Never understood the meme of hating this game
Theres billions of planets to explore
with literally anything, ANYTHING to do
every planet is different
it would take billions of years to explore all of them
when you discover something, you are most likely the FIRST person to discover it
I for one am so excited
>>
>>345415404
If you arent having some sort of deja vu after writing that, then you are probably too young to remember Spore. That game is the reason we hate this other game, we dont want to see the youngsters go through the same disappointment we went.

Yes you can. It just takes a very, very, VERY long time. Hence why you need hyperspeed. Keep in mind that every jump will require ridiculous amounts of fuel.

Shill Man's Cry.
>>
>>345420861
Do you have ay evidence for this?

Seems to me that would add unnecessary complexity to programming the game for a feature that would literally never be used. You wouldn't go through the trouble if there wasn't some way of going fast enough to successfully travel that distance in real-time and a reason to do so over using the fast travel.
>>
>>345421097
Yes, but an analogy usually have a gram of comparative content. Yours doesn't.

Already confirmed that there will be no loading screens when you're actually in-game. Everything is generated on the spot.

It's fine since I was being sarcastic as well.
My point, however obscured by my wording, is that in NMS there is literally nothing to do at all. You can go from planet to planet, contemplate, probably even shoot things (yes? I haven't paid attention) and stuff. But "anything" actually does mean a lot more than that.
Since I'm a diehard fan of fallout (the good ones), I'll base my argument on comparison NMS' in-game possibilities to F2 (1998) simply because I see it as a game with freedom done right. One of the very few
Can you create your character to be a brainless retard who can't speak anything but hurr durr? A genious genious scientist who fixes and changes every tech he encounters to work for him? A sly sexy beast who's too weak to fight and seduces everybody instead? A hexed weirdo who comes through any pickle by a sheer luck because everybody around him just blow themselves up trying to kill you?
Can you become a famous boxer?
Can you become a porn star? Or fail at becoming one, settling for sucking a dick for coppers?
Can you become a respectable gangster? A sheriff? A caravan security guard? A whore? A meth manufacturer and dealer? A slaver? A ranger fighting slavers? A smuggler? A drug addict who can't put together two sentences because of horrific withdrawals?
Can you purge every living being you encounter with flamethrower, including animals and children? Can you break one's legs with a crowbar and then watch them crawl away from you while you throw rocks at them for fun? Or the opposite - never shoot a gun or hit anyone once?
I could go on for a long time with this, but the most important thing: can you do all mentioned above and still beat the game?
>>
>>345420061
>An open world sandbox game doesn't allow you to play how you like, or have any game mechanics other than flying.
What's the point of having billions of planets when you can't settle down and create a little world for yourself?
What's the point if you can't be a little creative with the places you visit?
It just seems counter-intuitive to create billions of locations and having only one of those locations matter.

And then at the center, there's just probably going to be some 2deep4u bullshit saying something about how our restless ventures towards one absolute goal mean nothing, and how those that carve out a home for their-selves are more happy in the end.
>>
>>345421618
Not same anon but

>One is scientifically viable, and necessary for interstellar travel. Another is a cheap gimmick for lazy players.

You are so desperate for reasons to like this game you've resorted to using the method in which one fasts travels between points as a selling point. There is absolutely no difference other than purely visual between a loading screen and a "hyperspace animation". In fact the animation could be used as a loading screen, like they do when traveling to planets in Destiny.

The first thing I am going to do is make a pirate fleet by using run and gun tactics to disrupt planetary trade routes picking up recruits along the way as we build a resistance and continually starve planets until they surrender to us unconditionally. Then I will make mutant life forms out of the population that will be like orcs in 40k which will be ground troops for invasions of other galaxies. If I find one of you faggots out there I will steal your ship and drop you off on an abandoned planet and make sure that you have a fleet of orcs to deal with as I continue my onslaught of the galaxy. Well isn't it obvious that "you can do anything" phrase is just a manner of speaking? I've watched some of their videos where they clearly implied (even stated occasionally) the mythical "infinite possibilities", and in the context that sounded a lot like "you'll be able to do anything".

