I've seen too many "Well this person did say they wouldn't do [x], but they might still do it!" posts to fall for this. Acceptance is a good place to start anon. Even if you still hold out hope, he said it's highly unlikely. You're better off going with the assumption that there won't be anything new, so if one day he retracts his words and does implement something it'll be a pleasant surprise.
