It's not about cultured or uncultured hobbies. It's having something that's either inherently interesting or at least well known and probably enjoyable, knowing a good deal about it, and being genuinely animated and engaged when talking about it or doing it.
A lot of the time, people don't share 100% of hobbies, but what interests people is seeing someone else who is happy and interested and knowledgeable. I might not know about subject A, but I could enjoy a conversation with you about A because the way you describe it makes it interesting and you can share tidbits about it that a beginner wouldn't know.