You said it yourself, to travel to the center of the universe. If that's the goal, then you won't be able to visit those billions of places.

and see how truly deluded most of these people are, I distinctly remember the same type of stuff around Spore where people were going into great detail about how deep the evolutionary systems would be.

There are people who constantly post about this here, in the same one two two spaced sentence format. The OPs of these threads all either use the header, or a picture of the developers tweet about the game going gold. It's pretty obvious why that's happening.

I worry more for the naive people who genuinely believe these kinds of things, based off of stuff that hasn't even been shown, likely discussed only in press by the same people pushing the "it'll take 5 billion years to see it all" meme. 4.9 of those billion years will be spent seeing it all over and over, but in a green that's one shade lighter.

At least Peter Molyneux had to work for years to reach a position where he could tell this many lies to naive children. These days any two bit indie hack could do it just off of shovelware like Joe Danger and some Sony money.

>It's literally just a compilation of the differents infos known

Here's the issue; next to none of that is "known." It's what people who are paid literally to lie and exaggerate are saying to the press, which is never present in the videos they actually show of the game. To clarify: i'm not saying that the features not shown in any trailers or on-stage showings thus far DON'T exist, just that until the game actually comes out... It's Schrödinger's game feature.

Put it to you this way, in my opinion the hype that came from Spore was in some cases justified, because what was being said to the press at the time was some revolutionary stuff. The issue was on release next to none of that extra game-changing stuff was in the game. So when someone goes out to X outlet, of course X outlet wants to know about some stuff Y outlet hasn't reported yet.

This is how it always works, but for some reason, only in some cases, rather than just giving away actual features, they'll just make it up. For me that was what drove the Spore train off a cliff, because for some reason they had no leash on their own press jockeys. Doing the same type of stuff as whoever it was who tried to claim, literally, it would take billions of years to see all of NMS. Just maybe tone the bullshit down to a 6/10.

If space exploration isn't your thing, then the game obviously isn't for you.
>EVERY PLANET WILL LOOK THE SAME
Okay, and to those people I ask you to step outside and look at all the stars in the sky. Notice how they all look the same? The universe is kinda fucking huge and I'm willing to bet a lot of those stars out there, get kinda samey after number 10,000 or so and we're talking about a game with 5 billion (yes, with a B) planets.
>QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
Friendly reminder that most of us will only ever discover like, 12 planets and I can promise you they'll feel pretty custom tailored and hand crafted despite the "procederual generation". Maybe if you start exploring hundreds or thousands of planets, you'll have notice a bit of deja vu but the sad reality is, is that the universe is pretty much like that as well, so you might want to get over it.

>I see no reason why any of the features they haven't shown wouldn't be in the game

Your own sentence includes within it, if you look really close, why. It has something to do with what they have, or in this case haven't, displayed. There is nothing to show there. By your own logic, in 4 years, why have the actuall features shown in trailers, on stages, in exclusive previews for game sites... Been the same? Why, if this game has all of this stuff added in over the years to give it depth, would you not... Show it.

>Also please stop talking about Spore and comparing it to NMS

This is the exact same thing they did in the press, though. None of that depth was in the final product. Many people decided to blame it on EA, but more than likely Wright just was too ambitious with his ideas. He also had the know-how and funds behind him (even despite EA never wanting to do much) to do much better. This is not the case with Sean Murray.

Just as another example, I can't remember how to search through my history to find the article in question, but early on when NMS was being discussed in the press, Murray or someone similarly high up in the company was discussing how they made sure their procedural generation was top-notch. They said they had a program which actively checked clients, to ensure the optimal rate of random "new" objects in different shapes and colors than seen/generated before. This sounds good, except now they have a GoG release, which would have none of the always online connectivity enabling this "feature." Moreover, they themselves have said that they have confidence in the code behind the generation, but if that were the case, why would they need a program to run cursory checks on clients and ensure that? This is the type of stuff you have to police, someone somewhere (in the press) said something about this which ends up conflicting with their own later statements on the game. This is the same thing that went on with Spore.

