Not as usefull in the early game as taking one of the other two starting weapons and picking up the saw spear instead.

Probably the Rakuyo or the Saif, or the Burial Blade, or maybe even the Cane or Blades of Mercy. They are all good.

Yeah, Whirligig is completly unparreleled when it comes to PvE, it has no downsides and even has decent Arcane scaling if you want to convert it to Fire or Bolt.
Beast Cutter is my personal favourite STR weapon though, 11/10 Visual and Sound design, it *feels* heavy and brutal. It's also great at crowd control and the R2 combo will pancake everything that can be pancaked from an absurd range. You can get enemy hunters locked in a cycle of being knocked over and getting back up just in time to be hit again. It works even better against normal mobs since they usually get up slower.

You don't use the Saw and Cleaver at the same time. When it's folded you use it like a saw, when it's folded out the other side is facing down and works as a cleaver.

I like it.
If it's the weapon I'm thinking of, it drives me up the fucking wall that characters swing it folded away the majority of the time. I haven't played BloodBorne yet so I don't really know what mechanic flips it out and folds it up again.

Seems like a good cover weapon to represent bloodborne's arsenal.
Pretty unique, clear mechanism, covered in unnecessary rags, dirty as fuck and brutal looking, makeshift, etc etc

Inferior to the Saw Spear in every single way.
I liked it. I used it on all my new characters until I could get the weapon I actually wanted because it was simply the best weapon for the the first half of the game.

>it's transform combo is insanely fast and almost as powerful as an R2 while retaining the r1 stamina and speed
Though to be honest, I liked the Bloodtinge weapons the most. Specifically the Chikage. Usually I hate Katana type weapons, but this was so much fun to use. Probably due to how fast the game played.
