The only other race than human I'll go is gnome. Dwarf's are cool but too hairy and beefy for my tastes usually.
I got human because my immersion is better if I can identify with my character more, so I just recreate myself. Or I go classic Gandalf style wizard and go old man with long grey hair and beard.
I wish more MMO's had races like Everquest.