At some point you're going to have to come to terms with your own arguments, after 4 years there is no excuse to show the same stale loot and scoot feedback loop if this game has actual depth to it. The analogy is shit but this isn't actually why. See in this context, given what I actually posted (rather than your simplification,) the argument made was that merely discussed features do not exist in any sense until you bear witness to them. The self described "state" of the item was implied by people lying to the press despite the item itself not existing in a form to check.

I mean, again, even my own post admits it was a shit analogy, but it wasn't fucking food, this time. Do you want food, next time? I can gladly give you an even worse one.

Did this shitty strawman work when your single mother tried it on you? Literally nothing i've said was anything like this. The database (factually) includes features which have not been seen. Spore (factually) was marketed in the same fashion, lies and exaggeration to the press. You (factually) have failed to argue any points made in my posts.

>Please show me a video from 4 years ago showing this.

???

Your own post mentioned your trust in them and the features they claim exist was based on the fact that they've been developing this for 4 years. In this time frame, every single trailer they have shown is almost identical in terms of the depth of action portrayed. The database linked includes a ton of "features" which sound great, but for some reason aren't shown at all. However, they've discussed them, by your logic, that means they exist. Either they are already showing everything, or they aren't and some of this is a lie.

The reason people keep bringing Spore up is the same thing happened then, and it was a lie then, just like it is now. Show me a trailer with any sort of depth past the same old loot and scoot you get in minecraft clones, or come to terms with your conceptual abortion.

All I wanted is some sense of fucking scale, not spore level shit.

the 'we haven't seen everything in the game so it's gonna be shit' argument that plagues these threads is such a fucking meme. so is the 'they've shown no gameplay' bullshit. we've seen shittons of gameplay. what you're saying is that you haven't seen the gameplay in enough context. there's no story. no levels. no missions. just a list of things you can do and an infinite fractal space to do them in with one overarching and vague goal and some 'lore', which i can guarantee you has a few non-procedural elements to prevent you from completely missing it. if you don't like that, tough shit, but what you've seen is gameplay. you just haven't *experienced* it yet, in context. none of the shit they've promised is in any way outlandish if you accept the fact that the procedurally generated universe works. all the other stuff is relatively trivial.

First of all, if you're actually Sean, props on the Notch approach on here.

Secondly, how "balanced" is the PG? Like, is there a limit on an amount of buildings per grid square on planets? And what about plants and such?

Dense forests and city planets could be cool, if they're a rare product of a high number in the PG algorithms.

I had no idea this was being marketed as a traditional space sim, that changes everything. I mean, it will be even more of a disappointment now. I like how they always showed that same sparseness in the traile- oh right, they didn't. In fact most of the trailers make it seem like there's a reason to explore everywhere. The people in the press saying it would take a trillion years to explore everything seem to be indicating that you'd actually want to.

I mean it would really be a shame if, for no reason whatsoever we injected realism into a cartoonish romp around with likely retarded AI space pirates and magical space cops that can find you even in the vaunted center of the galaxy. What if, instead of making a game people would want to play, we just made space engine and added some shit from minecraft in, then put cel shading over it.

>scavenge

That's putting it lightly, I can't even find it plausible anyone i'm interacting with about this game could possibly be this naive. Every thread about this is like scrolling down below a youtube video. Here's where I can't see how you can tie your shoes in the morning;

>the sparseness of space, and the existence of barren planets, is a part of its appeal

So why has nearly everything they've shown so far been on planets with vast amounts of flora/fauna? It really seems like this is something that would only be mentioned as a "feature" if they wanted to excuse the inevitable. That people would get tired of splashing around in a puddle, is only natural. Claiming you deliberately designed your games with the puddles even further spaced apart on purpose is nonsensical.

>So why has nearly everything they've shown so far been on planets with vast amounts of flora/fauna?

that's not actually the case, i don't think. most of the flora/fauna they've shown has been in tundra/savannah type biomes and plenty of what they've shown has had no life, though of course they are going to show a lot of it up front to convey its variety.

