I have no doubt that they're able to manipulate humans, as the emissions are evidently on the first phase of brainwashing.

But I'm skeptical that they're taking the raw psychic emissions from noosphere and using it to fry some stalkers brains in just the right way as to make them susceptible to brainwashing.

The Generators level isn't canon, the emissions really are just flooding in straight from the noosphere - I don't see how the CC could actually manipulate it then. But then again how is the CC 'bottling' up the emissions? Dunno, maybe the Generators are canon but were cut because GSC got lazy.

The zone being sentient could be considered in any way canon - which is possible because it's hinted repeatedly in dialogue in all games and inthe original story of CS it was a crucial plot point - then Lebedev was probably correct.

The Zone doesn't want all of these strange stalkers crawling around inside it - especially when you consider it might not being trying to physically protect itself, but because it's a purely psychic entity (after all it was born from a crack in the psychosphere) it's probably reacting, consciously or unconsciously, to rid itself of psychic pollutants.

After all, the zone was created by the CC trying to remove negative traits in humans. Why would The Zone enjoy having its guts infested with them?

Maybe The Zone is just a misunderstood babby trying to find its way in the world but keeps getting psychically shit on by humans.

It's clearly spelled out in the games if you paid attention: The C-Con you saw in SoC was desperate to reverse what it had set in motion, the zone was a byproduct of their wacky soviet science experiments with psychic fields and the Noosphere. Stalker tales and facts are rather different, anon.
The story of the zone and everything is pretty detailed if you read the rumors, stories and even the novels (in ukrainian and russian, of course), but everything you need is just in the base games.
The C-C tried to tamper with the Noosphere energy with no success, other than provoking the first great emission that spawned the zone and everything else.
After that, their goals were aimed to contain the Zone while still trying to manipulate the Noosphere itself for their goals.
It didn't work, shit was dope, they were just handling something they didn't fully understand.

When I say the zone and The Zone that's deliberate. The cc says the zone - as in the anomalies, artifacts, mutants and general weird shit - are just a side effect of what the did, caused a crack in the Noosphere. "The underlying problem is far greater than you can imagine." What they mean is the shit that's kicking around the zone, including the emissions, is not actually that bad considering what the CC did - or what they knew they did.

In each case it's much more likely that these devices were/are operating to achieve a practical goal (generators, controlling the psi emissions; scorcher, preventing access to the zone's centre; miracle machine is a special case, its just still alive). You can't just say the CC was using them for that without any evidence either in the game or from deduction. Yeah the generators are the 'source' of the emission (if they're actually still canon, which we don't fucken know) then that's literally all they're stated to be. It's what the CC uses to safely (almost) release noosphere energy. Like I said, there is nothing anywhere to suggest they're still trying to perform their original experiment again.

Degtyarev says that 'something' is talking to them. That's pretty much what started this.

Plus when you consider the original storyline for CS and the original storyline for what was to be STALKER 2 - dunno why you just disregarded that shit lol - that single line is basically prophetic. The zone is talking to the monolith. Why? Dunno. Might be something to do with how strelok knows how to destroy the zone - would make sense considering how keen the monolith (and mutants and zombies, both insensate yet somehow were particularly keen to kill the Mil only after strelok joined them and started to evacuate.
Then there's the mutant/zombie aggression hint at the end of the ecologist questline. Why would insensate mutants and zombies give a shit about preventing people from scan anomalies, how would they even know? There's no CC that could somehow manipulate them. And it's explicitly said that the aggression only occurs when a human tries to somehow understand an anomaly better, not just gather artifacts. Why does this happen? Well to help Ozersky out, it's because the zone is sentient and its trying to protect its secrets.

2) gsc actually unendorsed those novels but he's still writing sequels, I wouldn't consider anything the devs don't put their names on to be canon.

But he definitely didn't mention anything about retrying their original experiment. Timeline thus: CC researching all kinds of stuff including noosphere / noosphere related stuff by The Group; The Group built the generators to allow them to perform corrections to the noosphere; The Group fucked up, some became clear sky some joined up and became the CC (http://stalker.wikia.com/wiki/The_Group) - yes so that means Lebedev knew about the CC so it was pretty fucken unlikely he was wrong about the zone being alive. The CC and Clear Sky both dedicate them to containing/removing the zone. Does it involve researching the noosphere? Probs. Are they doing their experiment again? Doubtful.

