If you laugh and have fun while playing a co-op game, then that's just it. There's no facade, you're literally having fun. Fun can be had with a bad game, and with friends it's very easy to do so. It merely requires your minds be on the same level, have the same intent. That's what's meant when someone says everything is fun with friends.

The line in the OP tends to be the response to the one you posted. When someone says a game is more fun with a friend then friendless retards go "but EVERYTHING is more fun with a friend" as if to say that it's only more fun because you're with your friend. But that's retarded, some games might have been designed with co-op in mind, and 9/10 times, your friend will be a more competent player than some anonymous asshat you can find randomly online.
Co-op games also often need communication and planning together, which is harder if you're playing with a stranger. So it's not just because you're with your friend, but because the game was actually designed with multiple players who can efficiently cooperate together in mind.
