hey /v/
today is my birthday and I'm feeling really lonely. Would you kindly suggest me something to play and distract me from my existence?
Jedi Academy
>>345288456
fear's a good shooter if youve never played it.
hang in there bro, happy birthday.
>>345288456
Happy Birthday,Risk of Rain is a personal favorite.
>>345288456
Play F.E.A.R. You should be like me and act as though your birthday doesn't exist
>>345288553
isn't the start slow? I never played it so I fear that until I get to the action I will already be asleep
>>345288723
I tried playing it but got bored after 30min. Might try it again tonight. Also, thanks bud
>>345288792
I haven't played it before because I didn't had a controller, but today I have one on me so I will probably try it too. Thanks
>>345288456
Happy Birthday anon-san.
Well my vote is for Witcher 1. I've beat all three and love the series. The combat takes some getting used to in 1, but I honestly liked it. It's a true PC game, and the clicking combat ended up being fun. Good luck getting through chapter 2. once you get past that, it's all great.
act 4 is elder God tier.
good luck m8
>>345288835
yeah I try too but I still live with my parents and they like to remember me of it. thanks for the suggestion too, I might have a look at it
>>345289073
thanks anon-kun. the first witcher was my original idea but like I said about jedy academy I thought it might take a while to start and I would be bored to sleep before having any fun. Even if I don't start it today you got me hyped, so thanks for that
>>345289310
It's a fun rpg, that is if you like being a witcher. I played it last spring for the first time and enjoyed it. One play through is enough though, so soak it all in. It's a long game.
Tbh I like the dialogue in witcher 1 the most out of the three games.
>>345288456
go kill yourself, stop distracting yourself from it.
Embrace it, let it go
>>345289578
well, I've never been a witcher so I dont know if I like it, but I believe I will. Did you play it with mods? I like playing the original version (at least on my first playthrough) but I heard about a lot of mods to enhance the game
>>345289628
good idea anon
>>345288456
Happy birthday anon! It'll be my 25th in a couple hours and I'm feeling about the same. Fallout is a good game to at least lose yourself in but it takes a while to get going. FTL is my usual go to game.
>>345289708
that's pretty cool pal. when I'm playing sometimes I feel kind of happy and that's why I asked for suggestions. glad to see that there are some anons willing to help
>>345289963
happy birthday a little early to you too! I hope you have fun! I actually tried to start falout 3 twice and couldn't get on it. I really think someday I will like it but I don't feel like replaying that start again for now. I downloaded FTL while creating this thread to know it and I will probably check it even if I end up playing something else
>>345289856
Nope, didn't get any mods for witcher 1. I went vanilla and it was fine for me. You can mess with mods though, i'm sure there are a few that wouldn't be bad.
happy birthday anon. I'd say the batman games. Those are pretty damn immersive.
>>345288456
Can't really think of anything but happy birthday
This is surprisingly a nice thread, happy birthday senpai.
>>345290845
>>345290229
Thanks! The beginning of fallout 3 really is the worst part, it might just not be your thing though. Also don't sweat it if you die a lot in FTL, it can be tough until you learn the ins and outs. Just remember you can run from fights if the odds aren't in your favor.
>>345289856
>>345290492
My recommendation is to play it with a simple QoL mod, that's what I did. There's a mod that adds in an item that let's you meditate anywhere, toggle cat potion on or off, and let you access your storage anywhere. Really I just used it for the meditation, there's a lot of time specific quests and you can only meditate at campfires or inns, which gets old fast.
Wow, really? Today is my birthday too. How old are you, OP?
And what's your Steam?
>>345290492
alright, I will play it without them too. will start it soon, thanks man
>>345290646
yeah, actually I already finished arkham asylum on a friend's pc and really liked it. I will download it and play afterwards, thanks for reminding me how immersive they are
>>345290686
thanks man
>>345290845
yeah, it surprised me too. I am kind of feeling guilty because I can't play every suggestion but I appreciate everyone's kindness. thanks
what the fuck is this captcha I am really amazed
>>345288456
Arkham Asylum is a good game, atmosphere is great
>>345291136
What kind of games do you like most?
>tfw op wasn't a faggot today
good on you op. happy birthday.
>>345288456
Happy birthday anon!
Personally i'd go with FTL, i've had so much fun in that game
I'll write a sentence a few games I've played in your library:
Age 2 HD edition: Age of Empires 2 is still amazing imo, and the new campaigns are nice... but the devs of the HD edition introduced a ton of bugs...desync in multiplayer is common.
The competitive scene still uses the old versions(using voobly for multiplayer last time i checked)
Apparently there's a patch for hd edition that lets you play either hd edition or the old game with some new assets: http://aoccs.net/
>>345290990
that's me after playing the original witcher
>>345291065
the first time I played I couldn't even get to that city where they have a bomb. the second time I talked to the mayor and dropped it. maybe it's not for me really. and thanks for the tips on FTL, it will probably be a fun ride
>>345291071
thanks for the suggestions but I don't feel like using mods to turn the game "easier". It might get old fast but that's how they decided to make it and I think I will stick to it. thanks anyway!
>>345291112
happy birthday anon! I'm turning 22 now. what about you? my steam is "the blind mastodon" and I don't think there is another one
>>345291514
I'm turning 24.
Are you the one from Brazil?
>>345288456
kotor has always been good for some comfy escapism for me
also happy birthday anon, mine was on wednesday
>>345291136
You could emulate some ps2 games by downloading pcsx2 and getting ISO's off of Emuparadise.
I would recommend a ps4 controller and just hooking it up via USB. If you think about it that way you get a vast library of ps2 games for the price or a controller. Although, your computer can't be garbage.
Setup is actually really easy, it does most of it for you automatically. I only had to configure my button layout.
If you get that far, silent hill 2 is a great way to put things into perspective. At least youre not James. And mgs2/3 suck you right into their world beautifully. I can play that shit for 3 hours and not get bored. Silent hill 2 is definitely a slower burn tho, you have to let yourself get immersed as James or else it'll be boring. No big if you don't end up doing any of this, happy birthday!
>>345291238
I agree. I want to replay it and get all the riddles because I remember not getting all of them
>>345291252
my favorite game ever probably is cave story. recently I have finished ori and papers please and loved both too. I was never a rpg fan but I loved dark souls and that's why I want to give a chance to the witcher series
>>345291354
not today. thanks man!
>>345291410
thanks! Yeah, FTL seems to be a must-play. I am not playing yet just because you are being so nice that I can't leave you unanswered. I basically have AoE2 to play with a friend of mine, but I will take a look at this patch because I played a ton of it when I was younger
>>345292006
How do you feel about Shantae and the Pirate's curse?
>>345291664
nice! I believe that there aren't many things you can't do anywhere in the world after the 21st. maybe becoming president? not that I'm interested. And yeah, that's me
>>345291740
I started playing kotor earlier this year and the sewer just at the beggining of the game kicked my ass and I got kind of frustrated. maybe I chose a shitty build? thanks and happy birthday to you too! I hope you had a great time
>>345291765
I have a x360 controller from a friend here and I believe it might do it. I am really looking forward to playign silent hill but I never played any game on the series and thought about starting by the first one. do you think I should skip it or leave it for later? I will probably download SH2 now but with my internet connection it will take some time to finish so I will stick to FTL+witcher tonight. and I've already played through all MGS but sadly it kind of got me bored. I really loved all the games, but there were a lot of segments that didn't really got my attention. thanks man!
>>345292267
I never looked into it but the artstyle pleases me and for some reason I think that's a metroid-vania like. Do you think I will like it for liking cave story?
>>345288456
sure thing, fellow gamer dude ! x-)) x-) x-)))

