:) Edition
NOTE: The general consensus at /kspg/ is that you should torrent the game rather than purchasing it. The developer, Squad, is incompetent, extremely mismanaged, and is very resistant to all feedback or criticism. Furthermore, despite being poorly made, lacking a proper development team, years of unfixed bugs, and being in need of a serious physics and optimization overhaul, Squad has gone ahead and decided to add just a couple new features and jump straight to version 1.0 without proper balancing and bug fixing, just to boost sales. With their performance to date, it's clear that they do not deserve your shekels. If and when Squad begins developing KSP like the competent adults they like to think they are and stops acting abusively and manipulatively towards their community, we'll remove the above disclaimer. Until then, we as a community have decided that it stays.
Understand that we here at /kspg/ don't hate KSP; we've simply grown bitter over the way Squad has dragged such a promising title into the mud, and hope that our input might help to keep this sinking ship afloat a bit longer. However, we cannot in good conscience recommend buying this game to anyone.

You fucking moron, spend $250 and take a fucking basic intro to sociology course at your local Community College. The fact that retards like you exist is the reason people like Trump are so popular.
institutionalized racism, essentially the entire system is bent to disservice African American people, its very objectively clear. Use those sausage hands to type out some search results big guy.
The war on drugs, incredibley racist. Essentially a three decade spanning class war to make politicians look good even though it wrecks havoc on poor communities, that sell drugs because there community has always been shit because of white people and because their parents were fucked over by the same system, even though even fucking Nixon knew that the part of the drug war that was a success was the rehabilitation, not the brute force. Use your car fingers to peruse that on Google.
Or, the fact that there wasn't basic equality until about 30 years ago you absolute tit.
You could use those monkey paws and educate yourself in 5min about how retarted you are, but just like every other racist cunt you just flat out don't like anyone outside of your own ingroup and will deny objectivity so that you can justify your retard anger.
Any of those three things are basic points you can research, don't fuck with a sociology major kiddo.

Fury Road is one of the ugliest and most retarded films in recent History. And those garish, cartoonish, orange and blue colours produced in computers should be illegal. Really, why do people love to be submitted to this kind of empty horrifying visual and aural aggression? A fascistic anti-human audiovisual experiment. Simply put cirque du soleil for bros.

In a world of safe-spaces, he-for-she requirements, zero tolerance policies and advertorial content, it’s easy to feel like the spirit-of-the-thing has left the building. The 21st century is an intimidating place, where intelligence and critical thinking take a backseat to circlejerking and positivity for the sake of positivity.
It’s easy to feel like the world is snowballing into a dystopian nightmare. Marketers and brokers and managers with bottom lines seem to have replaced content creators and visionaries and artists and philosophers.
But with great flux comes great chaos, and what you are perceiving is that chaos in its raw, unaltered form. That does not mean the spirit-of-the-thing has departed, simply that it is obscured within a new paradigm.
It is with this belief that I joined the collective known as /kspg/, eager to point out a sneaking suspicion that had been tormenting me. The notion that Maxmaps had no real reason to be part of the KSP team, except, perhaps as a handler.
But what needed to be handled? Experience taught me that “expectations,” was the first answer and was connected to the second answer: that of “scope.”
KSP never had a problem with marketing. It, like most good products, markets itself. So to bring a marketer in and put him on the top of the hierarchy was an immediate red flag. Likewise, KSP never had a problem with “scope” — due mostly to the fact that it had an infinitely renewable source of people working for free to explore the totality of what can be done within the paradigm it created.
But, for the people who were receiving that money and shoveling it into bags, the approach shifted. It was no longer “how do we empower Felipe to make the game of his dreams?” and instead became “how can we bottle this fire so that we continue to control and steer its direction and profit from it?”
Just downloaded 1.0.5 for the third time. The first time was to get 1.0.5 itself, the second time was to get the "silent update", and the third time was because I downloaded old 1.0.5 on the second time. Quality work squad.

