I live in east Canada and get good connections with anyone east USA, if you're in europe you shoul be able to play against most of europe without problem. Don't expect to play east coast vs west coast without issues. Playerbase is sure to become smaller with times but even just a month before Revelator you'd have enough players in Sign to find games with no issue (I mean it only takes two players for a match.)

Smash is in because it's popular and different, it pulls in too big numbers to be dismissed, and the reason why most fighting games fail is because all the FGC plays are Capcom fighters.