You're right, I didn't notice. However that's a pretty old video, right? Looks like the first trailer, maybe they improved it, I can't think of a similar moment off the top of my head.

You're right about planets being not to size though, they're definitely big, but apparently some guy used the latest trailer to give an estimate and it was like a 100 km diameter at most.

>i was responding to a post complaining about potential sparseness in a space game

That's great, but how is that a "part of it's appeal," when all they've shown has been on planets that don't fit that bill? Moreover, why would any of this spur a desire for more exploration rather than people just sticking to where the good stuff (resources, animals, pirates with good loot, merchants [do these even exist? >was it mentioned as a feature?

I'm not sure, they sure seem to be mentioning it a lot more now close to release, and in any case it seems like people don't get it. It certainly is a feature for something, but i'm not sure it's related to the game.

>>345437056

>That's great, but how is that a "part of it's appeal," when all they've shown has been on planets that don't fit that bill?

see, this is incoherent. one guy, maybe you, was saying that the game is going to have ten deserted planets for every occasional 'interesting' planet. the whole thing was a hyperbolic way of saying that the game is going to be sparse. i think, for a space game, that is appropriate. why you're complaining that the game in fact *isn't* sparse now, i don't know.

>Moreover, why would any of this spur a desire for more exploration rather than people just sticking to where the good stuff (resources, animals, pirates with good loot, merchants [do these even exist? I have no idea]) resides?

because you don't know where the good stuff is before you explore for it.
>>
>>345437102
There's a video of a guy asking him "Is there invisible wall" and the dev answer "no, you can just keep going".

That's what the developers themselves have said. I'm not sure how you've even gotten this confused, or why you don't understand how Anonymous posting works.

>why you're complaining that the game in fact *isn't* sparse now

I have no idea why I still post here. What i'm saying is all that they've shown off of the game has been areas which are not like typical planets. They're bursting with life, teeming with possibility. The kind of thing that makes you want to go on, rather than generic desert planet #546 (this time with a different resource, but only one resource, because the devs themselves have said it's one per planet) except this time there's a green tint to the sand instead of red.

>because you don't know where the good stuff is before you explore

The problem is making a game that is 9/10 bad stuff 1/10 good stuff takes away any incentive for you to spend time looking for that 1/10. The first time you find it, you'll just use it as a hub until you beat the odds again and find another thing worth exploring (that might not even be closer to the center of the galaxy)

This isn't really what a hub is. However given that they seem comfortable with admitting 9/10 planets will be sparse wastelands with 1 resource, maybe one kind of life if you're lucky, and nothing of note... Yeah, I think i'd probably use it for more than just a hub. I have no idea why you'd want to spend time exploring a planet with nothing on it to explore.

>I have no idea why I still post here. What i'm saying is all that they've shown off of the game has been areas which are not like typical planets.

because they're showcasing the kind of variety you can expect. there are relatively barren planets in their footage too.

>except this time there's a green tint to the sand instead of red.
>hurr durr palette swaps

there is much more you can do with proc gen and i think they've demonstrated some of those ways in the footage.

>The problem is making a game that is 9/10 bad stuff 1/10 good stuff takes away any incentive for you to spend time looking for that 1/10.

that is actually the opposite of what it does. some sparseness is essential for making the content have impact. we can quibble over the precise ratio all we want, but the point is that in space, not much is interesting. finding something interesting is huge.

You're talking to the same person, I have no idea why you keep doing this. I'll make things as simple as I can for you.

Why would you be happy about a game which is meant to have a random procedural generation, instead switching to the idea of a more realistic universe model? 9/10 planets being glorified rocks is not variety, regardless of it's relevancy to reality.

>that is actually the opposite of what it does. some sparseness is essential for making the content have impact

Meaningful content is essential for making any content at all have impact. The idea that they would deliberately restrict meaningful content, and that someone should be happy about that, or even content with it, is frankly insulting.

