That's a fucking longsword, I don't care what the fuck bloodborne says it is. Also, even rapier's had an edge that could be used for snap cuts, or even to, say, decapitate a corpse.

Considering how lightweight a rapier is it would be next to impossible to perfectly send a head flying is one swift swing.
Not without sitting down and hacking at the neck for about 10 minutes.
It just doesn't have enough mass.
Its mostly used for piercing armour and or targeting weak spots.

I don't know how to break this to you anon, but rapiers traditionally were the same weight as longswords.

Where the fuck are you getting this shit now? Rapiers are absolutely and utterly TERRIBLE at dealing with armor. They're sidearms, like pretty much all swords.

You're thinking of an estoc or a small sword. Rapiers, due to their length, were indeed heavy, and had a cutting edge. Small swords are what modern fencing swords are based on, as well as what are mistakingly referred to as Rapiers in the media.

I find it a bit difficult to comprehend that a rapier is used for slashing, think of the flux of the blade.

But that's what they are designed for, stabbity stab needles.
Average weight for a rapier in the 17th century is between 1-2 kilogrammes, dunno about you but modifying the sword to have a wider, heavier blade a rapier won't be effective at slashing cloth to leather armour.
