Depends on what gamemode you play. In PvP they exist purely for their mobility and ability to +1 a fight and rapidly move on once the target is down. They're not so hot 1v1 and aren't valued for 1v1ing - you're there to cap points, jump in on someone else's fight and be a dick ass thief. If that sounds appealing, by all means roll a thief/daredevil. If it doesn't, avoid them.
In PvE they're alright but nothing special. You don't really bring anything of use beyond spammable blast finishers and stealth. You've got good DPS but that's not exactly a unique trait of thief.

If you like being a heal bitch and struggling to get event rewards because you focused on healing and weren't tagging mobs or simply had too shit damage to actually tag mobs, probably.
