Ilios is worse. It has two maps that have the objective right near a bottomless pit. It's right in the fucking middle of one map, and to the sides of another.
The amount of times I've died to those environmental kills is too much, even if I make sure to avoid being close, a concussion blast will push you into them if timed right, Lucio will always use it when he gets a chance, Roadhog can even hook you from the other side and you'll fall into that bottomless pit.

Mercy is a shit character, her only saving grace is her ultimate so you can pull off a double push after enemies use their ults.
Her damage is pathetic and damage boost is even worse, shes fragile and her healing output is garbage.
Zenyatta is fragile but his damage output is ridiculous, Lucio is borderline flawless and Symetra is a defense hero in the wrong hero type.
High rated Mercy's just have to hide and get treated like an over glorified health pickup because their team runs back to them for healing, they can never by in the thick of a fight unless theyre suiciding for a res.

Also, why do people think symetra is a defense only character? She's the most powerful in KotH, then on offense, then on defense, with some maps being even or swapped. People try to play her like torb or only use her for her teleporter which is just mercy's rez but staggered. It's main advantage is that you can sneak to the back of the point on offense and get your whole team through and on the point without the enemy realizing.

What are you even talking about. First off, using my definition - based entirely off win rate - you got every example exactly wrong. Secondly, if people only have to switch off her 38% of the time because they lost objective A, that means she is a GOOD character because 62% of the time while defending objective she wins.
I understand that there are deviations (McCree being at 49% before nerf) but saying Symmetra isn't a good character is retarded. She has a port, microwave turrets that slow and damage a fuckton, a primary gun that does increased damage the longer you stand near her, and a secondary fire that can pass through shields and does high damage and shield her teammates. She is capable of blocking off an entire flank by herself while providing an instant port back to defense and giving her team extra health. not only in writing does she sound good, but in game she is better, shown by her win rate.

She's OP as fuck in KotH are you joking? Her turrets take no time to set up and can add up to significant damage in enemy routes because there's no time to approach calmly, or can make a room a safe space for your team to escape to. Her right click is almost an instant kill on squishy heros and is perfect for filling doorways or long hallways or ambushing from behind and going right into beam for near instant kills on anything but tanks.
And her left click is the strongest KotH weapon fucking ever. It locks on, perfect for taking out anyone who's trying to contest with avoidance like genji/tracer, and it is EASY to wipe the whole enemy team because it's best used by building it up on the enemy tank/mei's icewall (which your own Mei can give you if you ask) and then wiping out fuckers one by one because they HAVE to group up on the tiny point if they want to get anything done, meaning they either have to try and burst me down which is hard as fuck because I can jump around like a fuckhead and still do the highest dps in the game, or book it and run away, giving up on the point until their team shows up again.
Even without her teleporter she is the best character on KotH, and most of the time you can still sneak a teleporter pretty fucking close.
Everyone hates symetra because they just treat her like a shitty version of torb or go "ugh she can't heal she's a shitty support" because they're fucking stupid and can't see her uses.

In any 2CP map most people switch off after the first point is lost, or they stay as her until they win because the other team never managed to cap the first point. In KotH they switch off once their team is attacking, or stay on if they manage to take and hold the points.
Symmetra is situational as hell as a hero, but in the the situations she's good, she's really good.

Symetra is OP as fuck, the only reason she isn't getting adjusted like everyone else is because nobody uses her because they just want her to get easy kills like torb because she's a "builder" or generic healing because she's "support"
Symetra can carry the whole team on KotH, she makes pockets of safety in an instant with turrets, she makes squishy but vital characters like tracer or zenyatta more survivable, she cuts down on walkback time to mitigate enemy momentum and ultwipes, her beam does literal highest dps in the game, on par with genji's ult and has a range of "anything in the objective zone is your bitch", her orbs punish anyone taking narrow paths, and her health/shield split allow her to fight in the thick of it and as long as you survive guarantees you'll have a decent amount of health for the next wave if your healer is off sucking dicks.
She is built from the ground up for KotH, every single one of her abilities is best used in KotH. Just because you haven't fought with or against a good one doesn't mean she's not.
It's like bastion, he's near worthless in higher levels if you play him like just a stationary turret, but he's still incredibly good if you constantly move him and treat his transform as a minigun spin up instead of "well I'll sit still forever now"