>>
>>345438608
>Based on what?

The developers own intent. 9/10 planets will be desolate wastelands. For some reason people in this thread love that idea, despite it directly conflicting with the concept of meaningful procedural generation.

For lack of a better example, imagine Minecraft, but every biome you find is complete shit, until you walk for a day straight and find something worth seeing. That might actually just be normal for Minecraft these days though, it's been a long time.

i had no way of knowing this and i kept an opinion mind you stupid fag, maybe you should work on understanding how anonymous posting works. people hijack other people's arguments all the time and this causes escalation. if you really are that same guy, then yeah you are being super incoherent from a critical perspective.

>Why would you be happy about a game which is meant to have a random procedural generation, instead switching to the idea of a more realistic universe model?

i...what. it's not random you fucking donkey. the procedural generation is necessary to make it limitless. doing it by hand limits the scope of the game severely, and in my opinion makes for the fundamental point of the game.

and what do you even mean 'realistic universe model'? it hardly helps your case when you're complaining about sparseness. a realistic universe would be far, far worse in terms of expectation of encountering life.

>9/10 planets being glorified rocks is not variety, regardless of it's relevancy to reality.

well, yes it is, or at least it can be. you're talking about scarcity, which in and of itself is completely unrelated to variety. in any case, i am not going into this game solely because i want to find life. i want to explore planets, barren or otherwise.

>Meaningful content is essential for making any content at all have impact.

and this game has it.

>The idea that they would deliberately restrict meaningful content, and that someone should be happy about that, or even content with it, is frankly insulting.

they don't 'restrict' it, they moderate its frequency. every developer does this. in a more traditional format it would be called 'pacing'

No it meant, we've seen planets described as "lifeless" on video, apart from lacking animals (though I think I've saw some with planets on them, so it's an exageration), they look alright.

Plus one of the dev's big concern is avoiding their game to become too repetitive, so they probably took measures around that.

From what I gathered, it's all about exploration and supplementing that exploration by upgrading your ship and the other various mechanics by visiting planets and gathering resources akin to most survival games
>>

>i had no way of knowing this and i kept an opinion mind you stupid fag

At no point have my posts conflicted in tone or idea, nor have you quoted parts of them which would indicate this.

>maybe you should work on understanding how anonymous posting works
>people hijack other people's arguments all the time

Was this supposed to be ironic?

>it's not random you fucking donkey

But that's the problem, Nigel. Our universe, despite having laws that govern parts of it, was a random creation. They are arbitrarily restricting exploration in this game by deliberately making 9/10 planets stinkers, from a gameplay perspective. Why do you continue to think sparseness is a good thing?

>well, yes it is, or at least it can be

We're talking about gameplay. That does not provide a variety of gameplay. This is a game. If you just want to explore space, there are plenty of games (and just sims, even, if you don't likie the whole gameplay thing) out there.

>they don't 'restrict' it, they moderate its frequency

That's a form of restriction. You appear to have trouble understanding meaning.
>>
>>345439234
>solely composited to show off environmental variety
>THERE IS NOTHING TO DO
>THERE IS NO STORY

I mean, unless it was actually trying to prove those points (against the game) correct... ???

>>345439060
>Plus one of the dev's big concern is avoiding their game to become too repetitive

How is making 9/10 planets worthless from a resource, loot, life, and gameplay perspective anything other than repetitive?

>>345439098
>fundamentally exploring planets is THE POINT OF THE FUCKING GAME

Making 9/10 planets shit directly detracts from that, it is quite simple to understand. The funniest part however, is seeing people try to defend the idea of it.
>>
So the games gonna be GOTY right? Bloodborne didnt even have this much shitposting and it got 9/10's
>>
>>345439496
Barren planets have more resources so no they're not worthless. Plus they might be less dangerous since they're wont be any predators on the planet. Theyre their mostly to provide resources so you can survive on the life filled planets and travel to others
>>
>>345439496
>How is making 9/10 planets worthless from a resource, loot, life, and gameplay perspective anything other than repetitive?
And from where are you pulling half of thoses things from? Literally all they said is that 90% of the planet will be lifeless, you're extrapolating all the rest.
>>
>>345439605
Plus, barren doesnt mean that their wont be any buildings or ruins, monoliths or fortresses on it it just means their wont be any npcs or life on them. Blueprints and weapons could still be found on crashed ships and many of the other points of interest on the planet.
>>
>>345439312