Again, Lebedev was one of the people responsible for creating the zone, just saying 'he's fucken wrong bud' without any proof is pretty retarded.

ok well the way to be proper about it is

"the AO3 mod by E.Nigma that an anon from /sg/ linked me to that was compatible with CoC 1.2.24 (by the way he linked it I assume he was the one who updated it from a version of AO3 compatible with a previous version of CoC, I don't know who ported that one SORRY). But the mod was repoed on Yandex which was paywalled so I reuploaded it to moddb so I can get a bunch of 'plebs' to bugtest it for me. After posting that I reupped it on /sg/ - at which point there was an outpouring in sperg rage - I observed that there was a surge in anons who began playing it too, based upon the increase in posts regarding it. I gathered the bug and issue information that both parties provided and set about fixing these issues so that the port was more enjoyable. Unfortunately I did not know much about modding at this time, hence I repeatedly asked the anons on /sg/ for either a fix for the issues I did not have the expertise in solving (e.g. ones that I couldn't find the answers to on google). Each time the responses were unhelpful. Thankfully there was one based anon (actually credited him in the readme) offered help in solving the UI bug issue. I managed to solve the - admittedly easy issues - of the bm16 spawning, f2000 spawning, izh spawning and the hours it took me to copy paste every value back to vanilla AO. Although I made available the original values in case someone wanted to play with them. Everyone who helped or provided content for the port was credited in the readme.

Right now I'm about to release the second patch which will rebalance the economy, fix some values I missed changing, fix some more icons, add in about a dozen AO3 items which weren't being sold by traders and fixing the svarog detector not being able to detect non-CoP artifacts."

yeah I just find it easier to say my port most times.

I've also made addons that merge in the suit addon and some STCS weapons, should be nice.

Play by release order. Start by patched ShoC and with ZRP installed, then with patched CS and SRP installed, then to patched vanilla CoP. Some mods may require you to downgrade the game's version, read the damn OP for that.

I don't know what it is but I am having a weird problem when trying to install Absolute Nature and Structures for SoC.

It keeps on giving me some error saying that a certain source file doesn't exist. I've tried extracting the Absolute folders into my steam folder for SoC but that shit's not working.

The As Val is a good weapon for close combats, to fuck exo-suits and sometimes to bone bloodsuckers.
The G3 is more difficult to use in urban areas, but really good in outdoors.

I've player the original SoC since it was originally released and when mods came out I typically always used AMK with the Arsenal pack. I've been out of the loop for a while and wanna know if there are any mods similar to AMK including a new arsenal? I could just install AMK+Arsenal but I want to play something I haven't yet. Any suggestion? I've tried Autumn Aurora 2 but it doesn't seem to be my cup of tea.

Of course there's not a mod with a more 'seamless' mission system, no other mod has modified the actual xray engine to create an entirely new form of giving missions (although one could argue it's just ShoC's system recreated in CoP).

And as for the first one, I don't know how much you've played but the issues are still widespread. Sid's and the Mercs' assassination missions still become unable to be finished half the time - with issues ranging from no target existing, the target disappearing, the target dying prematurely or killing the target but not being able to turn the mission in; the technician's mission can't be finished sometimes if you take both at once, and sometimes you turn in the second box but still have the mission active; the machine yard mission that Sid gives you is completely functional, but about 80% of the time the bandits will get aggroed from defending the machine yard and just spread out in 360 degrees to kill everything - which usually results in them dying from mutants or military; the hostage rescue mission is an interesting one because it seems that the loner hostage is coded as a part of the bandit squad, which results in a merry gang of bandits and a single rookie loner exploring the zone and often all dying - if you do happen to reach them before they get ded then 'freeing' the hostage results in him disappearing and the mission auto-completing. The auto-failing missions which still occurs could be a straight bug or because you're accepting the mission when the conditions are already in a fail state, either way needs to be fixed.

You can't compare the engine changes done in Stalkersoup to those in CoC as they relate to quests with any degree of reasonableness.

The only thing that you need to know (since apparently you hate reading) is that CoC's quests are made to be the foundation for a system that modders should be able to use to populate the rest of CoC with more quests that are unique and potentially more complex than in CoP.

So it's pointless comparing them because we're evaluating entirely different pros and cons. You could compare the current quests in CoC with those in Stalkersoup, but not compare the systems either use.
