the fact that the game is so reliant on your opening hand having a perfect curve for you to follow means that decks are encouraged to run all low cost cards to increase their chances of drawing things they can actually use. If the game had ways to search your deck and get specific cards you needed or reuse cards from some kind of graveyard you would see things slow down since the game wouldn't be so reliant on opening hands.
that will never happen though because hearthstone is designed to be a game that has little to no outside of turn interaction with your opponent
the mechanic of being able to do things on your opponents turn doesn't translate well onto a virtual environment since it slows the game pace down and the lowest common denominator people get bored because they have to pause for their opponent and actually think about what plays to make rather than shitting out their hand full of leper gnomes every turn.

1. Replacing your hand with legendaries is shit, that's why people run the cards that are going to be replaced instead of 10 legendaries (and the majority of legendaries are just plain bad)
2. To get the Golden Monkey you first have to play pic related, then draw the map (which costs 2 mana, shuffles the monkey in your deck and draws you a card), then draw the monkey and then play the monkey.
It's a fun card, but it is not going to see any competitive play Ever cause it's shit.

You don't play monkey the moment you draw it no matter how late. You play it when both decks are running out of steam and you are seeing who can actually get a big threat to stick. Suddenly the 5 cards left in your deck are probably all threats and that loot hoarder in your hand isn't a dud anymore.
For example mid range vs aggro or tempo you play a 3/5 on 4 and move on with your life probably never activate the other 2 parts
mid range vs control you've used your dr.boom and Tirion or Antonidas and got some value but control runs more removal than you have threats while they wait for their alex combo and you get to use the back half to turn your remaining deck in to actual threats instead of a 2 drop off the top.

also mage is known for playing lots of low cost spells so they generate double value off of their spell spam with it

I'm trying to think how to articulate this and I'm not doing a very good job at it. Basically, confidence in hearthstone ability is fine, and being all like "I'm gonna stomp all these noobs ez" is fine, and I wouldn't call that arrogance. Arrogance is more a belief in ones' own tremendous self worth. He basically acts superior all the time.