so first you tell me the problem is that it's sparse. then you complain about teh amount of variety in the trailers. then you tell me they should've done a 'realistic universe model' because procedural generation is 'random'. then you tell me that procedural generation is bad because the realistic universe is random.

>We're talking about gameplay. That does not provide a variety of gameplay. This is a game. If you just want to explore space, there are plenty of games (and just sims, even, if you don't likie the whole gameplay thing) out there.

this only demonstrates that there is demand for these kinds of products. i don't see why you think that no man's sky can't give a relatively honest depiction space exploration because 'it's a game'. what does the argument 'there are plenty of games like this one, so don't play this one' even mean? why aren't you criticising those ones?

>That's a form of restriction.

a game would not exist without restrictions. you are restricted in how many bullets you can take. how high you can jump. how many different pikmin you can have. calling a space game out for being sparse as that's 'restricting you' is like calling out the FA cup for not allowing you to fire footballs at the goal with a machine gun.

now that i've shown restrictions are not inherently bad, we can discuss the specific *ratio* you'd prefer. because that 9-1 number is hardly concrete, is it? we don't really know exactly how it's moderated. and the idea that there should be *no* controls over how many life-harbouring planets there are is abjectly stupid. so what number would you pick?
>>
>>345439605
Every planet has a single type of resource. I'm not even sure how I know more about this game than the people blindly defending it despite it's own developers actively sabotaging gameplay potential.

>>345439614
>Literally all they said is that 90% of the planet will be lifeless

As far as I know the general implication was most of those planets would be more like mars than earth. They've already confirmed planets will only have one type of resource per planet. I don't know about you, but it definitely seems to me like Mars would not be worth exploring, given those restrictions. Plenty of games on-market give you more out of exploration based on these "features."
>>
>>345439852
>so first you tell me the problem is that it's sparse. then you complain about teh amount of variety in the trailers

I'm not sure you've even read my posts, nor am I at all surprised. The idea behind this game being exploration driven is more or less ruined by the concept of a realistic depiction of planetary contents.

>because that 9-1 number is hardly concrete, is it? we don't really know exactly how it's moderated

I can safely say in any way they would moderate it, it makes for a much worse game without this meaningless restriction. Nothing else in this game is pushing for a realistic space sim kinda vibe. The craziest idea is people who are telling me they are buying this for the exploration are okay with the idea of 9/10 planets being shit. They've admitted it themselves, more likely than not, to explain away the lack of staying power this game would have. Universe Sandbox is still pushing copies, and it's not even a fucking game. It also sounds like it (or Space Engine) are more up your alley.
>>
>>345440132

>he idea behind this game being exploration driven is more or less ruined by the concept of a realistic depiction of planetary contents.

ok, so you think people don't want to explore space.

LOL

>I can safely say in any way they would moderate it, it makes for a much worse game without this meaningless restriction.

then you don't understand what the actual fuck you are saying. obviously the universe will have some probability distribution for populated planets. if this is random, it could be fucking infinitesimally small. you need to control it. the idea that they *don't* moderate it in any way is completely nonsensical.
>>
>>345439940
Would this not promote exploration? To go to different planets because theres not just one that has everything you need. Thats where the crafting system comes in as well. Once again just because a planet desnt have life doesnt mean theres nothing to do about it. And seeing as you ignored the post about buildings and monoliths you know it just as well as i do.

We don't know. The problem with having nearly 18.5 quintillion planets is you can't describe every one of them. We know you can collect resources from crystals and I have seen rumors of volcanos and worlds so hot/close to the sun you need suit protection. So it is possible due to the shear number of planets, that there may be a frozen planet covered entirely in crystals or a planet nearly engulfed by a star. But again, due to the seer number of planets, it may be unlikely anyone will actually find them.

