Bunker builds / Supporty builds are the closest thing in pvp. You'll have to wait til raids come out to see if going full tank is even a thing. Gw2 pve is all about doing damage while being useful to your party. Hence why necro was considered a shit pve class for group play.

How to fix Warriors
1. Berzerk IAS bonus increased to 50%. This stacks with quickness.
2. Critical hits landed while berzerk grant the warrior one stack of stability lasting for 5 seconds, no internal cooldown.
3. Berzerkers attack faster each time they hit a target. Every hit by a Berzerker against a target causes the next hit to be 10% faster against that target. This stacks up to 25 times and ends when Berzerk ends.
4. Evading or blocking a Berzerker's attacks enrages him, removing all conditions on the Berzerker and giving him 15 seconds of quickness and fury.
5. Berzerkers stomp instantly with no cast time while under Berzerk.
6. A berzerker who lands a kill invigorates his teammates. Killing a target refreshes all of the berzerker's abilities, restores his health to full, and removes all conditions, as well as that of his allies anywhere on the map. Stomping an enemy also resurrects downed or dead players in addition.

In the same boat as you, and I don't give a shit about PvP. I'm settling on a defensive, sturdy kit-less Scrapper. Pretty sure stuff like that is considered shit, but it's whatever. Lifelong ele and experimental tempest here. I'm going to tell you right now that you can't have it both ways. Do one or the other.
Right now, I'm running map metas with my guild, so I'm doing support--water/earth/temp spec, loading on auras with perma-protection/vigor/regen with some cc for breakbar mechanics. I don't do damage and leave that to my guildies. I can spec into air/fire/temp and load perma-might/fury/swiftness on myself only if I feel like running solo damage, but that comes at the expense of group support.
If you wanna do support/dmg, you're probably better off with the old staff ele meta.

Currently running Soldiers armor (rune of earth, zerker trinkets and weapons (d/wh; accuracy and battle); Earth 3-3-1, Water 1-3-2, Temp 3-3-1. Running all shout utilities. Makes me really bunker-y. They fight with themselves over the same abilities (such as two different grandmaster traits supporting auras) instead of going to obvious route and having 3 support/aura traits, 3 overload traits, and 3 arcane-like traits. There's no need to, so your character wouldn't bother. Walking sticks are useful when navigating difficult terrain regardless of age but for flat terrain a walking stick just gets in the way if you didn't have to use one in the first place.
It'd be interesting to see your character dynamically change their animations for their staff as they traverse inclines or rocky terrain but fat chance on that ever happening.

Reapers used to give me a problem because of the plague signet. One headbutt burst and they break stun and give it all back. Keep an eye on it and when its pops you can burst them down untill they go into reaper. Leave, comeback and finish them.

It really depends on the profession and the build that you are running. Some are more restrictive than others.
If you are still leveling, don't worry about builds yet. Leveling is incredibly easy anyway. Just experiment around and learn to play your profession.
When you reach max level I would recommend getting the reaper elite spec as soon as possible. It is one of the best elite specs and provides amazing build options. Staff works great with reaper if you use it as your secondary supporting weapon.

It's a really big DPS loss over the torch, it doesn't have any blasts like the focus. it's suppose to be good if you really need reflects out the actual ass but you have so many other options I'e never found any use for it over WoR, SoA or even Sanctuary. Defense is mainly done by being invulnerable even for warrior. Necro sort of gets away with it because it has a straight up metric fuckton of hp which can still be burnt through rapidly anyway. No such thing as a defined hp pool anyway if people have so much instant, cooldown-based invuln which can perfectly negate 10 incoming damage or 1,000,000 depending on whatever flukes are going on at any given moment

Ele can become pretty survivable, but that only happens when they go full bunker. Their glass builds are the glassiest in the game along with thieves.

Thieves are innately overpowered. Direct damage, however, has slowly died with invuln power creep. Direct damage is sort of a thing again, but that's because anet just gave thief numbers to the new specs. Pvpers get butthurt when you say thief is unfair, though. Just because a thief's target gets carried by passives doesn't make baseline thief fundamentally unfair.

I was thinking about hwow e could give old weapons new skillsets, like through crafting.
Making Axes and Daggers "balanced" makes them throwable, giving classes that can use them a skill-swap
Rifles could get Bayonettes
Shields could get spikes

Ranger's light and quick warrior. Hammer, Mace and Shield are out of question. Pistols are not a hunter-esque weapon. Scepter? Well, we don't need another magic ranger espec yet, right? Focuse? See above, although focus is more neutral than scepter. MH dagger or OH sword? Feel underwhelming as ranger already has those weapons, just in different hands.
