on every single EO game... Why must the 6th stratum have teleporters and pits.
The fucking Yggdrasil core has teleporters and pits up the ass. Forbidden Woods has those annoying "spikey" floors, teleporters and most lately, the fog. The 3rd had teleporters as well.
The 4th one seems to break that chain at some degree, with corridors that connect to other places on the map instead of teleporting you.

I think you mean translation; and localization refers to adapting something from some culture for a different culture, which is not what you did. That single page of a comic set in a fantasy universe had nothing so deeply rooted in Japanese culture that you needed to replace it with a non-equivalent Western cultural reference. There's obviously no one-to-one correspondence between any two languages, and any attempt at translation is going to leave you with an imperfect representation of the original text, but that doesn't mean that you're "localizing" if you're doing anything that isn't robotically substituting individual English words for individual Japanese words.

Well, got 'em now, though this time it was more just wailing on Wilhelm specifically and then tanking Artelinde's suicide bomb with Beast, which I feel is a lot less impressive than killing both at the same time. The same scenario was still in danger of repeating itself, even though I used a preemptive Therica on Beast on the second-to-last turn since Artelinde seemed to delay her multihit bind/ailment move at that point, but either Thericas also heal any bind received on the same turn or Beast managed to shrug it off immediately after. Who fucking knows. Anyway, though it was frustrating losing a whole bunch of times due to unforeseeable bullshit I still really enjoyed how that fight was designed. Every boss up till now has been plenty interesting, I hope the rest of the game keeps up the quality.

What's interesting about that fight is there's so many different ways to go about it, and most of them work if you have the right team for it. One character is weak to Ice, the other to Fire. One character is immune to every ailment but poison, the other can have his attacks shut down by arm binds. You can attack both equally to be sure to take them out in 3 turns, or if you have the resources it might be possible to tank through both force breaks and let them kill themselves instead, or focus on one and let the other force break to death from full health.

Oh, well there's a few things to keep in mind when fighting the dragons there.
First, which should be obvious after their first turn, you need a way to negate their elemental attacks, which come out about once every 5 turns, as well as the first.
Second, all of them have an ailment or bind they can fuck you up with. In III, Storm Emperor can curse or instant kill you if you try using more than 10 buffs at once, for instance.
And third, in III you want to use the Amulet accessories(5 resist increments) to resist physical damage against them, and you can stack accessories to resist two physical types and/or their ailment/bind of choice. Later games only let you use one accessory at a time, but have other ways of increasing ailment/bind resists so that's not as horrifying as it sounds.

Because you simply can't have that as a feature. Think about it for a second. That sort of thing, a requirement of having the 3D on to access certain features, and asking you to set it to a certain level, means that any children under the recommended age can't play that game.
And ignoring that, you'd also be making the game, or certain key aspects of it, inacessable to anyone with a sight problen that prevents them from using the 3D. Hell, I'm just short sighted, but even with my glasses on, and at the perfect viewing range/angle for a N3DS, the 3D on most games still looks awful.