There’s some simple math at the heart of No Man’s Sky’s exploration, and what it means may turn some players off. It goes like this, as Murray describes it:

“Ninety percent of the planets that you visit should be barren, because that’s how it would be in our universe and anything else would feel fake. And then 10-percent of them should have some life, but that life 90-percent of the time should just be some grass and some shrubbery or whatever, you know, some insignificant life. But 10-percent of the time — 10-percent of the 10-percent — it should be real life. But maybe just birds, fish, and things like that, smaller creatures, 90-percent of the time. And 10-percent of the time it should be something a bit more interesting, like four-legged creatures. But that four-legged creature 90-percent of the time should be super boring.”

And so on. “People always talk about us being the game with space dinosaurs in it or whatever, right?” Murray continued. “Even those, they will be one in a million—like genuinely one in a million, like 10-percent of 10-percent of 10-percent of 10-percent of 10-percent, right? But even then, even though they’re one in a million, 90-percent of the time they should be a boring version of that. And we save the crazy interesting creatures for not one in a million, but one in a hundred million.”

Those are not great odds for players hoping to discover something incredible and not just another barren planet waiting to be strip-mined for resources.
>>
>>345444808

>We don't know. The problem with having nearly 18.5 quintillion planets is you can't describe every one of them.

i think we can reasonably expect that there won't be an exceptional amount of variance in the overall shape or state of planets. remember, this isn't a random probability distribution over those 18.5 quintillion planets. every planet is a collage of many design elements applied to a generally spherical surface.

Space Engine is already technologically miles ahead of this shit game, and it's free software made by one fucking guy. You are a certified retard in my books if you are willing to buy and put time into this shallow garbage, when you could be doing similar shit in Space Engine, which is free, and actually provides an accurate sense of scale.
>>
>>345455376
explain it then, how does it work? can i kill random players with out warning them?

That's like saying every minecraft world is different so you could never get bored, right?
You'll get tired of seeing the same animals with a different colour scheme while doing the same thing on every planet.

Every planet is unique and all lifeforms are unique. Even if they have a similar base form, they are all uniquely created.

Not to mention all the possible resources and crafting that you can do.

I fucking hate the sandbox argument. 'What do you mean there's nothing to do? It's a sandbox, make your own fun'. WTF use is a giant sandbox with no interesting buckets and spades.
>>
>>345415404
>with literally anything, ANYTHING to do
Like what?
Naming animals?
>every planet is different
Not mechanically. Different color maybe.
>it would take billions of years to explore all of them
So?
>when you discover something, you are most likely the FIRST person to discover it
So participation ribbons, then.
I pretty much nailed this game's demographic.
>>
>>345456281
eat it shit in it roll in it dig into it jump out of it get naked in it and insert it into butthole or dickhole
even withouth tools a sandbox can be fun

I'd rather have drop-in drop-out than servers that will go offline in a couple of years, rendering multiplayer unavailable. This is not a console-only release like Resident Evil: Outbreak.

Just looking at some of the demonstrations and interviews they did is all any person needs to know.

>See you can flay around these planets, it's cool.
> Ok I can see that, but I'm sure the viewers would like to know what things they can do in this impressive universe.
>Well you can fly around explore and look at things. When looking at things you can get items.
>Ok, what do these items do, what do they add to game-play?
>They help you better look at things.

Yea, sounds real fun.

I'm the crusher of no man's sky.

For every thread shean and his shills do i make 4 more. When they go to sleep i keep crushing their threads. I am the defender of tripple A games. I want the industry to make the same games over and over.

You made an relevant argument and posted the compendium again?. HA nigger. I got hundreds of nu-male images. I made 6 different collages of screenshots with fake color filters.

You talk about exploration? To bad cuck, i just post NO MULTIPLAYER and win every argument. I will keep falseflagging these threads to keep them on the frontpage 24/7. No one can stop me.