Its a very casual platforming adventure with good art and music. Not really very challenging unless you try to speedrun it, which I believe has its own ending.
Is this you?

>>345292668
Not that anon, but Shantae is among my favorite series. Something about the lighthearted interactions, the colorful palette, and the sometimes-a-little-too-much fanservice just does it for me.
>>345292761
(you)
>>345292792
>>345292916
I was just playing SMB3 on my 3DS and was really on the mood for some light platformer. I will certainly play it soon too, thanks!
and yeah, that's me
shit anon, happy birthday, don't off yourself, instead play some Batman
guess I'll put my backlog here as well
what play
>>345292520
Same ps2 guy. Honestly you could play SH1234 in any order. Silent hill 2 has the deepest narrative that you could write a doctorial thesis on. It's a masterpiece focused on subtlety.
Silent Hill 1 is more gruesome and focused on visually being crazy, whereas Silent Hill 2 focuses on subtle psychologically oppression to James and the player. That's why it's important to try to get in the head of James, which is not very hard to do since he's such a generic protagonist. Silent Hill 3 isnt as deep as 2 or as crazy as 1, but it's still a great story.
Really just play them in whatever order you want, the reason I specifically suggested SH2 is because I figured you may be able to relate to the overall tone of loneliness. Kinda like listening to Adele after a breakup.
>>345293240
FFIV.
>>345292792
>Not really very challenging unless you try to speedrun it, which I believe has its own ending.
I believe there's only two endings, with all the Dark Magic, or with less. You do unlock title screen backgrounds for each type of run you do (any%, 100%, and speedruns for both of those).
>>345293240
Getting high and sneaking around in MGSV is really fun
>>345293513
Oh right its the backgrounds. Thanks for the correction.
>>345293240
thanks man. I would suggest you to play ground zeroes if you havent. the game in itself is short but the atmosphere is my favourite in the series. also get all the xof patches to play the secret missions which are really cool too
>>345293247
I see. it really seems a nice one but I hope it won't make me not like the first one afterwards. I have some chart suggesting the best way to emulate it so I will just download it now and play it whenever possible. thanks mate
>>345288456
Tuesday is my birthday. You should get EDF on Tuesday and we can play
>>345293610
I'll think you'll be good. The main attraction for the silent hill games is how they nail atmosphere within the town, and all the Japanese ones have that.
No problem man, I hope you feel better soon.
>>345293513
I want to impregnate Risky.
>>345293658
>EDF 4.1 is coming out on Steam in 2 days

Don't have a suggestion, but Happy Birthday anyways Anon.
happy birthday
>>345294065
If I were Sandlot I'd love to see the crazy shit people come up with
Happy birthday anon
>>345293658
would you laugh at me if I told you I've never heard of it? With all these suggestions and even a gift some kind anon gave me I am not really interested in buying anything now, sorry man. But if you want to play some other MP game we might try it
>>345293794
yeah, it will probably be fun. I am really interested into it. thanks man
I am really thankful for all of you. You made this night pretty cool when I thought that you would just shit on my face. thanks for all but now I have some games to play. good night anons
>>345294501
Naw, EDF is niche as fuck and only the western made one is on Steam. Check it out sometime if you like 50s sci-fi and starship troopers combined. 4.1
>>345294593
So far, I mean. 4.1 comes out Monday and is by the original developers and is great. Earth defense force btw