Stop posting your wall texts

What will /kspg/ complain about now that Max is leaving?
>>122042252
(2/3)
I don’t know how that shift came to be, it’s beyond even my paranoid speculation, however the immediate change of tone was perceptible. Harv was crying on a stream, resources disappeared like an American tourist in Northern Mexico, relays, life support, it all disappeared without a trace. Then the devs started leaving. The positive, animated, talented ones, at least. And the names we were introduced to came to have a negative pall about them — the way they acted as if the community didn’t exist.
Returning to the narrative: at first it was about hammering home the idea — that Maxmaps adds nothing — building a foundation to construct a sprawling estate upon. It was hard-fighting between downvote thresholds and reddit permabans for expressing an idea, but perseverance prevailed, and with that came learning. We learned what arguments swayed Billy, even if only for a moment. We learned how to hijack threads. We learned how to drum up resentment.
The barn was a major turning point, for a brief moment, the philosophy of reductionism was defeated as people expressed their desire to see future tiers and forward thinking, not a barnyard. But with that victory came loss. B9’s disappearance from these hallowed grounds is a testament to the hardship we not only face, but that we cause for other people. I feel genuine regret for that.
The “American Gothic” image I photoshopped hit the top of the subreddit, and it was at this point I realized that we could turn them without them ever realizing they could be turned.
I won’t detail every step taken or post made, but to say the least, it was a numbers game. New accounts, new posts, new ideas. Agreeing with people who make your stomach turn, giving the devs a little lick on the nuts so people think you’re on their side, it took a lot of painful lying to congeal a resistance, and it never fully came to be, but the seed was planted, and it took root with along with the previous hatred for him.
>>122042386
>The “American Gothic” image I photoshopped hit the top of the subreddit, and it was at this point I realized that we could turn them without them ever realizing they could be turned.
source?
>>122042386
(3/4, actually)
Meanwhile, our home came under attack as Squad prepared for 1.0, a conveniently timed crazed janitor began to wipe entire threads and delete on topic but negative posts. Meanwhile, funds were being spent on new design materials for trailers and maker videos. I think it’s fair to assume Max used every weapon in his arsenal, including “social media disruption” firms, which I’d be happy to link to if people are interested.
But we persevered and triumphed, but we were silenced for much of the leadup to 1.0 and after.
Only in August did we finally restore a sense of normalcy to /kspg/, and with that sense of normalcy came a desire to push for a final campaign. The puzzle pieces were in front of us. The deleted steam spy data, the announcements of a “definitive” version in November 2016, the mysterious lack of desire to bring on any more full time staffers. Badie. It was clear that Maxmaps was pulling some strings, trying to make some things happen without his being there.
And then he let it slip. “If I ever leave” he said on a squadcast. We harped on that, obsessed over it. Until one evening we got a warning that it all would change from a mysterious source. At the time I didn’t connect that to Max leaving, but it did raise the hair on the back of my neck.
And just when I was about ready to let it go, roughly around 3AM in the morning on a Friday after squadcast was cancelled, he suddenly appeared, eager to get one last gloating session in.
From there, the rest is history. The album made from Max’s gloating session collecting 100-200 views on its own, but then it was linked to Kasper and Max tweeted just minutes later that he was leaving. A few well placed posts and a frankly “shot-in-the-dark” rant about why he might be leaving allowed people to question the motives behind his sudden departure.
>>122042576
(4/4)
What’s the moral of the story? Trust your gut, believe in yourself and don’t back down when someone says “you can’t do that” — it is through the power of perseverance and creativity that you WILL forge your own path, achieve your own dreams, and create a better world for the children of tomorrow.
Now we as a collective must ask: where do we go from here? What do we do with this easily impressionable and easy to manipulate community? How do we give them something to aspire to? These are the hard questions, these are the questions Maxmaps never asked, and it’s why we’re here today. Now pass the champagne.

Most communities that love to choke down Bethesda's dick tend to hate them, and use the name as a way of accusing somebody of being the wrong audience for the game, of not understanding the game, implying they don't even play it, and suggesting that they're just an old Dad that "got their money's worth," and should move on.