I keep comparing this game to spore and minecraft all day long. I hate anything that resembles creativity. Let's face it. There is none in the industry, all there is are pretentious nu-male, jew developers.

You all already lost, just give up. Every time i die in dota, every time i wait for the matchmaking i do 10 more posts.

go ahead KEK i am waiting

that's why there are gameplay videos. have you played it to know if it's FUN?
>>
>>345456047
If there's billions of different lifeforms, they're either not all unique, or they're 99.9% garbage. There's only so much meaningful variations you can have.
Procedural generation means they're not 'uniquely created', but variations on a set of 20 archetypes at most.

>>345410304

I know this is bait and on /v/ one of the worst boards on 4chan but at the same time I feel compelled to respond. I heard about this game 2 years ago. On paper it sounded cool but impossible and when I heard the size of the team (12 people) I thought it would die before it was even released.

Then I heard more and more people talk about it. At first I figured it was the hype train not unlike Destiny or Spore where the games are simply lacking though the core ideas are strong.

The scale of the game is obviously unprecedented which is interesting but not why I'm thinking of buying the game at all. I find it interesting that the game skips out on a normal mission / story structure. I find the procedural music and animal audio very cool. Shawn Murray did say there would be a traditional multiplayer experience for the cod types. So it almost seems like two games. One is this massive space sim where you are not pigeonholed into classes or boring rpg archetypes and the other version of the game is pretty much a console eve-light. I hope they support this game and it ends up being cool because whenever Shawn Murray talks about the game he seems passionate and cites references like Arthur C Clarke or Dune so I ofcourse get rock hard.

Really hope the game doesn't bomb and it delivers. Most games that come out seem derivative or lack content. See Overwatch/Battleborn/Destiny/Star Wars Battlefront etc. They do well and have massive teams working on them but they simply aren't that interesting. Fighting games and JRPGs have the same problems of being very samey. This game looks anything but samey however I have a feeling it won't be played because I don't know anyone in real life that's heard of it and it's only on PS4 and PC which is great for me because I'm a PC gamer but skipping Xbone plebs isn't smart.
>>
>>345457839
you forgot your tongue? this is exactly why no one takes your shilling serious here, look at this faggot >>345453771, you are not even trying, instead of shilling you just make fools of you
>>
>>345458831

are you still accusing me of being the same poster as some guy who posted a collage? man you really have to learn to keep your cool in an argument. the only reason you're making that accusation is to discredit my argument - which is clearly a fallacious approach.
>>
>>345457923

>hurr durr it's less stylised so it's better

it looks fucking bad.
>>
>>345457678

it's based on what the devs have said, i don't have direct evidence but they've made a specific deal of the fact that you can kill each other and you won't necessarily know you're up against another player.

seeing as the game is not out yet, why ask me any questions if your only response is going to be 'have you played it'? if i had i would probably be under a fucking NDA. are you stupid?
>>
>>345459342
i didnt say these two are the same person, but both of them are equally retarder, also we could have whole dev team shilling here
>>
>>345410304
It had good marketing, it's going o sell no matter how shit the game is
>>
>>345459441
Yeah, this >>345434332 ugly shit with no textures, terrible draw distance and popping everywhere is much better, lmao. This is what nms fags actually believe.
>>
>>345459638
why are you answering if you dont know it? what dev said is unclear as fuck and no one actually know anything about it, just keep your mouth shut next time
>>
>>345459731

>also we could have whole dev team shilling here

they have better things to do anon. you need to stop attacking the posters for being shills because either the information is evidenced or it isn't. we can only tell you what we have been shown and told.

>>345459891

it has much better textures than what you posted. pop-in is an issue in both games and part of the draw distance issue is actually just atmospherics. in any case, yes no man's sky looks a great deal better than that video.
>>
>>345460110

you asked you obstreperous bonehead. i don't know for sure i.e: i have not seen it happen with my own eyes, but that is what the devs have said, and they were quite clear.

god these threads are such cancer.
