I haven't played overwatch enough to comment about it specifically but almost every game that uses this shit is close to the same. The better a player you are, it sticks you with bad players to balance the two teams and it thinks this works. This is how they manage short queue times or else you'd have to wait for 20 minutes for it to find equal players.
It's a shitty system that just means your team ends up being a bigger enemy than the enemy team. You can probably avoid this with ranked mode in Overwatch, and sometimes other games. But those have their own glaring flaws of a different nature where people quit when it's not going their way for one example.
You can still go over 50% but it's an uphill battle in the worst way where you're having to carry dead weight instead of just try to actually enjoy the game. I had less issue with this on Overwatch, but on other games they have paired me with 4 players that disconnect every game almost in the first minute so I'm now fighting a 1v5, and instead of just being a rare occurrence, you just get repeatedly and systematically grouped with players that feed double digit deaths without killing anyone, cause that's the only way they can balance you against the enemy team. My winrate's still 70-80% on these things in question but it's just not fun. Going away from dedicated servers of the 90s was a fucking mistake, no stats, no matchmaking queues to design the game around for the worse. Hop in a server and git gud or go home. Not to mention that setup was already fixed so disconnecting players weren't as big a deal.
I got bored of it and started playing Hawken. It was free so why not.
Fun game for a while, probably more so for me since I've never played any real mech games.

No. I'll be honest I was really into it when it was only quickplay, I was levelling up 7 times or more a session, now that competitive is out I'm all about ranking up, and the system is so broken it's much more of a challenge. 3 wins to cancel out 1 loss. takes more effort.
I would say though 300 competitive points for a golden gun is ridiculous, I've had Overwatch for months now, and including both quickplay and competitive I have like 320 wins. In competitive alone I have almost 80 wins. I doubt i will get a golden gun this year.

See you literally haven't played the game whatsoever. Most people don't even know how to access the store from within the game. The game itself literally never mentions that you can buy the loot boxes, it isnt even remotely advertised. And if you're somehow suggesting other people using skins is somehow advertising loot boxes, again, you get a loot box for every level, and whats in them is completely random, you could get rare skins in your first ever loot box, you can't directly purchase any of the items, all you can do is buy/earn loot boxes which may contain in game currency as well as cosmetic junk, so you could save up the currency to buy what you want. There is no advertising here, anyone, at any skill level could feasibly have any of the cosmetic items available without buying anything at all

I played the beta for about 8 hours, since then I'm at 36 hours in the released, got it a bit late tho.

The problem with overwatch is the following:
1. 20 tick rate.
2. Ranked mode is "dynamic queue" and unbalanced.
3. Multiple game modes in ranked mode is a disaster, makes it unbalanced when it comes to wins and losses of ranking points.
4. Objective based game = rock paper scissor = boring, individual skill doesn't matter, too much focus on team play and coordination.
This is why Quake Champions will take out atleast 20% of the Overwatch playerbase, my entire squad is switching to Quake Champions when it comes out. 120 tick rate, unlocked fps, INDIVIDUAL SKILL BASED death match arena team PvP, everything we really wanted and the best thing is you don't need to play more than 1 character, the maker said in the interview that you just find a character that connects with you and your play style and you can just practice that for the rest of your Quake Champion gameplay life.
Overwatch was fun, but it lacks true challenge, depth and quality.

Quake Champions is multi-player only arena shooter, team based death match made for e-sport in cooperation with the Quake pro's being directly involved in the developement. It will feature Champions, a.k.a characters with 1 passive and 1 active ability designed to enhance certain playstyles, it is not class based, weapons are unlocked for all and so are pick ups. There are no ultimate abilities in the game, so abilities will enhance the gameplay, they won't decide the gameplay. The wall hack lasted 2 sec and showed that information only to VISOR, this kind of "wall hack" is good, it isn't cancerous like in Overwatch, lasting way too long and giving that effect to the entire team.
Female character doesn't teleport, that ability isn't teleportation, we don't know the detail. Ranger has a teleportation/blink with his Orb.
All classic quake movement abilities will be in the game.

God no, heavies pretty much don't stand a chance against snipers or spies. If a pyro or a scout closes the gap on a sniper he's going to have to go through hell to get them away from him. Soldiers, demos, pyros, and heavies have horrible range and pretty much can't even touch snipers at range. If a scout gets trapped into a small area against a heavy or a soldier he's pretty much fucked. There's no real options for a heavy to counter his weaknesses, the pyro can at least fire back projectiles.

heavies can flank the snipers, communicate with the team for spies.
Pyros get headshot from a distance if the sniper zones them, scouts can get bodyshots or gunned down with the smg after a few quick bodyshots.
An engineer in the hands of a skilled player can kill pretty much any class.
And that's really the problem with overwatch, a lot of classes lack the base ability that allows them to kill any other hero if they are in the right situation.

Game is not fun and I tried rank to spice things up. I got placed at like 49 even though winning 6 out of my 10 games because 4 of those losses were on koth. The 40 games were so bad and I grinded my ass off to get 50 which was dumb luck honestly. I convinced myself that 50 would be so much better since how hard it was to leave 50. Nope exactly the same as 40 if not worse since some 40 players were actually fucking good but not good enough to carry.

desu I could see a single player campaign mode where you get to choose 3 heroes out of a predetermined pool to go on a mission.
You can swap characters at will or maybe at certain checkpoints and if one of them dies you can't choose him for the duration of the mission anymore.
I would love to explore Hanamura or Volskaya industries in a single player campaign and I feel like the background has enough depth to tell some neat stories.

Regardless, if your team is plain retarded, you won't be able to carry solo. There were so many games where I 1v4/5 as tracer (killing 2-3), but team doesn't want to push up because there's one lone enemy behind them. This was after I already capped a point and moved to the next.
With a duo partner though, game is definitely carryable, assuming your duo queue partner knows what they're doing (and can play every class efficiently).

It works both ways. If you're smart, you can kill a lot of dumb players with your ult. If you're smart, you can avoid a lot of dumb player's ults.
For example, it would be hard to avoid a reaper who jumps over rein's shield from above and ults midair. Rein may survive if he turns and there isn't a full team behind him, but whoever he was shielding is kaput.
