Professionally tested IQ of 88, here.
How has having a low IQ affected your gaming ability and habits, for those of you like me?
RTS and most strategy games are virtually unplayable for me, since I can't see the repercussions of a move or action for anything but the very, very near future. Spacechem and Factorio made me depressed.
I also can't play roguelikes since I can't manage equipment, and I can't play fighting games since I can't really read people. I've also never been above average at any genre of vidya. I'm only average in twitch shooters and shmups.
Have any of my fellow dimwits found success in gaming?
I've never gotten my IQ tested but that sounds a lot like me. I'm afraid I have a low IQ like you, anon. Where can I get tested? Also, I can play roguelikes but the strategy part is fucking dead on.

What if you simply don't learn the same way that others do? Maybe you just need some more time to adapt to the different patterns you need to recognize in strategy games.
RTS just takes memorization and speed. I'd argue its a good genre with people of low IQ and bad for people of a higher IQ who want more challenge and variety in games.

That's only because I've read a bit. I've been tested twice with the Stanford-Binet and once with the Welscher adult IQ test.
I got an average of an 88. My deficiency is very real.
For comparison, I usually get around 110-120 on online tests.

Is the Mensa International IQ Test, or whatever it's called, reliable? What about that Norwegian international one?
I took both and got about the same results, but I can't help but feel that online IQ tests aren't reliable.

I am also bad at RTS and strategy games, but its because I don't enjoy them so don't put much effort in.
Puzzle diversions in games I tend to breeze over, but I know people that do the same and are otherwise stupid (one of my best friends is a lovable idiot)
I think the most impressive puzzle I solved in a game was The Witness.
Solved that one puzzle with the elevator with broken wires and the different coloured rooms, after my friend and his friend had been at it for hours. That's the only time I actually felt smart from solving a video game puzzle.
My IQ is probably lower than 141 these days. I got tested ages ago and have since been a chronic underachiever, so I've been getting stoned every night and not really honing my intelligence in any way (since it never helped me anyways)

At best IQ tests can measure how effectively you can learn and solve a problems, which can change with more experience in solving problems.
Theirs no reason why you can't improve your IQ score. Learn your own ways to solve problems and eventually it will become second nature.

People nowadays are boring, I have some decent friends, but I'm not a social whore
I dont know what a high or low iq has to do with being able to play games. I went through a test that qualified me for a program where I could repeat 2 grades and get my a level (need to go to a university) which means I probably am not that shit (25000€ investment for 2 years of school) and I am mostly shit at games. Sure I am decent at character action games and dark souls and 4k games but neither need a high iq, roguelikes are one of my favorites but demand more practice than anything else, rts is just muscle memory and shooters are reaction based. mmos are just shitty rythm games that too, need practice and memorization. Games are very hard for me. I couldn't finish Portal. Even playing the game with a youtube walkthrough didn't help me because I kept looking at my computer then at my TV and the different screen size confused me so I shot Portals at the wrong parts of the puzzle areas.
I mostly play simple shooters and platform games (and I even struggle with those, for example whenever I play Mario I end up getting the mushrooms and Koopas confused and losing lives)

I had to get a full psychological evaluation, twice because the first one was run by retards except the IQ tests are basically idiot proof in how they're administered. And I got a 124 on both of them. there is only one IQ test that i generally trust, but i don't remember the url. it didn't give you a score, it only showed how well you did compared to the other people who had taken the test. did better than 51% of the people who had taken it and was pretty happy with.

It means nothing since you need a composite score of all possible categories and subtests. The test you link to is only the PRI for Matrix Reasoning. That doesn't touch the other subtests like Block Design or Visual puzzles, And it doesn't even go into the other groups like VCI, WMI, PSI, FSIQ, GAI, CPI. Plus the test doesn't say how the score is scaled or if they include a percentile rank. It's more likely done by (you get this amount right, you get this IQ score, as opposed to creating a proper medium.)
The whole point of an IQ test is to test your various fields of aptitude, not just one, and create a broad picture from that. It's like taking the SATs, or whatever the fuck kids take these days and only doing the Math portion and calming that represents your entire score.

It's been years and years since I've been to a mental health professional of any kind, but I feel like my brain started atrophying around 8th grade and I stopped growing more intelligent and absorbing new information after that. I have shitty reflexes and no ability to plan or read people so I'm generally shit in all games and barely find the ability to enjoy them. When I was a kid in school I used to decorate like three-four pages long texts by reading them two or three and was able to recite them easily word for word. My father actually berated me because I used to perfectly repeat every commercial I saw on TV, even the verbose ones, and he hated that. I can't do that anymore but my memory is still exceptional for academia related things, even though it's garbage for things I simply don't care at all about, such as people's names or who they dated or some other gossip shit like that.
I'm also very good at impersonating and drawing patterns of behavior and consequently "figuring" people out because I quickly pick on their mannerisms and body language. I detect lies very easily due to this if I've been around someone for a while.
I also attended the best local law school that has a lot of competition without studying jackshit and I went through school and high school with sky high notes even though I barely even paid attention to the classes. It all felt just too easy to me. I score around 130 in every online IQ test (except for that free-iq-test.net one or whatever that gave me 142) and took a preliminary Mensa membership test once where they "strongly suggested" I take the real membership test (which probably costs $$$ and they tell everyone to take it). Breezed through school effortlessly with straight As at the highest level (Gymnasium, Germany). Taught myself guitar and after 2 years was able to outplay people who had taken lessons for 10+ years.

130 verbal, average nonverbal. I'm right at the bottom of the range for "can communicate effectively with other people." RTS and strategy are virtually uplayable for me too. I can figure out what to do but I don't enjoy them at all. I do fucking LOVE managing items though so Roguelikes are fine by me. Fighting games are also alright.
I'm okay at twitch shooters, but I mostly enjoy RPGs. Anything with a lot of freedom to mess around is good because I like to experiment, when a game runs out of stuff for me to try out is when I lose interest.
I would say I mainly enjoy reading and understanding things, interacting with people, etc. I don't really understand the appeal of puzzles and I'm really bad at them, but practical problem solving is probably my one and only strength.
I haven't found many games that I really genuinely love but Dwarf Fortress and Dark Souls both hold a special place in my heart for letting me learn the mechanics and employ lots of stupid and weird tactics.

I scored 114 on the verbal test, but only 40 on the mathematical test, 39 on the logic test and 44 on the spatial-visual test. My overall IQ is 59. I think my low IQ is due to my mother's drinking while pregnant with me. She was so happy to be pregnant that she drank day and night for months on end. Yeah which is a good reason to take what >>345381154 said into consideration. It's accurate to a degree because it is taking your honest (presumably) answers and turning it into an essay of sorts.
It's interesting, but not set in stone.
For example they talk in INFJ about Karma being an interesting aspect for them, and that caught me because I am actually going to study and live in a Buddhist Monastery in either Thailand or Nepal soon for a few months.

I know this is an online quiz and a lot of this information is relatively generalized but some of what it has to say is pretty accurate for the most part, which is surprising.
The only thing i don't agree with is putting emotions over logic, ill say things to make people happy in public but my own personal philosophy is built around what makes the most sense even if i don't personally like it.
Now i want to take a professional personalty quiz, no wonder buzz feed likes these quizzes so much.
