In melee G&W is uniquely the only character who as A aerials are not all L cancel-able, has a shield that does not actually protect his entire body even at max charge, and he's extremely ez to KO due to chaingrabbing and how light he is. Borderline unusable; actually useless against anyone good playing a high tier.
In Sm4sh, his bucket is more or less complete shit, his judgement is completely random ( 6 1's in a row) but most of his aerials are much better and he decent priority. His combo game isn't great but it's more much viable than Melee's.

Their dtilts don't reach low enough for many characters.