Hullo!
>>122045074
There has certainly been times when I've found /kspg/ to be a bit overly critical about things
When reading the thread I do sometimes find myself thinking "Ok, that's not actually all that bad" or "That's actually somewhat reasonable" or "This seems like it might be going into tinfoil hat territory", and there are times when I'm playing KSP after an update and think "Hey, [feature] is actually alright" or "Hey, that's a nice detail right there", and no one seems to share my opinion until I actually decide to post about it, though most of the time when I'm playing I think "This is shit" or "Oh god, it's actually worse than everyone said it'd be"
However, to contrast with the forums/Reddit, they generally praise updates, though criticize some aspects of the game from time to time, however all criticism seems to be directed only at the game itself, and not at Squad
Whenever there's some bullshit in KSP they just think "Let's hope they fix this in [version]" or "I'm sure they're already working on a fix for this" or "I'm sure they're working on the update as quickly as they can" or "Aww, those engine limitations really suck", never once do they seem to think "What exactly is going on over there?" or "Is it really just an engine limitation?", they just seem to always assume the best of Squad at all times, no matter what, even if they can't seem to decide whether they've started QA for an update or not
This is why I think /kspg/ is better than the other communities, even if we might seem like a hatebox at times, we don't have the overly optimistic naivety that the other places have
>>122047095
Pretty much
I see a lot of people hating on Fallout 4 but very few hate on Bethesda
>>122046803
I've always felt it's not the right thing to share why you're leaving a job when you do, as it at best maintains neutrality and with every other outcome you just end up tarnishing one side, either yourself or the other.
Squad treated me in an amazing way. They were very kind, very generous, very encouraging. While I was there, we got to see our playerbase grow literally a hundredfold, and hell, even further with the sale a few days ago.
To know that I was part of that, to hear the words and even tears from my coworkers as I broke the news, to have an awesome going away party and all that, it feels absolutely amazing.
Realtalk, if I hang around here I will prolly drop the trip because the last thing I want is to disrupt their message in any way at all.
>>122047363
That worked out well for you last time. Oh and one hundred fold from 10 people is one thousand people. We know the reason you don't release the real number is because it will raise questions about where the money is going.

No, that was a different person. The store manager just seems to have a problem with backroom people. He mentioned that he gets 'a lot of pushback' from the backroom. Somehow I don't think firing me will lessen that

Sounds like you should be happy to leave t͏bh. Sanity is priceless.
>>122070835
I don't know what the exact dynamics are there, but at my company, my boss needs one thing from me, my deliverable. As long as I provide that deliverable, I can show up when I want, leave when I want, take as many sick days as I want and do what I want at work.
If he's not getting that deliverable, and instead is getting a pile of excuses and no impetus to fix the issue, he will cull in order to demonstrate his dissatisfaction.
I bet if you actually apply for a better job, you could get one, and then you could go to sears in your free time and hang out with your friends.

I am happy to leave, just annoyed that I had to. At least it isn't personal failings that caused me to be fired, which feels good. Still can't sleep though.

>>122072112
entitlement does exist, this general's issue with the concept is well-founded though, considering the fact that the marketers used it as a bludgeon to silence individuals who invested in their product and had questions or suggestions about where it could go next.
that's not entitlement. Or if it is, it is justified entitlement since all you're really buying when you pay for Early Access is the right to be entitled to something.

>>122078128
The thing is, by the time you get rich, you don't have nearly as much of your company riding on you performing at your absolute peak.
If you're a single guy who drives lorries for a living in his own one-man company, every depends on you.
If you're the boss of ten people, you can delegate tasks and make sure you only deal with the things you're best at handling, while your employees take care of the rest. If you're rich and have a multi-billion dollar company, you can delegate nearly all your tasks. You'd be ashamed if you realised how little many of the top-tier bosses in the world actually work. Many of them don't even bother attending their own meetings.

'sup fellas, yesterday my blogs were interrupted by max saying his last goodbye, time to go back to where we left.
after testing the new beta of the patchpack i'm using, i decided some of the bugs required too many workaraounds to be playable, so i reverted to the comfy, bug-free old version i have always used.
With a new map and a now playable game, i kept going for the alcohol route you guys voted on yesterday.
without boring you to death with the details, this is what my first train line looks like: it moves fruit from farms (top) to a brewery (bottom).
Now i need to hook up a bunch of other fruit plantation and grain farms until the brewery has a decent alcohol production to warrant a dedicated train line to bring said alcohol to its destination.
stay tuned and post your comfiness if you are playing OpenTTD

