The newer characters were released like 2 weeks ago and alex was 2 months ago. People already had mains and the meta for this year was already in place, if you thought that rog was going to make it to top 8 with literally 2 weeks of frame data and match up knowledge you are high, especially ibuki.
Not only that all the characters had the ability to make it in, people just got exposed, as people get more familar with characters more and more will start to get played.
