SAO and FE both follow a pretty similar formula to appeal to people who don't actually watch anime/play RPGs.
Say what you want about FE's gameplay, anyone who's familiar with the SRPG genre can tell you Fire Emblem's level design is incredibly low tier compared to other games in the genre, I would never tell someone to play any FE title over FFTA or Soul Nomad for example.