say hello to my newest addition to the alcohol business.
9 new farms are hooked up to the brewery, there are still plenty of farms to exploit in the same area (all the green and light green squares are farms), but they are in some pretty awkward places on top of hills that make them hard to connect with trains.
Right now i just focused on the easiest farms to service, I'll be trying to get to the hard-to-reach ones later.
I also greatly overestimated the production of farms, i knew they were extremely slow producing industries, but i didn't expect them to be this slow. I relly need to find a way to produce farm supplies and use them to boost the production of farms.
but first, i have to get to all the farms i can connect to the brewery within a reasonable distance.
stay tuned
>>122081121
Hello, newest addition to the alcohol business!
7 new farms are up and running and, as you can see, I started going for the ones that are up on hills, which causes all sorts of problems when planning where to place roads and train tracks.
this will be a nightmare of epic proportions when I'll start delivering supplies to those farms. I'm seriously considering to not deliver supplies at all and leave the farm as they are, the pain of trying to deliver the same amount of supplies to each end every farm is way too big. I guess i'll make up for the low production by adding more farms to the network.
>>122082993
Can't you deliver supplies using trams/trucks as well? Also can you repost your newgrf setup?
>>122055521
Looks nice, but it seems like normals are missing?
Is this a shader or some hd texture you made by hand?
>>122083398
yes, trams and trucks can carry pretty much all the cargos that a train can carry.
the problem is not that i don't have the vehicles to move the supplies, it is that the logic with which cargoes are assigned a destination (which is a thing you have very little control over) is not really suitable for situations like this one, where you have so many industries that require the same supply (especially when the fact that those industries are so slow producing forces you to connect so many of them) and the supplies are not even produced from within the same industry chain.
i would go more in depth with this cargo destination logic madness, but i don't want to bore you with all the details.
here is the list, I removed a couple of grfs from the last time i posted it because they were causing strange conflicts with other grfs.
all that stuff is mostly cosmetic, the one that is really game-changing is FIRS, and a few vehicle packs that are well suited to work together.
if you want to go for the same list, you can skip the "nutracks" one, because it is designed to work with trainpacks that i don't have so it is now just a cosmetic addition rather than a challenge, as it was supposed to be.
when you start a new game, as soon as the map creation is finished, open your newgrf list and see if there is any conflicts, i often found myself with an already advanced game and grfs not working because I forgot to check at the beginning.
thanks to my amazing photo editing skills, you too can now withness the majesty of my quiclky expanding network of trains, trams and trucks
>>122085629
I don't see anything.
>>122085629
and thanks to my amazing internet skills, you can now whitness how retarded I am for forgetting to upload the picture
>>122085746
Those are long tracks. How big is the world in km?
>>122086253
no idea, there are all sorts of conversion to get from nr. of tiles to nr. of km, and they are all screwed up because some take into account the apparent dimension of the vehicle sprites, while some take into account the amount of time it takes to get through a tile, given the vehicle speed.
btw, the world i'm playing in is 2048x2048 tiles, there was something about it on the wiki, but i'm too lazy to look it up right now.
and yes, they are quite long tracks for the slow ass trains i have, it is just that useful farm clusters are so far apart that i had to force myself to stretch the network a bit too far out than I would be usually comfortable with.
hopefully it will not be a problem in a few decades, when i get faster locomotives and wagons
:(
>>122063367
They're disabled in cfg only. You can reenable them again with this mod:

looks like a challenge to me
>>122087945
At 8bpp I make that to be 8000 megabytes. Good luck.
>>122088157
i decided to decline the challenge until i have built more stuff, that was the warning that comes up when you try to take a screenshot of the whole map with the maximum zoom available.
considering i only have colonized a relatively tiny fraction of the map, it is a waste of time.
I'll do it once I am more spread out with the network, so there is more to see than just unserviced cities and industries
>>122085746

>>122088530
this stuff, keep in mind that i'm playing with a patchpack that, IIRC, does something with the terragenesis thing, so you may or may not get the same results with the same settings in a vanilla game.
>>122088487

Dividing by 1024^2 to convert from bytes to megabytes.
>>122089287
don't you just divide by 1000 to go from bytes to megabytes?
>>122089570
1MegaByte = 1024 KiloBytes = 1024*1024 Bytes.
But for marketing 1Megabyte = 1000 KiloBytes = 1000*1000 Bytes.
That's why you only got ~930GB of storage when you buy a 1TB hard drive.
>>122089785
oh right, it was 1000^2, not 1000, with my logic.
got it, thanks, didn't really remember about the actual conversion rate
