Other major east coast cities such as Baltimore have gone entirely unmentioned, or, in the case of Philly, it was a singular reference to it being "that dump" and "in ruins".

For one, all tension is removed from the game. Will this character betray me? Will this character die? These questions are on the mind of someone playing the game for the first time. All resources were drained to 0%, pile of bodies in the dark rooms everywhere, 10% "happiness" amongst the handful survivors. Everybody (even the revived ones) had ~45% radiation sickness and I only had a RadAway for every fourth, while their condition has continuously worsened because the lack of water.
Took an hour to get things back to normal but I made it without losing anyone. Had 2 Lunchboxes that I used up with hopes for extra resources - of course this time there were nothing like that in them. My luck as usual. Anyway, despite mobile games are not my cup of tea at all, I find Shelter surprisingly entertaining.

I never got Fawkes as a companion. Too evil rampaging across the wastes after my dad got me kicked out of my vault. The only reason I spared the wasteland was because of that pacifist super mutant who gave me his old clothes or whatever for nothing in return. I executed three dog outright for requesting my help before he would tell me where my father was and blew up megaton because the barkeep who demanded 300 caps to know where my father was. The only thing that got me to reel in my brutality was someone who actually showed my character kindness. Gave me all he had just because, I didn't ask, and he didn't ask me to do some asinine quest to get his shitty stuff, he just walked up to me and gave me shit.
As for my father I intended to shoot him in the head when I found him but by the time I found him I was out of ammo so I beat him into unconsciousness with a baseball bat.

Looking at the Agility for SPECIAL that was released today, there didn't seem to be much that was unexpected, but during the ends when they mention faster reloading as a perk you can see he's loading his revolver one bullet at a time.
Does this mean that Bethesda will be taking their cue from Obsidian and adding revolvers with a more old-fashioned method of reloading, with the potential to upgrade to a speed loader as one of the weapon mods for those sorts of guns?

I gotta agree with this, the only factions that actually make sense are House (since Securitrons can only do so much and by dealing with Benny you prove both your competence and apparent loyalty) and Independent Vegas. Caesar could make sense but only really if you have the chip to begin with. NCR and Legion shouldn't give a fuck unless you have a very high reputation. I am sure the NCR would care if a guy single handedly decapitated the leadership of the Fiends and secured camp Forlorn Hope and maybe say "hey wanna try and help us with the kings."

Maybe you can have for example a 10 round revolver mag, or a 10 round quick eject speed loader which is strictly superior. But, the speed loader is a level 3 mod, requiring perk investment.

Thanks for the recommendations, I knew Age of Decadence but not Darklands. There's another one though that came to my mind in the meantime, although it might be not the perfect example of traditional RPG: Mount & Blade. The whole game is about you being a nobody whose fortune is in his own hands.

Only the Pitt did slavery well. All base game neg karma felt like kick the puppy evil. Excluding all the times you get negative karma for killing horrible people, like the "vampires." Just as bad as losing karma for stealing from the Powder faggots in NV.
Even with all the cut content they still did a half decent job of portraying the Legion as (extremely) harsh stability, something the NCR and House can't provide. They're not so bad if you actually listen to Caesar and Vulpes.
