As someone who played League of Legends religiously for 3 years up to diamond 2 and got relatively highly ranked on CS, Overwatch competitive isn't any more "casual" than most big esport games.

the ranked system is fucked beyond belief and here's why:
1 - calibration was broken, and there hasn't been enough time for it to settle - meaning there are still people >10 ranks away from where they should be
2 - blizzard have designed the amount of points you get per win (or lose per loss) assuming a 1-100 bell curve. However, because they don't know how to build a competitive game they've actually ended up with a 35-70 bell curve (see: pic from masteroverwatch)
So a single win or loss can move you roughly 0.5 levels (if not more) - that's multiple percentiles. Win one game and the genius system thinks you're magically better than <2% of the playerbase around you.
This all means that people can move ridiculous distances really fast. Add in a completely broken leaver system and low penalties for game-ruining (unlike, say, dota) and you have a recipe for disaster.
To put this in context: I fell from 50 to 39 in just over a day. That's the 51st percentile to the fucking SEVENTH. A comparable movement in Dota 2 would be to fall from 3500 mmr to <1500. In a day. That's fucking idiotic.

I play her on KoTH 90% of the time. I only pick her on payload and cp if the rest of my team comp allows for it, which it does most of the time.
Here's my pro-tip: When you think you're fine and shouldn't blink, you should blink. Even if you've got that Zarya down to 50 hp and youve got the rest of the mag lined up to melt her. Side step blink and then finish her.

if youre solo qing dont blind open symmetra. just play her after you play 1 game with your current team and you can assess how good/bad they are. she can multiply the effectiveness of your team on either attack or defense. so after you play the first match and you decide that your team isnt totally bad and getting rolled really hard you can play her on the next match. also learn how to play her on attack. imo shes way more useful there than on defense most of the time

In a way. it runs great on consoles but everything surrounding it is fucking awful. I had to rebind all heroes controls, one at a time, so i could actually jump and look around at the same time, without that it would be impossible to play Lucio or Phara.
The aiming is also a pain in the ass an characters like widowmaker, bastion and soldier 76 are pretty much trash and easy to avoid, trying to hit Genji, Lucio, phara or tracer is nearly impossible unless you get luck. the update they amde on tobjorn by nerfing his damage in 30% was fucking gross and now you can literally walk towards it without fearing death.
jumping around is also a great way to not die since you can't aim precisely, characters like mei and symetria can fuck you up ina second because they dont need to aim much.

nope. everyone loses rank equally. I've corroborated it with other players and we all got the same win or loss rank measure.
and sometime winning will get yu an inch of positive rank due to their tam leaving. losing will net you nearly a full rank loss.