And she shouldn't be, if people actually gave her a shot and played her right they wouldn't think that. The only thing symetra needs is for the enemy to be distracted for 2 seconds, after that ANYONE that tries to square up against you is going to fucking die, the only characters that have a chance are Roadhog if he can really aim and gets a lucky spread, Zarya if she's already fullcharge and has a ready or Reinhardt if he gives up his shield and focuses on you. Reaper can sometimes escape by wraithing out, and tracer can get away if she uses all her blinks but they can't take you down, and as soon as they disengage your shields will recharge while they'll have to find a healer or medkit.
Pharah is probably the hardest counter but most of the time she's going to have to stay low enough to be within range if she's on the objective. Otherwise you just stay behind cover until she's within range.

No other hero can keep up with her dps while jumping to avoid like she can. Even if they have god tier korean k-style ability to maintain focus on target while jumping all around them, symetra STILL does more dps, and only needs to be pointing in the right direction within spitting distance. They could also just give Symmetra a flat 10% movement speed like they've done with Genji and Tracer. Would allow her to not be completely cucked against everyone with a movement skill.
Then again I don't really understand what the logic behind Tracer and Genji's bonus movement speed is. Genji having bonus speed during ult has some justification (Genji's ult actually gives him even more speed added to his already faster base speed) but Reaper, Reinhardt, Winston and Symmetra are very dependant on being at the correct range too and they don't get special treatment.

Symetra doesn't need the movement increase because her turrets slow down what they hit, so ideally you'll have your prey slowed to a crawl and distracted, by the time they realize they need to escape they'll be dead. Plus, her weapon has a long enough range and lockon, so that she doesn't actually have to move that quickly to keep pouring it on. Basically she has a circle around her and she's in the center, anyone in it is going to take damage and to try and avoid her they have to traverse the entire outside of the circle, while she has to make smaller motions, move smaller distances, to keep that circle on them, while the enemy being hit has basically one option which is to dash in a straight line away from her otherwise they'll die because after one second, there is basically nobody except a few tanks and maybe reaper with a lucky spread headshot that can do enough dps to kill her first, definitely not if she has healing from anything, even lucio's piss trickle of ambient healing makes her nearly unbeatable.
Genji and tracer are fast to help them get in, out, and around the enemy, symetra is built to kill anything that comes close with her beam, and threaten/punish anyone far away with her fire and forget superdamage orbs.

That giant metal arm isn't solid, plus it's onyl as strong as the "muscle" propelling it, the joint supporting it, etc. It's possible for large machinery to be more fragile than it appears when stressed in ways it was not meant for, especially compared to the human body, which automatically heals itself at a cellular level and makes adjustments to compensate for damage. Bastion was obviously not built for punching things extremely hard.
I understand your argument, and I'm not saying it's invalid, I'm just providing an explanation for why he doesn't do more damage than the humans. you can "should or shouldn't" all you want, he DOES do the same damage as everyone else, because providing a flat baseline for a shared skill is the most reasonable option in a hero based game.

Melees shoud've totally been rebalanced and made so that not all characters are equal. Make melee for most zarya/winston/hog stronger, rein can remain the same while his has a sweeping larger hitbox. Make bastion and DVA mech harder hitting but with longer recovery after use. Make meis instantly remove frozen effect but deal much higher damage on fully frozen. Make genjis and tracer do same or less damage but with faster recovery so they can attack faster. Melee is fucking dull right now and mostly only used as extra slap before you start reloading if you're close, it's dull and stupid/
