i played 1.6 only on lanparties with friends, never really competitive. been playing csgo for a week something, after 10 matches i was ranked gold nova 1, pretty happy with myself and i have fun playing.

That was the release version. They removed every useless clutter ages ago, it's like before but with a more modern look. You can't have GO look like CSS 10 years later. The same way CSS is like 1.6 but better looking.

That's not an argument, nobody is forcing you to have skins and shit. There are tons of "fun" servers, jail/surf and shit. GO is for comp play, if you want to fuck around, there's CSS.

Definitely Source. Counter-Strike has a fatal flaw that it hasn't evolved much from its gene 17 years. Might as well play the one with the comfiest visual, best UI, and most fun balance of mechanics.

cs_office for days. It's fast, it's fun, and it has the perfect balance of being able to know where the enemy could run to within X amount of time without giving a reliable strategy every single time. It keeps it fresh, and while it's a quality all Reserve maps seem to have, cs_office has that the most.

Counter-Strike has some of the absolute shittiest shooting mechanics in a FPS. They should have changed in someway past Condition Zero but they didn't. Take it, internalize it, and accept that what makes CS a skillful shooter is actually more along the lines of team positioning and knowledge of map variables. If you don't can't get past it, Dirty Bomb is a great alternative that is basically "What if Counter-Strike didn't stagnate for almost 2 decades?"

I've been playing casualy CS since before 1.5 and when GO got released I started playing a lot.
The core mechanics remain the same, but GO changed a lot. The biggest difference is the recoil. 1.5, 1.6 and Source feel like they have no recoil compared to GO, everything shoots straight ahead, deagle has no recovery time, things like that. The rest of the updates are nade fixes, damage balancing, map balancing, better hitboxes and hit detection.
Most people I know that played hardcore 1.6 now play hardcore GO. You should try it again for a few hours, but only if you have 2 or friends with you. Solo is boring.

Steam says 300 hours on source, 1400 on GO and 3 hours on 1.6 which cant be right but I doubt steam even tracked hours 12 years ago.
I had not played MM for months before prime was released, I still dont play it very actively unless I want to solo queue or play CS sort of casually (usually drunk or high). I received LEM from rank up game and a week later I was global.
I'd honestly recommend anyone wanting to play CS to use services like faceit, the skillgap there is so much higher than in MM.

Thoughts on CEVO anon? We started playing faceit, it was tons of fun, and then one of my teammates said "let's play CEVO, it's better". When I asked him why he said it's because most people there are LEM/Global and 5man stack and try to win. I really felt like I was improving a lot on CEVO and couldn't only rely on my aim skills like on faceit/MM.

Valve's casual servers have dumb settings and dumb people, solo competitive is not worth it. I'd recommend community servers. I've spent about 2000 hours on the same server.

Source is my favorite flavour of Counter-Strike. Most custom mods, maps, skins, all the good stuff which made any sounce-game so fun with its huge modding community.
I never touched CS:GO since it looks very "OOO LOOK AT ALL THESE LEVELS AND SKINS"
I'm dissapointed we don't have many online shooters where you start with all guns, and let your skill demonstrate how good you are, not just because you're using some gun unlocked at level 359.

I've been playing CS GO for a little bit since summer sale, like 20 hours or so.
I'm apparently a 5 year veteran because I have source that I also played like 20 hours on years ago.

If you're playing on Valve DM or Casual servers, then yes, you're usually against literal babies. For more skilled players you'll want to hop on community servers.

mouse 2= crouch middle mouse or thumb mouse button = zoom . i personally always go balls to the wall and rush the entire enemy team in pubs because who gives a shit if you die, and if you pull it off you look like a god. had some sweet 25-0+ KDRs that way
